>>6668 I think a lot of the new posters joined either post-Sena or around the time Sena was almost finished and are not aware of how long that took. The Sena thread was started literally just a few days after the site went live.
>>6722 I decided to take a peek and he behaves exactly as any average twitter tourist does with all the political grandstanding and the convenient amnesia when it comes to understanding why there’s so much resentment towards the west in terms of anime. Every western producer I’ve seen has the exact mentality as him too.
>>6722 Cause he's not a producer, he's an animator.
>>6723 Eh, he's arguably the least annoying person I've seen on the western side of the community. The fact that he has adapted to this site's culture instead of bitching about it and trying to get it shut down gives me the impression that he's a chill dude.
>>6726 I mean 39chan was quite literally made as a drama-free alternative to the /jp/ threads on 4chan and originally had a "fuck off if you come from other sites" attitude so people from vocatwt have to adapt and not start shit if they wanna be here. I don't know who this Majin guy is but if he isn't being annoying I welcome him. Besides we've sort of been in the public eye since the Q&A with Ritsu's voice provider, a few western producers use the site now.
>>6728 Kek, but you know the type I’m referring to, I’m talking about people who either misuse vocaloids to leech off political drama for views or are a slacktivist themselves. All while simultaneously shitting the bed when “muh drawing is underaged”
>>6734 yeah i get it. i could give less of a shit about politics or porn though, that's why i'm here lol. i just make shit that sounds good to my ears and the lyrics i write are based on my feelings most of the time.
>>6734 For example, the artist behind OP’s picture here (https://39chan.moe/meta/res/215.html) is a tard who only gains popularity by using miku to farm political points. Funnily enough he got exposed for following a blue archive artist and he conveniently deleted his argument with the guy who exposed him.
>>6731 Honestly I still feel dread when someone posts like they're from jaypee (I've seen it a lot more frequently today than previously) but most of the crossposters here tend to be chill and eased me up a bit.
>>6764 >>6765 I believe that was mostly my fault. Sorry about that, I just needed to get it off my chest. I got tempted by morbid curiosity and I was reexposed to how shit v*catwt is.
>>6764 /jp/ isn't the issue, or even vocatwt really. It's people who start shit on purpose and don't even try to adapt to the site's culture. If you aren't a dick you can stay, otherwise see picrel.
>>6765 I know, which is good. Sorry if I made things worse >>6767 You're fine, I agree that it sucks, there's a reason I have no twt. >>6768 Strongly agreed. We should just post about Vocaloid, which as a site we all collectively love.
>>6726 To my knowledge “VocaP” encompasses much more than just artists/music producers. Pretty sure I’ve seen people also refer to MMDers like Lat as VocaP. >>6739 >>6767 >>6772 We have a dedicated thread for that, please don’t mention Vocatwt or jaypee outside of it >>>/g/335
>>6737 I love her and her silly little squeaky toy voice However…I fear her and VFlower (VFlower is technically already there) might fall into somebodyloid territory if they don’t get another big song soon. If there has been a recent Kafu hit after that one Cosmo song let me know, I haven’t seen any myself in a while.
>>6818 If she had Rion V3’s palette, it’d be an upgrade. She feels like two different characters to me though >>6858 I know someone with his physical! I forgot if it was first or secondhand
You know, I’ve always noticed that vocaloid culture in JP leans more towards otakutism, anyone know jp vocalops who are waifufags/shotacons/lolicons for voicebanks? >>6795 Late apology buy sorry about that, I did check the rules but I forgot that general threads existed.
>>6868 You don't have to apologize a hundred times anon we understood the first time kek >anyone know jp vocalops who are waifufags Obligatory LamazeP mention
>>6870 I remember a post here saying that syudou apparently doesn’t like using vbs other than miku cuz it feels like he’s “cheating on her”. Never really liked his music but if that’s the case I can respect him a bit more. Anyone got a source for that though?
>>6858 I have Big Al and Bruno, and I occasionally see Big Al sought after, but not often. I want Piko or a physical Yohio copy one day and pirated in the meantime.
>>6868 It's fine anon, but you should know that people on /leek/ don't have the greatest opinion on dramaposters due to 39chan itself being made as a site to escape the constant dramafagging that goes on every other corner of the Vocaloid fandom.
>>6868 90% of them lolll. So many Vocaloid producers said they felt “married” to Miku during the 20th anniversary celebration and Syudou says he only uses Miku because using anyone else feels like cheating (the Kafu songs could have been commissions and I can’t recall him using any other Vocaloids. This might be the source: https://x.com/tikandame/status/1364143787535073285 [Embed]
I’m pretty sure it’s the norm in the Eastern side of the fandom. It explains why 90% of songs are Miku and the only male Vocaloid people really care about is Len. (Don’t mean this in a negative way) LamazeP also had a breakdown over Akihiko Kondo and decided to marry Una instead, but that’s probably less suprising as he’s more open with his waifuism. He also regularly thirsted after Teto as GojimajiP. Giga and Reol are also some obvious shotacon husbandofags.
Satsuki ga Tenkomori is another one that doesn’t get mentioned often, he’s an open shotacon and Ton Ton Mae even is an oneeshota song.
>>6818 complete downgrade, looks like random incohesive pieces thrown together with a horrible palette. those shorts buttons look like the eyes of some kind of pokemon to me? her old one is peak 2000s-2010s moe robomaid, I never understood though why there was one version of it floating around where the teal is lime green
>>6928 >>6932 I have considered Hioka before, believe it or not. But I'm not sure how I'd even be able to reach them. I was able to talk to Canon via e-mail, but Hioka, as far as I know only has Twitter which I don't use. (I also don't manage the 39chan account there, but I guess I could ask the person who does in the future).
Would the world collapse if Crypton released a completely new voicebank? And by that I don't mean an upgrade of an existing voicebank like the recently released Superpack. I mean a new voice, like the fabled CV04.
>>6983 It would only be news for the first few months after that, it would be forgotten. vsynth market is really established launching something completely new is not really worth the investment
>>6972 Is it bad to say I didn't like Bird Brain? It has an okay melody and great animation but I just cannot bring myself to enjoy it or much of any of Jamie's work. This is coming from someone who adores most western Vocaloid songs I come across. For example, I love Butcher Vanity and like Static, but everything else Jamie Page has worked on is a complete miss for me. Clone Clone deserves a spot there.
>>6984 Crypton has more levers to pull than dropping a new synth and praying. Not making any judgements on these being realistic options, but imagine something like a new synth being inserted into the Proseka roster, or a new PD game with them as a central role, or a Piapro contest leading to a feature in concert. I'd expect some "wow" factor of this sort if they were to drop a new voicebank.
>>7025 Those were made to market the existing English voicebanks to Taiwan's otaku audience. The closest things I can think of to "moe" English voicebanks are Avanna and Daina but I'm not sure if you could call them moe. I do find Avanna pretty cute though and Daina's design is a bit too messy for my taste.
>Get new song I haven't heard recommended to me >Click it >It's the most obvious AI slop garbage imaginable with that unmistakeable Suno AI "engine noise" and SV Teto singing over it >People in the comments are eating this shit up and questioning those who say it's AI I'll give them credit for using the real SV Teto voicebank instead of just running the vocals through RVC but jesus christ...
>>7034 I want her (and Oliver AI) so badly but Maghni has been in development hell for nearly a decade at this point and they’ve barely showed us the UI I have 0 hope for that engine
>>6920 Is this a parody of something? Because i can't believe a song about piss has this level of production. It almost feels like an early Kikuo track.
I don't know what the hell is going on on /g/ but these people need to get off 39chan. This is the same shit that made /jp/ unbearable and i don't want that to happen to this site.
>>7348 It’s fine, just ignore them Redirect them to the drama thread (sage it too) whenever they try to start shit. No hate, but posting this here instead of the drama thread was probably a bad idea itself haha
>>7351 I think it’s probably her history, a prankloid becoming a real vsynth is very inspiring. Although I feel Zundamon had a similar breakout? Along with Yuki, maybe their popularity feels less impactful since Zundamon isn’t as popular here as they are abroad and Yuki already had a decent amount of fans here since a lot of people on this side are wholoid lovers, one of her biggest songs for a while was made by Crusher
>>7353 If i'm not mistaken this was her most popular song before Yukopi's hit. It's also her best song imo, i wish KagomeP would return and make more Yuki stuff.
>>7353 >a prankloid becoming a real vsynth is very inspiring Yeah that plays a big role, but also being *the* Miku friend and being so memeable helps a lot. a lot of people know Miku is seeing Teto with her art and memes they dont know her name but know she exists. Also birdbrain was in top 100 in USA YT music for a little while
>>7394 Absolutely, I'm just talking more about the example where Teto is there but Miku isn't, which wasn't much of a thing before she exploded in popularity.
I love Teto's original UTAU voicebank but her SV sounds too samey to me and she has that same vibrato in every song she's featured in. I want to like it but it's hard.
>>7397 (samefag) I will admit that i really, really like mekaloton though. The tuning is nothing special but i like that they're making industrial rock instead of the same high-BPM EDM that every other Teto producer seems to make
>>7398 >>7397 I like her voicebank but i do agree that it sounds a bit "samey" and i hope that the SVS2 version fixes that since they're going to add more modes.
>>7398 What about "good intentions"? I feel like this is pretty different from what I usually hear from teto, and I still havent found anything else like it sadly ;;
>>7424 Every time i see this render it feels like originally they had drawn her with her tits out but then they remembered "oh shit this is for a singing robot software not an eroge" and lazily added the green shirt. Whatever the case they were definitely horny when designing this.
Let's be honest, people only care about her because she never released. Had she been released she would've been forgotten and rarely used like CUL, IA and Lily.
I decided to count all the popular MikuTeto duet songs on Vocaloard right now >Mesmerizer >Obsolete Meat >CandyCookieChocolate >Daidaidaidaidaikirai >Odochina >Don’t Believe in T >重音テトはこんなパーティ二人で抜け出せるのか with Zundamon: >YABABAINA >Noda
Obviously it could go nowhere, but some group has plans to make a vocaloid-specific Spotify clone. It is called Naia. I would be into it personally - I’ve completely fallen off the youtube wagon.
>>7470 Making it Vocaloid exclusive sounds a bit silly but i could see it work considering Spotify only has very recent stuff like Iyowa and Azari and old stuff like Wowaka and Supercell is nowhere to be seen.
I would use it, since Vocaloid is pretty much all i listen to nowadays.
The company that bought the rights to SeeU and Uni in the past are teasing new vocal synth vocalists! The one on the right also looks male to me and ST Media always said they wanted their newest vocal to be male.. https://x.com/StarlikeInc/status/1943246749948350806 [Embed]
>>7514 Unfortunately no, but they did get the character lisencing rights to SeeU and Uni back in 2022. They also helped with that one anniversary concert that ST Media was also involved in. (https://en.namu.wiki/w/%EC%84%B8%EB%A0%88%EB%82%98%EB%8D%B0%20%EC%9C%A0%EB%8B%88%EB%B2%84%EC%8A%A4) Sadly Uni is probably a lost cause due to the lawsuit (I’m also wondering how she’s even still on sale,) but I believe Dahee said she’d be open to record a new SeeU VB if possible! They are a rhythm game company that also owns a anime café (that did a Yumenokessho collaboration recently!)
>>7515 From a legal standpoint it seems ST Media did nothing wrong and UNI's voice provider herself even consented to the project while it was still being worked on. So who knows, really.
>>6697 If it gets announced at all (which is highly unlikely because Internet Co hates lily) I would assume they'd announce it August 25 since that's when she originally released. Iroha AI was announced on her release date.
>>7643 >what he does with robot Rei in his free time He improves her, of course. missile39 is a responsible dad who just wants his robot daughter to be successful.
>>7683 Atena's animations always have this ero energy despite them being safe for worm. I like them. His music's good too, especially that one song he did before Odochina.
>>7886 I agree! Although, there's usually numerous reasons for them to lack popularity, ranging from using wholoids, to just not getting traction from YouTube's terrible algorithm, to not uploading much, to (unfortunately) /g/-tier off topic bad behavior. I'd wager most Sonika producers are the first two categories.
>>7890 Nah, in the WVF if you want to get big you gotta promote your music on socials and pray that someone who's relatively popular like Majin or a big western producer like Mono finds your work and reposts it. The music using wholoids has nothing to do with popularity considering how big Vimalion loids have gotten recently and the fact that a song using POPY was charting not long ago.
>>7891 Good point, the most common person I see promoting songs is Vane Lily and other people from that general producer circle (Rice, Jamie Page, occasionally R.I.P, Weevildoing, and Carbon Monoxide). Songs that group does not promote have a much higher chance of flopping unless you're using SynthV or Miku.
I'd say it depends on more than just self promotion. I would not call my recent Teto song popular but I did notice that it's been doing numbers. I've also noticed that the YouTube algo seems to really like it, putting it in people's Vocaloid related mixes. And it seems to have been reposted on other sites like Reddit and VocaDB as well. That can help boosting its views.
One thing I notice often is that a lot of producers tend to publish songs with little to no experience and it's easy to spot that they're just getting started. For example there was a Vocaloid song I listened to recently where the mixing was poor and I could tell that they were using the default FL Studio drums. Again, this is not a bad thing: you're just getting started and we all gotta start somewhere. But the more notable your lack of experience is the more likely your song is to flop.
Ultimately I think the first song you ever compose regardless of whether it uses Vocaloid or not is bound to suck because you're just getting started. I've been making music since 2016 and have played in bands so while I'm not entirely proud of my music (I've grown to hate "A letter from..." admittedly, hence why my style has been transitioning into this shoegaze/trip hop thing recently) I at least have a grasp on all that stuff.
Catchy choruses and memorable music videos help a ton too but I haven't bothered with the latter yet.
>>7894 I do not consider myself a big producer so I don't think I have much of an impact, but I do repost new songs made by producer friends or unpopular stuff that I hear and like.
Hopefully that changes eventually. I feel like I've got something new to bring to the table and if it succeeds I plan to shed light on smaller producers. I have faith in the western Vocaloid scene.
>>7893 Yeah, I made a pretty...messily mixed song with Piko last year that got about 600 views. I've been making originals since 2019 (and fucking with FL Studio since 2018) but I've been a bit slow at learning it due to repeated burnouts and discovering I love tuning more than anything, leading to mostly covers being made. I know I suck at music but it's more about the love of the process for me.
>>7894 Honestly, it's better to leave promoting others to the song promo accounts.
Admittedly, they are losing a bit of traction these days, but unless you have a huge following and the ability to easily promote others' music, it's really only practical to promote your own and maybe your friends.
The western community needs so many things tbh, we're just lacking a lot.
>>7920 Only really because a lot of people running these accounts are younger and not really organized. They also tend to mostly be on Twitter, meanwhile JP promoters will host livestreams on NicoNico, so they actively do more than the standard twitter booster that doesn't really get seen.
>>7922 I'm glad there's JP promoters and it's not all kids on Twitter, had no idea that existed. If adults were responsible for the promotion, it'd instantly be an upgrade due to the maturity difference. Also, not being on Twitter is a plus.
>>7970 >I will continue to listen to your feedback and do my best to create an even better result with a new voice actress for UNI. So she's being recasted?
>>7973 I wonder what will happen to the voicebank we ended up getting for those who already purchased it. Will they still be able to use it or will they replace it via an update or something?.
>>7975 They’ll still be able to use it. VP did demand they remove the ability but the court decided against it so people can still use her. I imagine she’ll probably receive an update later down the line.
>>7978 Why did she think they would comply with that though? Like logically people did pay for a product, what would they replace it with? Or just give them a full refund...? That doesn't really make sense either I don't think...
>>7978 Interesting that they'd still let you keep your copy of UNI V1. I don't use SV so I thought they had an auto-update feature like Steam and they could patch the voicebank that way.
>>7985 They could do that in theory basically disabling it from your account, but it would put ST Media already in a worst spot than they already are. ST Media wouldn't be able to easily deal with so many customers demanding refunds because they can't use the product they purchased anymore and it would be anti-consumer to just keep people who haven't violated the terms of service to just up and take it away.
It's important to keep in mind this could still change. It's not the final decision from the court after all, there's still the main proceedings.
>>8142 I mean shimejis have existed for decades and serve the same purpose and these guys are charging more than 10 dollars for a DLC to change the character so I'm not surprised
To be fair the backlash feels like the Vocaloid community is running out of things to talk about due to a lack of things happening recently so they all decided to collectively attack some random AI content farm lol
>>8156 Someone made a really bad song with the triple baka squad where the music video uses AI and Twitter lost it because Twitter is Twitter. The song itself isn't really anything to go ape over, it's bland as fuck but inoffensive overall.
>>8163 Yeah, I hope they eventually find this place since they were one of the few chill posters & IA being in the first post reminded me of them Either that or discovering the song another way
>>8167 Almost everyone there sucks dude. Barely any of those threads even discuss vocal synths anymore, its all [s4s] tier shitposting and shitting on popular things.
>>8103 >>8114 >>8128 Thanks for the suggestions. I listened to half on the way down (also queued up some personal favorites) and will do the other half later. The whoo album was really strong and more freeform-feeling than I expected, great way to vibe and lose a few hours. I think I get the hype for his stuff now. I’ve only heard appy’s kyuu kurarin remix before, so I was surprised that appy_7 is rock-focused. I like the 2012 vocarock vibes. Couldn’t find the compilation album for download but I can tell you the koyori song is fuckin amazing that guy only writes bangers
>>8174 To be fair both sites have their own appeal. 4chan at this point is for shitposting since barely anyone there cares about Vocaloid beyond the popular songs and voicebanks and even less about news. 39chan is for the genuine autists.
For the first time in 39chan history the site has had less than 39 posts in one day, big producers like Utsu and mothy uploaded new songs yet no one has posted them in /rvr/, OGs like kaitoanon, lapisanon, twalam and lane have stopped posting, the new "/leek/ makes a voicebank thread" has been in limbo for some time now.
>>8176 we're still here. it's not that the site is dying but that there's literally nothing to talk about in the vocaloid community right now like >>8155 pointed out, you're worrying over nothing >lapisanon most likely still around since they're a /miku/ user unless you mean the lapisanon from /mmd/ >twalam and lane about 90% sure they're the same person given they both type passive agressively, have the same interests (higurashi and utau) and both went missing at the same time
>>8176 I think it's just that nothing super interesting is happening. The new MOTHY song is great, the new UTSU is a let down for me (Which sucks because he's one of my favorites) I'm almost begging for something major to happen but that'd cause Apollo's Dodgeball or something
>>8176 >>8181 The thing with 39chan is that the site is as active as the Vocaloid community itself. When nothing happens in the Vocaloid community 39chan gets few posts like today, but then something happens and you get a lot of activity and discussion (mostly on /leek/ since that's the go-to board).
>>8166 To be fair i don't think the average /jp/ anon gives a shit about this website, especially when we discuss wholoids all the time and women apparently make up half of it (they'll assume all the women are buddys and fuck off, which is a good thing, lol).
>>8183 >>8184 Women are a majority in the Vocaloid fandom compared to guys so this isn't surprising to me. Even on the /jp/ thread a lot of the posters are girls. (And I know this because I know some of the posters there)
>>8186 No AI and Neru sounds better, it's good that he's improving and taking criticism well, from the looks of it. Now if he could just make the song itself not ass that'd be great
