defoko has been popular still. I still see songs with defoko in them consistently that are recently released. Same with utau teto (although obviously synthv teto is at the forefront). I also think utau being free, open source, and having both windows and linux support (via OpenUTAU) basically ensure we're going to keep getting utau content for years to come. A kakoi revival would be cool

Honestly really wish Gekiyaku and Cecil Sakane were more popular. There's a lot of great UTAU out there but most of them end up being used almost exclusively for covers.

What are some songs featuring them? I'd love to get a taste of how their voicebanks sound from your perspective.

avatars-00….jpg - 27.80 KB (500x500)

>>148
It's hard to find originals with them due to the fact that they're both UTAU. Producers don't care much for UTAUloids outside of Rei, Defoko and Teto so a lot of the stuff you'll find are mostly covers.
Here's what Cecil sounds like:

And Gekiyaku:

https://youtube.com/watch?v=TXoBCQsZZ1w [Embed]

I feel like it's worth noting that Gekiyaku and the other ghost Kazehiki recently got Vocaloid 6 voicebanks so a lot of the original music you'll find with them doesn't use UTAU.

Sakane Cecil legit sounds like a real j-indie singer with effects applied. I'm actually stunned. Like jaw drop to the floor stunned. I'm not sure if its just the tuning but this is massively impressive

Gekiyaku is interesting too, I am impressed by how high her range can go but I'd feel like I need some more songs to see what her full range/capabilities are.

kakoi's voice provider said that she's interested in making a new utau voicebank. she said that she felt like there was something that she could've done/could've done more with kakoi, but if the new vb get made it'll be different from kakoi because her voice have changed too.
it's been 3 years since she tweeted that though, so maybe it was all just a nice pipe dream.

A diffsinger bank for her would be nice. A lot of old utau (mostly popular vipperloids) are getting diffsinger updates these days.

Hopefully not the case with Koto. With V6 she was bound to flop but now that she's getting a SynthV i hope people end up using her. Really like her voice.
>KAFU
Did she have an UTAU bank i'm not aware of? I always thought she was a CeVIO exclusive (with a cancelled SynthV).

>>332
Yea she is CeVIO but im kinda just ignoring that portion since at this functional point to me 'Vocaloid' is like the term Band-aid.

A name brand thing that was the first of its kind so it ended up being the general noun used. Sadly, the SynthV pack was indeed axed.

>>333
I'm asking because the thread is about UTAUs but yeah i agree, for the longest time "Vocaloid" has referred to vocal-synth in general due to how many engines there are now

>>334

The real question ends up being, can there be a third party to bring UTAUs and all the other 3rd party-ish stuff under one umbrella from the existing workable tools. I think that would make a proper UTAU revival possible. Other than that, they will probably stay niche unless someone uses that as their gimmick.

>>335
OpenUTAU is the closest thing to that, and there's a possibility SynthU could be released next year

Unsure about Cecil but I could've sworn Gekiyaku (and Kazehiki) are popular? I see fanart with 1k+ likes of them all the time, and even Inabacumori and Daibakuhashin have made Gekikaze songs (Daibakuhashin has made made multiple too:

https://youtube.com/watch?v=ak7OILqZPL4 [Embed]

.) Their Vocaloid and VXB releases seem to have made people regain interest a bit like SynthV did for Teto, and they're definetely leagues more popular than the majority of VOCALOID3 releases.

Even Ado is a huge Gekiyaku fan! I don't recall her showing love to any non-Cryptonloids outside of her either.

>>606
Kazehiki and Gekiyaku are both relatively popular but they're still probably wholoids to the average fan who only knows Miku and the red one from Mesmerizer

>>604
That would just be Hakaine Maiko

>>609
>they're still probably wholoids to the average fan who only knows Miku and the red one from Mesmerizer
That also applies to literally every non-Cryptonloid though? I highly doubt 12 year old PJSK kiddies even know Gakupo, Una, or Kafu lmao
The Western fandom (even the wholoid lovers) also found out about Zundamon super late, and barely know shit about talk synths Thank god..

Just found this (

https://youtube.com/watch?v=E5vC5eD3AYo [Embed]

) Gekiyaku UTAU original from last year via 2 seconds on Twitter, and I swear I know or could easily find at least like 20, despite the fact I rarely go looking for Gekiyaku content on purpose it comes to me

She may be a wholoid here but I don't think she is in the Japanese fandom which is honestly a good thing because that just prevents her from being used in unfunny talkloids or made a heckin non-binary wooby
Even then I've already seen Gekiyaku talkloids which is more proof people like her

(Forgive me if I seem rude. I am not trying to be!)

But Hakaine Maiko is made for screamo and my idea for the zombieloid would be to have it still sound somewhat human.

I made this sketch recently and came up with a backstory for the character. She's an 80's jpop idol that committed suicide as a result of harassment and stalking. Her passion for music was so strong that it managed to outlive her and she returned as a living dead person to continue singing.

It's a bit Deviantart-ish I'm aware but I honestly just really like the idea of a zombieloid.

I like this recent utau called meaty-chan. Primarily because of her design but also because she reminds me of those old CV voicebanks.

>>59
UTAU has had a steady background presence for as long as I can remember. Popular covers from good banks and with an undercurrent of who-banks - it's stable. No need for a "revival".
If anything, the popularity of rei and defoko feels unprecedented to me. There is a new appreciation for choppy banks now that realistic banks are dime a dozen. Maybe the next step is a nostalgia boom for half-realistic UTAU engine noise banks like Ritsu and Renri.
>>141
Give me more resampler support on linux. PLEASE. I hate booting into windows for utau.
>>154
>Sakane Cecil legit sounds like a real j-indie singer with effects applied.
No idea what you're talking about. She sounds very UTAU, sparkly transitions between notes and exaggerated in/out breaths. Which is a nice style imo.

>>657
As much as i love Ruko, Ritsu, etc and would love for them to become popular again i think people should start giving the whotaus a chance for once. There's some hidden gems out there but they're overshadowed by Defoko, Rei and the VIPPALOIDs (not saying any of those are bad but they're definitely more popular than your 14 year old sister's CV voicebank from 2009).

I do think theres ppl who want pedos to always exist so they can go all sadist and kill them/harass them instead of being normal and wishing for them to…. not be a threat to society and cured/fixed so they dont feel that they wanna hurt kids anymore lol
Kannade clearly hates pedophiles and people acting like he was defending them are wild. like. idk as a csa survivor I think Kannade seems like a very cool person, wanting to fix shit at it's source would prevent other kids from being hurt, instead of just killing them once u find out since that often leads to kids being hurt first???? the people starting a fuckin riot over him like that are insane fr fr.
then ppl being like "WOW U DELETING UR ACC IS SO SUS" is also insane like wdym he was being harassed by multiple people???? some ppl feel the best response to that is just leaving social media. nemlei did it and no one acted like that was super suspicious coz its a pretty normal response to a mass harassment campaign imo? I was mass harassed on twitter once and actually had no idea coz I only ever got notifications from ppl who I follow or who follow me so I only found out coz someone DM'd me like "yo you ok?" and I was like "?????? yeah why wouldnt I be?" LOL
but if u dont know all the tools and dont implement them beforehand like I did ur kind of fucked, I dont blame him for wanting to hop out coz if I noticed all the weirdos harassing me I would have been tempted to answer and would have probably had to delete too. guy seems cool, pity the fandom is Like That.

>>755
Had a stroke trying to read this but either way equating cartoon porn to actual child abuse is fucking stupid and its even more stupid that people letting lolisho live rent free in their heads is the reason we had two iconic voicebanks cancelled.

>>756
ok I also agree to that (I literally own loli doujin I dont think they relate to pedophilia at all) but I think what happened was somehow the lines got crossed into irl territory when his friends and him started bringing up that he works with criminals to rehabilitate them so he ignored the loli discussion part entirely too tbh
idk honestly that entire drama was bullshit nonsense anyway it was entirely unnecessary we deserve the voicebank ppl to come back and for these morons to fuck off into oblivion so they leave us all alone. the anti lolicon crowd would call my dad a pedophile even though hes younger than my mom coz shes short and flat chested. they all need therapy or some shit to get over their weird nonsensical lack of understanding of fiction or some shit

Okay! Topic change (but still on topic of UTAU), go!
Meiji Gahata used to be a very popular Utau, she was apparently released in collaberation with Lifulu shop. However, since the shop stopped existing, her voice bank was discontinued. (At least, that is my understanding as far as I can tell.)
It was known for being very high quality, and had a fuck ton of append banks. There was going to be an english voicebank of her released in 2016, but it's development was cancelled.
I think more people should make covers (and possibly original songs) with her again, since she was very pleasing to the ears, in my opinion.
Someone made her sing that JP version of Say So (and it seems to be the most recent cover with her I can find), so I'll embed that as an example of her voice.

sorry if i contributed to the derailing, just thought the first tldr wasnt accurate

anyway i was hoping that sometime fanloid utaus would come around… like for example making a gumi sv fanloid who's a robot, basically a powerful VM put into a cv utau. or making a zatsune utau from edited miku samples. though i guess the point of fanloids is to be an edited version of an existing voicebank lol

I've recently become obsessed with obscure voicebanks made between the 2008-2015 period. A lot of them have this unique amateurish quality to it. But what hits hard for me is the fact that we're listening to a version of the voice provider that technically no longer exists and is forever stuck in time.

I made a cover with Hitori a few days ago
In fact, if you go on Youtube and search her up then filter it by upload date, you will see that it is the first time someone has used her in nearly 10 years

Surprisingly the algorithm seems to have picked it up so hopefully more and more people will know her name and we'll see more music being made with her, perhaps even a VCV/CVVC port

Is there a reason why 90% of vocaloid producers don't use UTAU? I know the Vipperloids were popular back in the day but i only really see people use Rei and Teto now.
