>>25784
Should things like Stella or the Zaako incident from a few years ago be included?

>>25785
The Stella incident should probably be covered as well as other VO incidents but the Zaako thing was a nothingburger that was completely blown out of proportion by Western Twitter and nothing of interest really came out of it so probably not.

>>25784
Never understood the hype behind Crushed Mary even back in the day when it originally released.

Also one obscure but not disturbing fact is that Rachie (yes the vsinger) was originally going to have a V4 voicebank in the form of Sonika.

I think if we include Yan he’s mismanagement story, we should absolutely include Zan-shin and WhiteCUL

>>25803
Elaborate

>>25791
Honestly I think the Zaako thing is more reasonable given the bank was Yuki and that unlike cases with that one Uno song by comparison, this one at least had a line that people who normally wouldn’t care if it was any other bank was crossed. Rather than keep it to just Zaako though, maybe it would be better to be just a generalization of inappropriate Yuki Kaai songs? There’s definitely been worse.

>>25806
Zaako is only inappropriate if you're dirty minded. Otherwise it's just a generic love song.

>>25805
Embezzlement, stalking and abuse of voice talent, police involvement/investigation of organized crime. To make it short.

>>25807
Agree to disagree.

>>25808
Sounds like a typical day in the Korean Vocaloid fandom, lol. I didn't know the Chinese side was like that too.

>>25811
This was the Japanese side.

The incident with Yan he is significantly more tame considering it was mostly just embezzlement and rumour of what the missing funds was spent on.

>>25784
see >>2190

Aside from Yan he, Vsinger is also just lowkey a scummy company. If you read the Stardust V4 contract, you’d know they charged Quadimension about $120k just to make to make her voicebank back then.

>>25808
Wait, what? I heard about the embezzlement but I didn't know it got that bad

https://youtube.com/watch?v=9FWPs2gv5aw

>>25814
Not to downplay that, but Quadimension's failed pivot to MOBA development is my pick for the weirdest Chinese Vocaloid thing that never gets discussed overseas

>>25819
Yeah, we almost missed the other allegations had not someone noticed WhiteCUL’s VP (who was also the former CBO of the company), tweeting about the treatment she received. They burned a lot of bridges. The JP side only now has been starting to question Zan-shin’s silence.

>>25820
Honestly with how little information there was, even on the Chinese side, it’s fair why it hasn’t been talked about much. Most of their overseas fans really only care for the voicebanks.

>>25821
Most of the overseas fans can't even name a Chinaloid

>>25822
Nvm thought you were talking about english speaking fans in general

ST MEDiA would probably deserve its own separate tier on the iceberg

>>25821
I don't know how true it is, but I heard from a Chinese fan that the fallout from the Medium5 game caused most of the Chinese fandom to abandon Quadimension. Supposedly they started treating their SynthV banks as free advertising for the game and tried to get people to stop making unrelated content (ie most originals and covers). Kind of a shame, it could've been their big international break if they knew what they were doing.

>>25828
What did ST Media do

>>25833
The whole controversy with SeeU and UNI's voice providers (specifically UNI SV who had to be discontinued) and the way they responded to fans on Twitter

>>25829
This is true, they rewrote a lot of canon as well and I’ve also heard that the few beta testers confirmed gacha. It’s funny because it probably would have been better to just make a rhythm game.

>>25834
Incident with SeeU’s VP was unrelated to ST media in fairness. I do wish we got an update on UNI SV though. They previously said they were planning to make a new version with a new voicer.

>>25846
I guess they never found that new vp

>>25829
>>25844
The new canon introduced felt like a departure from what we had already learned. If they do still want to make stuff with the story they wrote for the game, they should make it a book. It’ll likely be more fleshed out as one. Regardless though, I’d love to see more out of the new characters they introduced. Pearl has been my phone background forever now.

>>25847
I think it’s more that there has been a final decision on the lawsuit yet, so they haven’t found a VP yet or said anything because they’re still going through the legal system.

>>25807
If I may offer a bit of perspective, I don’t think you necessarily need to have a dirty mind to interpret the song is dirty. If it can be understood as innuendo, it is probably innuendo. With that sentiment in mind, you understand why the outcry was so loud. It crossed a line for me myself. If the song used Miku or Una I wouldn’t have personally cared too much but at least understood where people came from, but considering the song used Yuki, who’s samples come from a child at the time, I had to ask myself a few hypotheticals.

Like what was said before, there was definitely worst songs that followed, though it’s really just a matter of establishing when it’s crossing a line. Had it been a Neru song from the get go, there would have been less people who cared either way.

You’re welcome to disagree of course. I thought it might help offer a different point of view of how it all went down without some of the more irrational arguments lol

I recall there being at least one voice provider who regretted doing it. I can't recall what character voicebank this was for or who the VA was, I just remember it being a girl and this was before AI synthesis. I do not recall the reasons well either.

>>25806
They just misinterpreted it from the video and lack of knowledge of Japanese and trying to get attention for themselves. Big nothing from complete outsiders.

>>25869
I would not be surprised if Yuki's VP regrets it tbh

>>25871
Iirc Yuki’s VP leaves a message every few years so I don’t think it’s her.

The only instance I can think of something like that was Luka’s but she seemed to be joking at the time. I also remember a lot of people actively disliking the recording process before AI.

>>25869
Not sure why that autocorrected to VA instead of VP. May have been thinking it was state abbreviation lol
>>25871
No, it wasn't her. I think the reason for regret was it overshadowing her singing career or something like that but I do not remember

>>25873
>I also remember a lot of people actively disliking the recording process before AI.
I'd believe it. I have friends with wonderful, lovely voices who I'd love to turn into UTAU, but the recording is too weird for them. They called it Gregorian chants. I guess it's unintuitive if you're used to actual singing.

>>25877
Off topic but maybe someone should write a song to sing acapella that integrates the process into it to get around those sorts of people.

>>25879
At that rate it’s just easier to make a AI vb

>>25885
DiffSinger doesn't require the same recording methods as UTAU, you can just talk or sing, but labeling and training are still a pain in the ass

Ruby Diffsinger could be included

>>25946
The fact that Ruby DS can't come out due to VocaTone possibly owning the rights to her and RVBY being in limbo due to Maghni AI itself being in limbo

I'm not a fan of Ruby but It probably hurts to be one.

>>25953
I don't know what's worse. Not having any updates at all or having these sneak peeks of voicebanks that might never come out.

>>25953
Not a rights issue with VocaTone to be exact, if anything it’s an issue with the fact they used the Vocaloid samples for her.

>>25977
Does that mean Misha could release if she recorded new clips?

Muta, X Studio, and Chinese vsynths in general

>>26048
>X Studio
What's what, Elon Musk's vocal-synth?

>>25980
In theory yes. The only rights obstacle in theory would be PFX but I assume that’s sorted out already.

>>26051
Nah, Microsoft surprisingly, though I think it was sold to netease or something related to them in the last few years.

>>25806
What if the producer just liked the way the voicebank sounds though? What's the big fuss?

>>26085
From what I remember Hiiragi said that the song was inspired by the relationship dynamic between Takagi-san and Nishikata from Karakai Jouzu no Takagi-san. It's not inherently sexual but I guess a lot of it can be interpreted as sexual innuendos due to Kusogaki overlapping a little with Mesugaki (which is essentially a sexualized version of the former).

Here's the template btw

>>26085
It’s the fact that the recordings came from an actual child. Even though Yuki’s vp has since grown up, she was still recorded when she was a kid. If it was a bank like Una, there’d still be discourse, but no where near as much as it was with Yuki.

>>26102
Should've been a Rana song from day one. Unfortunately Rana is doomed to be a wholoid for eternity.

Since that's not a well known fact i guess you could put it in the chart.

>>26171
How did those two leak in the first place especially when their creator is dead

>>26259
I don't know the details, but the western dev scene has been pretty bad at keeping things private, so either one of his staff trusted the wrong person or leaked the files themselves

Chuchu and King also leaked, btw, but they were sort of open to the public in the first place
Vivi's unfinished voicebank did too

Also Neuro-sama who isn't a vocal synth but also kinda is one at the same time is trained on Microsoft Azure TTS samples if I'm not mistaken.

I saw a bunch of people repeating a few ideas about this song being about child prostitutes or something, but the translation suggests to me that it's about some youkai encouraging village children to torment and sacrifice a cat for entertainment. There's the line about the three-legged cat's collar thrown on a tree, and something being thrown into a fire. Much of lyrics evoke both ceremonial music and songs used as part of children's games. I get a clear imagine of children dancing around a bonfire while the cat gets cooked alive. The fandom wiki quotes Hachi saying "he meant to depict the cruelty of innocent children." I think this interpretation fits more closely.

I imagine the child prostitution thing might be a myth that western audiences came up with because they didn't have access to a translation of the extra captions, which aren't part of the lyrics. But I'm also not very confident that I'm right. It's already quite an unsettling song so I can see why people might come up with something like that. I really like it though, and the brutal honesty of depicting the dark side of innocence really resonates with me for some reason. I feel all kinds of uncomfortable given how other people interpret it though lol.

Admittedly, it might take a bit longer than planned. I do hope to get it out tonight, but on top of the new section with the updates from this week, there's some new weirdness I noticed that has resulted in me adding a bit more. It's basically gotten to the point of me asking why there hasn't been any articles on the Japanese net about this yet. Still planning to publish it anyway, I think I'll be safe, but I'm worried I might see some trouble thinking about it.

>>27445
Not that anon but unless you use a tripcode like you're doing right now, no one really knows who you are. You could just make a different thread for it (assuming it doesn't break the no drama/gossip rule).

>>27446
Nah, it's getting published on my public blog. It's gonna be public no matter what.

>>27446
They shouldn't use a tripcode at all.

>>27449
I think it's fine to use a tripcode if you're a producer but yeah might be a good idea to limit that to production related threads / discussion

>>27449
Then why are there tripcodes?

>>27449
I get where this anon's coming from, as on oldfag to anonymous image boards we treat anons using trip codes differently in general, because the idea is that it goes against the spirit of an anonymous imageboard. We probably still hold that stigma deep down. Even so though, it doesn't really matter in the end IMO and I'm guilty of it because people identify me through my posting habits anyway.

>>27459
To be honest I don't mind it even as an oldfag myself, but it could also be that I never really minded tripfags in the first place. I remember /jp/ having a lot back in the day.

Either way 39chan isn't 4chan. I think tripfags are fine so long as they're creators like Hioka who posts here every once in a while or producers.

>>27461
I'm one of those people who finds them annoying but I agree that producers and creators in general can use them if they want to.

Tbh I only use my trip code when I feel I need to add credibility or it pertains to an activity that I already do publicly. Majority of the time I’m just Mikudayo lol

This article is going up under my name regardless. It needs to be my blog so it has a bit more credibility than a thread. I’m scared of running into issues but if they do come my way, I’m willing to fight it.

I literally have nothing to lose if they try anything and everything I have is stuff that’s already been made public. If something happens, it’s not in their favour. Also like, I don’t think they lurk on here. The CEO is too busy live streaming to give a shit.

>>27473
TLDR just ‘cause I have a pussy doesn’t mean I am one lmao

>>27473
>when I feel I need to add credibility
The entire value of anonymous posting is that posts should speak for themselves and aren't tied to the credibility of a user name or identity. At that point, we should all be posting with names and treating this like a forum, if identity is that tethered to what we're all saying. If you can't provide evidence in a post itself to support an argument or discussion without putting your name on it, what value does that post really have other than inflating an ego or appealing to authority?
To clarify for >>27451, it's always been fine on any BBS to use a tripcode when there's a purpose, like if you're organizing something, running a Q&A, or anywhere a persistent identity might be useful. Using them as a crutch makes posting about the posters themselves, the same way you might deride someone using an avatar for every post.
Sorry to /meta/ this thread though.

If it had anything to do with inflating ego, I wouldn't be posting here in the first place lol I get why you feel that way though. I just genuinely feel attaching some sort of name helps it sound like I'm not pulling shit outta my ass.

To keep this somewhat back on topic, I've basically been doing a full re-write, no slacking on my end. This is currently the word count. I can't remember the exact character limit here, but this is one of the reasons why I don't put a thread here. Not that it would be a bad idea to make a thread here, but it would be better to make a thread to discuss this thing when I'm done rather than put this whole thing in a thread here.

Admittedly hoping people get a kick when they see the thumbnail for this thing bahaha.

Here is one for the bottom of your iceberg because I doubt anyone knows who the fuck I am talking about unless you were involved in anime convention live programming +10 years ago. Some really old and niche spilt tea.

Wolf Neve was a fucking creep. He only ever did Vocaloid fan concerts as a means to extract money from anime conventions. He would use the clout he gained from hosting the Vocaloid related events at anime conventions to knowingly creep on minors at said conventions up to his room. A room mind you the con organizers had paid for because the fucker always demanded rooms from convention organizers as part of his compensation package if they wanted a Vocaloid event. Fucker had no discretion about it either, took pride and bragged about taking advantage of conventions and teens if you ever got invited to one of his room parties after the concert and he was drunk enough. He took advantage of people like NeutrinoP and EmpathP and burned a lot of bridges but most of his collaborators don't like talking about him. Fuck TempoP for every introducing the leech to the Vocaloid scene and giving him the initial credibility he needed to run all his events. He really took advantage of cons (and people) because the community in the west was so starved for fan concerts pre-Mikunopolis/MikuExpo.
