Myspace was *the* indie music scene on the web when it was big. It might seem to strange to you looking back on it, but you might feel the same way in a far flung future about someone saying it was weird that Miku had a Twitter profile where she shitposted.
>>

I already feel that way about some of the existing ones

Social media marketing back then was a lot less in-your-face and more charming. I'll take some random guy at Zero-G LARPing as a British pop idol (Sonika Twitter) over someone just tweeting random stuff.

Remembered another oddball, iirc, one of the VocaTone devs revealed that this was a legitimate project a few years back. We still don’t have the full story on what happened to this bank or the company behind it.

DAY ONE:
chii tomero (地位トメロ) was the first UTAUloid that was created outside of japan, and also the first american UTAUloid. legendmaker12, also known as gregory austin, created and voiced him, and nowadays he is the president of vocatone! he's actively working on the upcoming singing synthesizer maghni AI.
>>
>>10157
I hope he ends up on Maghni AI somehow. If that ever comes out.

oops, forgot to continue, but here we go

DAY TWO:
did you know that back in 2018 we were supposed to get a trilingual VOCALOID named zing? this character originally came from a mobile rhythm game called zion. she was originally announced in 2017, but we didn't got much from her after it. she would have been capable of singing in mandarin, japanese and english.

this cancelled voicebank is known for having a fake demo song sung poorly by an anonymous person, which lead to people thinking she was a hoax. and to make it even crazier, the last post on her character twitter account was an april fool's joke saying she would have an AV debut soon.

as of today, zion's game server provider got bankrupt in 2020, which caused the game to close its doors. it is very unlikely there's a chance about releasing zing as a vocaloid/vsynth to this day

DAY THREE:

known UTAUloid ryone yami was initially based on the obscure 4chan meme "ecstasy A.K.A. darks", their previous name was also known as zetsuchoukan yami. you could say their initial concept was a yaoified meme. people don't do any yaoificated memes for UTAUloids nowadays

DAY FOUR: yokune ruko's (♀) VP, who is named kirika (hikachi yuu), made two UTAUloids after voicing ruko, these are mikura iri and iru. both characters have a COEIROINK voicebank too!
>>
>>10196
Aquatrax did actually release another game that featured Zing too, I can’t remember the name tho. I believe servers closed for it as well tho. I think that was her singer too rather than a vb but I believe there was intent to make it real. These things just don’t always go as planned.
>>
>>10259
i did notice they made another game later, but it still closed its doors. i wonder if the voice on the supposed demo was the voice of her VP singing but the bad recording of the audio makes it very unlikely

turning existing characters into a vocaloid parody was common at the time. one example that inspired several derivative characters or parodies was kazune miku (和音ミク), a parody of kamichama karin's character kujou kazune. this parody was created by the author of the manga herself, koge donbo.

There's a collection of albums under the name MUSIC✕STUDY PROJECT published by Gakken Plus which is basically a bunch of songs for Japanese students to listen and study to. Each album has its own theme, may it be Japanese history, world history, science, etc. All the songs are genuinely masterpieces and I implore anons to listen to them. ボカロで覚える高校世界史 is the best album of them all in my opinion. Attached in the embed is a song about the French Revolution, and it's one of my favorite Vocaloid songs ever. It's a fun project and I hope one day Gakken decides to make more. https://vocadb.net/Ar/48833

Oh shit someone else knows about this! There's a song by とあ that's just about the post-Napoleonic period up to the First World War. As a massive fan of とあ and a history buff, it was surprisingly enjoyable. (plus there's this song

Also, there's a song by ELECTROCUTICA that covers the European culture through the classical period to the Renaissance which still has that classic ELECTROCUTICA feel to it.

The entirety of that project is just amazing.

As important as she is to /leek/ culture I don't know if I'd go as far as to call her "our Kasane Teto". She's the first UTAU made by /leek/ but she wasn't really made with a purpose in mind like TORIKO who was made to bait SV users. I'd say TORIKO would be a better contender for that title. Shame she's the one Leekaloid who got fucked over the most out of all of them.

as for their exclusive UTAUloids, these were voiced by famous japanese voice actors and celebrities, and some known utaite too.

these magazine issues would be distributed around april 2011 to may 2013.

DAY TWENTY ONE: did you know that there was a concept for a sachiko VIPPERloid before sachiko's vocaloid release? her name was ryoko sakurane (桜音リョウコ), and she would be described as "autotuned/pitched up sachiko". this predates sachiko's vocaloid VB, since ryoko would be conceptualized in 2013. her backstory implies her being from a poor country from the middle east, where conflicts are constant. she met a japanese volunteer soldier, fell in love with him, but he died. sakurane died, but now she sings for fallen soldiers.

considering she would be conceptualized by the same project as erusalem, it seems she would be related to her. erusalem was one of the latest VIPPERloids that were released, and she would be one made for the act of raising awareness to conflicts in the middle east.

DAY THIRTY TWO: did you know about loline com? without him, maybe UTAU wouldn't exist! around 2007, the utaite LOLI.COM would release a series of audio samples recorded by him, this character with his voice samples being called loline com. ameya, UTAU's creator, would create a voice synth program so loline com's samples would be used in an easier way, this program being called LoliSoft. years later, LoliSoft would be repurposed as the already known voice synth software UTAU. around 2009 loline com received a proper character design.

DAY NINETY FIVE: did you know about the term "miku formula"? this term was coined in the first vocaloid china character creation contest (now known as vsinger), and was used to refer to elements commonly found in female designs based on hatsune miku, specifically elements such as thigh-high boots, sleeveless shirts, and miniskirts, whether used together or separately. this criticism of designs that were influenced by miku sparked interest during the vocaloid china contest, and also made its way on a small part of the community in the west. do you think the miku formula is good or bad? i think it's okay, personally!

I hope the V6 they're about to release improves her English because the current Miku English voicebank sounds like nails on a chalkboard to me. This unreleased V2 sounds ... surprisingly good though.

The video actually used to just say "Miku English" early on. It was changed to say "Vocaloid 3" after the subsequent release and reveal.

I wouldn't say it's necessarily incorrect as everything from the V2 beta was moved to her V3 bank, but ya, the uploader changed the video title early on.

I remember seeing this video all those years ago and being excited. Miku V3 English still remains my favourite of her 2 English banks. Her darker tone is just so lovely. I would have loved to have played around with the V2 beta if it was ever made public back then.

DAY ONE HUNDRED SEVEN: did you know about rokune onyx? well, the internet doesn't seem to know about her either. she's a mysterious UTAUloid and she was only listed in two spanish-speaking UTAU blogs, her VB link is dead and the only person who has used her VB publicly won't give it away. i wonder if she's a very personal UTAU, or maybe one that got lost to time? or maybe.... she's an stolen VB?

she's almost as mysterious as ashley!

DAY ONE HUNDRED EIGHT: did you know about UTAU100%? this is a project based on the WINDOWS100% voicebanks for UTAU, it distributes a digital magazine that has the same purpose as the original WINDOWS100% magazines; they bring tips, tricks, tutorials and even gives out voicebanks!
>>
>>15821
I thought this was going to be an old thing, but it's actually ongoing right now
>>
>>15841
Correct me if I'm wrong but hasn't Windows100% been around for almost 2 decades at this point?
>>
>>15846
I'm not certain how long but it's been around for a long time for sure, but I was referring to UTAU100%
>>
I was about to say that it looked very western then i saw the logo

A lot of people are probably familiar or have seen this GUMI floating around but the arcade rhythm game Pop'n Music has an easter egg for the character named Poet in which her 3P alt is just Miku

I would be willing to say that any Crypton owned voicebank outside of MeiKai and the CV series is dead. There's no way they'd make something new, right?.
>>
>>15883
I wouldn’t say never. I do see them eventually creating a new bank but under 2 conditions; to add something fresh to the current cast of characters that isn’t just a new design and after all of the current cast at the very least has been released on NT.

Even so with those conditions in mind there’s still others to kind of think about. I don’t think project if would ever come back for example and CV04, assuming the likely case it was voiced by Yuki Kaji previously, if worked on again would need to restart from scratch. Essentially these projects if they came back would not have the same identity to put it short.

So not impossible but I don’t think we’ll see anything new-new for at least a good few years.
>>
>>15910
Highly doubt they'll add anything to their current cast of characters. Luka became the last when they scrapped CV04. If they make a new VB it'll be something more experimental like Project If.
>>
>>15910
To be honest, the whole "we'll come back to this after we finish upgrading the other voicebanks" thing was already optimistic in the V3 era, and now their voicebank development team seems to be completely underwater. They'd need to start prioritizing things so that they can actually keep up with the industry.

DAY ONE HUNDRED NINE: did you know luo tianyi had a collaboration with the sanitary pads brand whisper in 2019?

yeah.
>>
>>15919
Prioritize what. The AI stuff?.
They probably will, I doubt Miku V6 will be their last AI bank.
>>
>>15926
Getting the voicebanks out faster, specifically. Like, Miku V6 is a really late release as it is, so there's not much hope that the rest of the Cryptonloids are coming to that engine. If history tells us anything, they'll probably start on one, convert it to a V7 bank partway through, and then oops Miku V6 is outdated now so we have to make Miku V7... you get the idea.
>>
>>15933
I want to believe that they've learned from their mistakes (V4, V5) and won't kill V6 this early. Especially when it had a rough launch and and is only now beginning to take off.
>>
Miku has been re released on every version of Vocaloid so far so I could see them making a V7.
>>
>>15936
This
>>
>>15934
I also hope V6 lasts long enough. I know it was hated on release but I've grown to really like it.
>>
To be a bit frank, CFM isn't even developing Miku V6. It's Yamaha under the supervision of wat and Itoh.

Unless CFM's development team is working on something else we don't know about, they're currently focused entirely on the NT banks.
>>
>>15968
I guess they really needed that Miku V6

DAY ONE HUNDRED TEN: did you know about the "sequencer" flash apps? vocalosequencer were a series of simple swf files that would let you compose a melody using samples taken from vocaloid voicebanks! those available were yuyusequencer, gachasequencer, lilysequencer and mikusequencer. these apps were developed by bumpy factory co., ltd., a corporation that manages VOCALOMAKETS.

The bump limit was raised to 600 a couple months ago because 39chan became faster and the mods wanted to prevent threads from getting locked so fast.

It's more of a Miku Expo fact but for California, Miku Expo NA and The Game Awards has been sharing the same venue for more than a decade now after the 2026 concert. Expo started using it in 2014 and TGA at 2015.
