Here's what i suggest. One anon should take care of the CV->CVVC conversion of the audio files and leave the OTOing to another anon assuming they won't do it themeselves.

It feels CRAZY seeing you here because I remember when I was a little kid I made a Hitori Kanane cover on youtube (on a channel that's sadly long gone. because I was way too young to be using youtube when I made that channel. whoops.) and she was one of the UTAU that really got me into the program, like I learned it specifically because I wanted to make covers with her voice bank and Tei's. Hitori also inspired me to want my own VB when I was younger, so she's definitely a massive inspiration for Sena. It feels like everything is coming full circle!

Shirt should probably remain the same but we could make her sleeves puffy and long like Merli and Zatsune's and i like the idea of giving her butterfly headphones. Maybe that's too much though especially considering everyone wants the hair rings and beret. We gotta keep her recognizable.

I love her so much and I did adapt her as the MC for a personal project (so I technically did draw art of her through college) but it is her first utau art in like 15 years lol

Kaine is a tomboy that's constantly getting ragebaited by her partner and I see Hitori as more feminine (and maybe a little creepy?) like Shinobu Kouchou or alnst Sua though so I suppose it's more of an evolution! I've been having Hitori brainworms since I've been thinking about her again so I doodled something to contribute also :)

I like the magnet headphones, her original 2.0 design centered around them! I do think whichever way it ends up going though it'd be between the rings and the headphones since they occupy the same 'space' (and not both).

re: doodle, I was thinking about some bright tights like edelgard and I did some weird vinyl thing to keep her general shape but still show the midriff cut (important to me, personally). It doesn't show up well but she has arm gloves that go up to her palm under the armwarmers. I had a few design options but this was closest to her og age range. This one has the rings since I think they're also super cute ^^

There is a F#4 and a D#4 set at 120bpm. I wound up using recstar and the resources provided by felinewasteland, so the files themselves are the raw continuous cvvc output. I included the reclist in the files.

I remember when I did the original I also did a bit of post-processing in melodyne, but I think the F#4 set is pretty close to how v1 sounded raw.

I included a few extra breaths and the voice side terms of the TOU, thanks to whoever picks up her editing! The TOU can be edited as she comes together more for proper attribution, but I wanted to make sure I covered my bases. Let me know if there are any issues with anything :)

Admittedly my thought with the stockings was a bit more like this [img] thinking about trying to maintain some of her... edge? from v.1... It's more of a tiny creature concept like vivi than an idol image now that I think about it though, haha. Edelgard has her white hair to drag the eye back up, but the stockings are pretty loud on Hitori without anything else on her head. Just black and purple is pretty restrictive.

The problem is that A) DiffSinger is AI, like SynthV, the current Hitori voicebank has rules against that, and B) Recording for DiffSinger takes hours, even days, depending on what you're aiming for. Because you gotta record yourself singing at least 8 full songs in Japanese and 8 more in English. That's without counting the training which takes even longer.

Only thing to note is that some of the vowel/vowel changes have glottal stops between them, which I've kept in the F#4 oto. It sounds very nice in longer notes but a bit awkward in shorter ones where the phonemes would typically blend. We could use the oto to blend vowels by default by using overlap for a crossfade, then having a prefix/suffix for glottal stops ex. a い2. Would defer to other opinions though, I don't have a ton of experience.

Honestly, even back then every instance of her being used felt like a gift and not much has changed in that aspect. I’m mostly just thrilled to be getting content for her even after so many years!

I’ve always engaged with UTAUs because I love vocal synths and the collaborative creativity that comes with their music (songs, storylines, MVs, etc), so I’ve never had any goals or metrics in mind for how much she gets used or how popular she is. It’s a happy surprise each time. If I think back to 2009 I was almost using her as an avatar in a group space, so I don’t think I ever had any expectations for people to pick her up or for her to trend (aside from thinking in my heart like wouldn’t that be cool, haha)

Hitori’s gift to me has always been community, now and in the past.

I'm keeping her hair and eye color, but in general the way I feel about her is that her 1.0 design is a bit sharper and edgier and I'd like to soften her up a bit to match with the way her voice sounds.

Something a bit more idol-like might be nice, idk? Let me know the consensus on that haha. There's a lot of directions to go, from moving her more tech-wise to traditional instrument motifs (like ritsu's piano keys) to leaning back more on school uniforms.

I like the hair loops and the idea of flowers on her head, if you guys have any specific flowers you like I'd love suggestions on them. I mentioned periwinkles just because they're purple-ish and have ties to the idea of loneliness, but I'm not married to them.

As someone who recorded an UTAU in the early 2010's and thought it was ever capable of reaching the popularity of Kasane Teto this thread makes me so happy. I feel happy for anon, whose creation is being appreciated by everyone on this site 16 years later. And I'm happy to see people making new content with the new version of her UTAU.

This is kinda like what happened with Ichigo Yukaine except in that case they weren't able to re-record it due to Yukaine's voice provider's voice being extremely different from what it was in 2009.

I think that after breath samples and artwork are added to the CVVC/VCV its good to go. If we could fix the original's otoing and make it compatible with OpenUTAU (it already is but it's missing character.yaml) that would be cool too. I'll get working on the website in the meantime.

Just looking at voicebanks I have downloaded-
-breaths are in their own folder (ex. _D#4, _F#4, _breaths)
-some have oto.ini, some don't
-you can name oto entries br1,br2, etc. for each breath in the .wav file (they can all reference the same one)
-oto data for the breath won't be critically important since most users will either use the "play directly/don't resample" feature in openutau or drop them directly in a DAW

Okay this should be the most stable version of Hitori Kanane CVVC so far. I noticed the VCV has breaths and sighs which might be worth implementing into this version as well in the future. Breaths in this version are extremely loud for some reason which might or might not be moresampler's fault, but what do I know, I never include breaths in my UTAUs.

Icon, portrait and txt files all borrowed from the txt files with some minor modifications (added author name and website, localized names depending on your UTAU settings, etc) and I also took the time to remove the transparent "signature" scribble from the portrait artwork.

That's fair! I'm also not against the CVVC being EVO and the VCV being re: if the eventual goal here is to have a EVO line of revival utaus that will likely be CVVC overall. (I also did do that lost media vcv 2.0 bank back in the day so the vcv is more redux and the cvvc is more evolution haha)

I just personally liked re: for Hitori but if it's too much trouble to switch at this point then that's fine too~

I've always liked vocaloids even when it was 'weirder' to back in 2009 so it's in my soft spot, the bigger issue is that I don't have time and don't really have a reason to commit to it specifically.

I think the main intrigue of AI singers is that the ceiling of how good they can sound is higher, but everything else (community, function) isn't exclusive to it. Hitori is my love letter to the time I spent here and the community around utaus, so while I definitely wanted to revive her I am leaning on negative for converting her into an AI singer.

I don't have any drive to make a 'new' character for it right now either- so the door isn't locked shut, but it's closed for now.
