she's not doing badly on my PC space and i am surprised that all these years she has survived on google drive.

i have a very personal story with my UTAU. i was 13 years old, and i was very proud that i was going to release my first UTAUloid. its first version was one i recorded on my mom's laptop and its sound quality was horrible (it was very distorted), but then i lost the voicebank having not backed it up on the laptop, having left it on the family PC instead. and well, the family PC had its hard drive and motherboard dead several times and from there i lost her first voicebank.

but, that wasn't all. i re-recorded it with a headset my dad had given me. and i was proud of the results, even though she had a lot of noise in some samples, and half of the samples were recorded while i had a cold, so half of the UTAU had hoarse samples.

i showed my UTAUloid to the hispanic UTAU community on facebook and what i got was mockery. but also people who supported me. people made fun of the quality of the UTAU and that it didn't have an oto.ini, but nobody told me how to do it. until someone offered, and i thank them for doing it. (to this day i don't remember who it was).

she's kind of my proudest creation but she also sucks so i don't even use her.

>>2083
Release her, i'll turn her into the next adachi rei

>>2083
well? what does she sound like

>>2084
i released her back in the day actually, but i wiped (ahem… privatized) all of her content so… lol

Play this Vocaroo recording

she has a thick latin american accent due to me not knowing how to pronounce japanese. some of her phonemes are muffled and noisy.

Dead and gone sadly

>>2070
I still have one from when I was 13 and one from when I was 17 for download, both CV. The one from when I was 17 sounds entirely different from his remake from last year (21 at the time, and still)
I am cringe but I am free.

>>2070
One day I'll convince the voice provider to record a multipitch CVVC, but he has no interest in learning japanese pronunciation, so meh. Maybe a C+V english. I'd make one with my own voice but it sounds like ass honestly.

>>3583
wait do u have a c+v reclist
(maybe also a tutorial if ur extra nice)

>>3583
It's an UTAU you made with someone else's voice?

>>3586
I'm only familiar with this guide, haven't tried it yet. I do think it could be improved probably by adding ending breaths and recording the stuff in the "missing phonemes" section (DR in drive/TR in truck, plus the unique "an" sound in "can" if you're American).
The reclist is buried a couple links in under section 1. I wonder if changing the vowel recordings to common words (er->bird etc.) would yield a more natural result - if the words had hard consonants they shouldn't be hard to remove via the oto.
Apologies for the link shortener but it's a long google docs link. Creator is chevrefree and friends, main voicebank associated is Veria. https://tinyurl.com/354j6b8h
>>3619
Yeah I used a friend's voice. Technically not something I made as a child but it was made years ago and abandoned.

I never made an utau with my own voice but there is a jinriki i made about 10 years ago based on a game character floating around

I never made any but I wanted to.

>>18042
Do it! Or alternatively, become a Leeka

>>18042
It's never too late to make an Utau

>>18043
>>18047
I never really had a proper plan to begin with. Not sure if I have the right voice to be a voice provider but I'm shy and paranoid anyway. Maybe something with no voice behind it purely synthesized but that would take a lot of effort. I have a lot going on and my computers all suck.

>>18062
So a Rei type voicebank?

>>18063
Yes though I wouldn't know how to get good results or just something super generic. Not that I've entirely ruled out using my voice but I wouldn't wind up using that myself.

https://youtube.com/watch?v=oPXc62SM2yw

>>2070
I don't have a voicebank, but it's funny that this girl has a fandom all of the sudden

>>18082
It's because some guy found her and made an Igaku cover with her a few years ago

>>18082
Honestly there are so many old UTAUs with potential but they're buried in a sea of voicebanks and it's very unlikely they'll ever get big

Years later the creator came back and redesigned her

>>2070
I made my first UTAU when i was 11. The oto didn't even exist because i couldn't figure it out at the time, it was terrible.

>>32328
Same except i'm in my late 20's now and still have no idea how to OTO

>>31458
History repeats itself i guess. We're getting new Hitori now.

i was around 14 when i recorded this utau on a shitty headset mic. i was also violently ill when i recorded it. the character concept was that its a person-shaped glob of phlegm. its goal is to make the entire world sick with a terrible cold and wipe out humanity. i never made a character design for it. it has a lot of oto issues and is very difficult to mix due to the shitass microphone. i also forgot to record the z sounds.

>>32948
<*sniff*

>>32949
i made it a point to include coughing, hacking, and sniffling samples

>>32948
I like him

Apologies for sort of hijacking this thread but this question's for the millennials and older zoomers. How popular was UTAU within the fandom in 2009?, because I realized a lot of the early western UTAUs were made in 2009. I didn't join the fandom until 2 years later and by that point UTAU was well established.

>>32952
Very popular. Teto Territory was a well known song (owing to the excellent PV). Song of the Eared Robot too.
In early Vocaloid fandom, Teto was sometimes put in the same character group as Neru and Haku, and I think that increased awareness of UTAU in the West significantly. Momo, Defoko, and some of the Vipperloids like Ritsu were fast followers but I think that is more 2010-ish to me.

>>32956
Ironically the only VIPPERLOID to actually come out in 2010 was Tei, and in 2012 Hate Aino was their last documented attempt at pulling the fake character prank.

>>32957
I wouldn't be surprised if they tried again after Hate but it'd be impossible to get anyone to believe you when Crypton stopped making Vocaloids in 2010. Nowadays that kind of prank is basically impossible to carry out unless you target another synth like SV like this site did with TORIKO.

>>32956
Thanks. I assume it kind of blew up in mid to late 2000 then, right? I can't think of any western UTAUs released in 2008.

>>32952
It was in a sort of transitional state back then. Teto was well-known, but UTAU itself was just starting to become less niche. It was also before Fukkireta came out, so Teto wasn't specifically more popular than any of the Cryptonloids or Neru/Haku.
I'd say VCV coming out in late 2009 was the big turning point. One million Kenka Wakare demos

>>32962
>Kenka Wakare
Why that song specifically?

https://youtube.com/watch?v=7TdVSQc0OTs

>>32963
This version was the official demo for VCV

>>32958
Truth be told we didn't exactly bait many people like 2ch did in the 2000's, as someone who directly contributed to her existence. As far as reactions went some people were excited for release while others found the 9/11 joke in her bio offensive and that was it. Also worth mentioning is that she didn't have a DiffSinger when that was carried out, so her popularity came after the DiffSinger. Presumably due to Hioka's involvement.

>>32959
I’m not super knowledgable on when the first Western UTAU banks were made, but my guess is that it took some time for users to translate the (probably sparse) Japanese documentation. Then, once 1 or 2 people did, it became very popular.
Honestly, and this might just be my take, this created a lot of misinformation about UTAU creation on the Western side as people stumbled through it blind. Maybe it was the same on the JP side though.

>>32959
Chii Tomero was from 2008, but that was definitely before it took off. Most of his uses were from Japanese producers who were trying to download every UTAU voicebank (because that wasn't impossible back then).

>>32965 (Me)
So basically yes, trying to bait people into thinking there'll be a cool new voicebank coming out is sort of meaningless today. Each new Cryptonloid release was basically an event, but they stopped after Luka. V4 also kinda opened the gates to community made loids too with Ruby and DEX/DAINA, and now we have actual Vipperloids in various engines.

>>32968
With how gullible our side of the fandom is you'd think it'd be easier today, but i guess you're right. The cryptonloids were (and still are) the face of Vocaloid.
>>32967
I remember this guy. Did he ever receive any kind of update?.

>>32969
>Did he ever receive any kind of update?
Don't look up who owns him

>>32969
Realistically, it IS easy, because any kind of fake story or misinformation gets spread as a fact on social media in this community.

The thing is that no one will care about some company's random voicebank. No one cared about Hibiki Koto, and that's the same company that gave us Gumi, Una, Gakupo, etc.

>>32971
Fair point
>>32970
Oh, that guy

>>32971
This desu. The oversaturation in vocalsynths and the fact that anyone can get in any engine now made it impossible for 2channel and realistically anyone, to create hoax voicebanks.

>>32967
>because that wasn't impossible back then
Now it's possible but with diffsinger and deepvocal

>>32966
It was pretty hard to understand in the first place, although I imagine the language barrier didn't help. Ameya had to fix Teto's oto because /vip/ couldn't figure it out.

>>32970
>>32972
QRD on Austin?

>>32976
Just read the Maghni AI thread so you can have an idea of what went down and how this site reacted to the shitshow. 39chan might've not existed during the Stella incident but that thread made me realize how funny it would've been if it did.

I don't even want to imagine how hard otoing must've been in 2008.

Very

Imagine if Austin hadn't fucked up. Would Chii Tomero on Maghni AI have been a possibility?.

>>32988

>>32988
it's even more fucked knowing chii was the first overseas UTAU ever made

>>32973
You know, I bet it would be more easy in this day and age to make a hoax more focused on making a fake NicoNico 'lost media' Vocaloid song. People technically already do make fake Niconico style MVs like that but they're usually full of anachronisms and don't go all in with the authenticity (Usually in terms of the art style used) so I'm sure a more thought out attempt could fool a lot of people with the right planning. Maybe even leading people on with some kind of 'Help me find this lost song' wild goose chase with little tidbits of fake information injected into the discourse until revealing a fabricated MV as the last source. And perhaps give it a scary backstory and basically make a creepypasta out of a fake song. I think if the most gullible parts of the community will eat up a hoax, that would be the premise of a successful one. That's just me spitballing though.

>>33043
I've thought about doing this before, except with a fake "lost" vipperloid

>>33043
Its been suggested here already i believe. Also new Vipperloids are still being found. Denne Hibiki and that fat NEET thing UTAU were both found this decade.

I've always felt like this video is a love letter to UTAU and it makes me sad that we'll probably never have anything like this ever again

>>33512
I mean, we have a lot of talented people here. Enough to possibly make a music video like that. So maybe we can do something similar for DS?.

>>32976
From what i remember he was actually kind of a beloved figure in the UTAU community back when i was in it ages ago. The Maghni AI fiasco kinda tainted his and Natz's public images, and honestly I'm not sure if they can recover from it.

55375915_p0.jpg - 116.79 KB (640x480)

On the topic of Ichigo. It's kind of interesting to me how some of the very early western UTAU voicebanks had their own small, niche fanbase in Japan. Ichigo was in >>33492 but she also has a few songs and like 4 fanarts on Pixiv.

>>34143
Also Hitori who got a new voicebank recently had a bit of a small fanbase there as well. She's been used by some important (to me, at least) producers like Akayaka and sakizakisaki, and she has two originals

>>34143
our girl TORIKO kinda has a small fanbase there too but all the information on her is locked behind a language barrier.
there's also no content of her on pixiv or niconico so no DLC articles either.
