The idea of Osana is that she's a symbol of protest against draconian censorship laws. So let her be used as that. That way regardless of whether OSA/KOSA/SCREEN fade into irrelevance Osana will continue to be used to mock those who censor.

A bit of a controversial one but i think her color palette should be redone entirely. Blue doesn't feel very fitting for a voicebank based off Rana and people might confuse her for a Miku derivative.

Too bad /leek/ sucks at naming characters

Are there any Japanese anons in here? I came up with Osana Urusawa (うる沢幼). Osana, if I'm not mistaken, roughly translates to young/childhood. Urusawa is allegedly "noisy swamp" and a pun on Urusai (うるさい) - "Annoying, shut up". Don't know if it makes sense, though. Sena's name had to be verified by someone fluent in the language.

>>10021
So if her name makes sense and isn't too gaijin, it would roughly translate to "Annoying/noisy kid" or "Annoying/noisy young person" which fits her personality. Thoughts?.

>>10999
Ok fine, I'm that one anon living in Japan. What ideas are we looking at? I'm not good at coming up with names but I can at least give ideas for the kanji

>>11178
I think anons are looking for anything that works and doesn't sound extremely gaijin. That's why Tsukuyomi Sena was picked for the first UTAU and Ikiryo Shinya for the last one.

I think what anons need is a brainstorming session. I'm shit at Japanese but I was thinking her last name could be something akin to "poisonous tongue" or "sharped tongued". My other suggestion was ハラ written in fancy kanji since words like セクハラ and パワハラ exist. Super gaijin I know but nobody else is putting things out there so

>>11181
Why tongue related stuff specifically? Is that some controversy related pun?

Because her whole gag's that she's censorship-happy while contradicting herself at the same time

>>11182
I was thinking of the idiom itself. Not exactly related to censorship but the words that she spews out is literal poison or something akin to that. Also that snakes are well known for their tongues and some are venomous. Writing this out made me realize how stupid as fuck it kinda sounds but I implore anons to spew out whatever is on their mind. As long as we say things that give each other ideas is good. If we can't decide on a last name before the end of the month we can always just call her Osana kek

There was a suggestion here but it needs to be checked by someone who knows Nihongo >>10021

>>11187
Well it's not wrong, as long as there's a reading of a kanji recorded somewhere (it was in this poem 500 years ago!) you can basically use whatever you want for anything. Going with urusawa, 潤 for uru could be good since it means damp/moist, but then with the sawa　沢 provided, that actually makes a word 潤沢 (read as juntaku, means abundant)

Urusawa Osana it is then

So how do you write her full name in Japanese

its been interesting to see her design evolve from a mesugaki miku with an eraser in her pocket to a horny policewoman with a stop sign

If you guys are struggling with names, why not look at the names of UTAU voicebanks for ideas?
https://dic.nicovideo.jp/a/utau%E9%9F%B3%E5%A3%B0%E3%83%A9%E3%82%A4%E3%83%96%E3%83%A9%E3%83%AA%E4%B8%80%E8%A6%A7
Make sure you refer to the 女声 section.

If we wanted to be a little cliche, then we could slap on the kanjis 歌,唄,音, or 詩 for her family name. (Primarily inspired by 初音, 鏡音, 巡音 I guess, or because y'know, sound/singing and they're voicebanks)

For example:
〇音オサナ, 〇歌オサナ, 〇唄オサナ, etc.

鬧音オサナ? 警音オサナ? 面倒音オサナ? (lol)
I'm terrible with names and wordplay (especially in Japanese), so someone who's competent pick up the torch for me.

>>11253
or hell, just call her オサナ and leave it as is if you really wanted to

>>11253
>Naone Osana
I like this one

>>11357
Ok let's say that we go with Osana Naone. We'd still need to come up with a bio. There were some ideas thrown around earlier in the thread and I like the heavy Koharu influence.

>>11358
we already have a character item: the stop sign. her age is 19 i think? i don't know if we ever settled on a specific age. a bio is not entirely necessary since akita neru doesn't have one and leaving things up for interpretation gives producers and artists some creative liberties. all we need is a name (i like osana naone) and height/weight.

osanaconce….png - 642.04 KB (736x1027)

Updated boxart. Added logo and changed FANLOID to BANLOID.

(Quick note: I don't know if 鬧音 spells out Naone, or if Naone actually means anything in Japanese)

>>11366
Will update this boxart if it turns out that 鬧音 doesn't mean Naone

>>11357
>>11358
>>11364

(psst if you guys are talking about 鬧音 then it would most likely be read as Toune Osana, Doune Osana, or Sawagane Osana -- last one being the one had in mind)
I see where you got it from though, it's used in Chinese more often than in Japanese (as in virtually non-existant except in very old words), so it got the modern-day Chinese reading of (nào) in Google Translate's transcription thingy.

警音 would be Keine (kei-ne, kei as in keitai phone)
面倒音 would be Mendoune, or maybe mendou-on (this sounds really stupid so don't use this one pls)

sorry for not transcribing it properly first time around

Can some drawfag here draw this

We are so close yet so far. At this point I'm considering learning Japanese with the sole purpose of giving this motherfucker a name.

>>11368
Alright, I've calmed myself.
TL;DR: They're valid readings. Maybe a bit unusual but not necessarily forbidden. Japanese names are enigmas.
Had to go through https://myoji-yurai.net/prefectureRanking.htm and some dictionaries to REALLY make sure.
Used surnames for those examples but considering we're trying to figure one out, it would be best to figure out their reading patterns.

Japanese surnames AND first names have the potential for purely kun'yomi (Japanese readings, roughly 80% of them are). For example: 高橋, 田中, 鈴木, 山本, 吉田, 山田, 山口, 山崎, 前田, 金子, 小泉, 塚本, 今村, 今井, 松本, etc.

...or purely on'yomi (Chinese-derived readings), some common examples being 加藤, 菊池, 古賀, 佐藤, 後藤, 安藤, 久保, etc (common on'yomi surnames primarily involving the kanji 藤 for some reason, guess it's a common flower).

They can be mixed too as in 佐々木 (Sasaki; 佐 being the on'yomi whilst 木 is the kun'yomi. or 阿部 (Abe: 阿 being the on'yomi, 部 being the kun'yomi), 大久保 (Ookubo: 大 being the kun'yomi, 久保 both being on'yomi).

Of course, there are the off-chances where they can be all at once. 土屋 can be read as Tsuchiya (purely kun'yomi), or could technically be toya/doya (a mix of kun'yomi & on'yomi, rare). 名和 could be Nawa (purely kun'yomi) or Meiwa (a mix). 渡部 is usually Watanabe or Watabe (both kun'yomi), and could technically be Watabu (a mix, although very rarely read this way).

Also, 荒音 (Arane) is a new name idea that popped up into my mind while doing this. (Both kun'yomi and makes sense for her character!) More names coming, probably.

if i somehow got something wrong then i'm gonna die internally, im really tired

>>11383
naone most certainly not a valid reading though probably, fyi, but who fucking knows with japanese names

Toune it is then

So Toune?

>>11389
Sawtowne

>>11383
I like Arane.
Also so far her age is 19 and we haven't decided on her height and weight. Her original concept art makes her look short. I say we keep her a bit short like 162cm.

>>11394
>Age 19

>>11484
In Sena's case the VP volunteered to own her, in Toriko's there were two teams working on her: Voxsoft was the team working on the website, final render and promotional stuff while the other team was working on things like the details and the voicebank. In the end Voxsoft ended up claiming her.

No one has really claimed Osana.

>>11486
>>11485
Let kiyo own Osana, their art is fire

>>11383
>>11402

Damn, is this how parents feel when they need to name their kid?

If you guys are happy with Toune, then I'll probably keep the reading that way. I do propose that we change the first kanji, as I realized that if someone saw it, they'll probably struggle reading it, and have trouble actually typing down the kanji itself. Whoops.

I'll put some other of my stupid name ideas on here too. Hopefully they represent what you guys have established for her character or her themes. Personally I see her has a chaotic or a strict figure, destroying her own reputation from her own recklessness by establishing extremely harsh measures on others and by being extremely annoying, so that is bound to influence my name ideas.

Option One: 闘音 - Toune (First kanji representing battle, war, a fight, etc. She seems like someone to pick a fight about trivial matters, no?)
Option Two: 透音 - Toune (Transparent sound. I just thought this sounded nice.)
Option Three: 倒音 - Toune (First kanji representing collapse, fall, breaking down, overthrow, etc.)
All read as Toune if you guys reaaally like the sound of her surname.

reply too damn long apparently, 1/2

>>11497
2/2

Additional surname ideas that I also thought of (or already thought of):

荒音 - Arane (First kanji representing roughness, crudeness, causing damage, etc.)
蚊鳴 - Kanaru (Literally meaning the buzzing of a mosquito, insignificant and annoying.)
薊 - Azami (Within Japanese flower language, the thistle has a bunch of meanings -- all mostly negative -- however strictness is the one that I'm focused on. Maybe 薊音 [Azamine] or 薊野 [Azamino; field of thistles] would be a decent surname too.)
毒音 - Dokune (First kanji representing toxin, poison, spite, harm, etc. Kinda ran out of ideas, so I guess that's something,)

I wish I was more creative but that's all I've got for the time being. If you guys think that the surnames provided don't represent the character you had in mind, then shoot me something. I'll probably set up a poll once I've figured out how strawpoll works and when you guys are pretty confident on what you see.

>>11498
蚊鳴 suits her better than Toune lol

>>11499
Well the first Toune (鬧音) that I had in mind meant more something like 'sound of a quarrel' or 'sound of a ruckus', so they're similar I guess.

>>11525
Thank god her name was finally decided. Sorry I couldn't join in for that part fully. I'm not that good with Japanese names TwT

post on >>>/o/

>>11544
I forgot about the commercial permissions oops
I'm fine with her image being used with commercialized music, but anything else is permission required.

>>11547
>but anything else is permission required.
Does that mean we require permission for nsfw? because technically her voicebank is just Rana so modifications to her voicebank / commercial rights would be the same as Rana's.

Or are you talking about merch and stuff.

>>11548
Just for merch itself if it's planned to be mass produced fan items for online sale, but idk if that will ever happen It's more of wanting to be aware and may want to grab something for myself.

Can someone redraw this image of Jack Black as her

>>11579
Smith Hioka recently reposted the TCC page for Osana on Twitter recently. It's nice to see the creator of such a big fanloid as Neru recognizing her.

Thoughts on making her catchphrase "Stop in the name of the law" ?

>>11665
Oh wow, you're right

>>11666
Cliche, but she IS a policewoman so it's fitting.

>>11588
seconding

>>11665
And she still doesn't have any covers or original songs. Change this.

>>11672
see >>11556

>>11666
yeah this is good

No covers?

Have any V6 users here managed to get her to sound as intended? I'm following the V5 settings but she sounds nothing like this >>10023

>>11834
For better or worse i'm a tunelab user

How are we even supposed to reach the guy who manages Osana if they have no internet presence outside 39ch? Smith Hioka at least has a blog and Twitter.

>>11924

>>11980
thank you for giving us osa

>>11981
No problem!

I also want to say a thank you for the others who have come and helped make her possible! To all who made concepts as well the ones who figured out her name and character! Without you all she wouldn't have been made. I hope to see what plans you all got for her.

Now I need to get Rana's voicebank lol

Seconding this, maybe I'll make my own.

Come to think about it. Is Osana the first original 'loid to come out of this site that wasn't made on /leek/?.

>>12751

I think it's pretty fitting actually. Everybody forgot about her, just like everybody forgot about the actual OSA laws. But she's still out there.

Realizing I should post the redraw on this thread instead. I hope her laws don't pass in the US

>>30934
Nice and yeah it is getting scary how this became a global movement that the most tyrannical governments are jumping on too but that somehow isnt raising everyones red flags to get out the pitchforks and roast some politicians since they think age verification just means the old box of asking "are you __+?"

>>30934
They're allegedly being scrapped in the UK but i wouldn't count that as a victory just yet. Don't lose hope.
