Una SV was so underwhelming to me imo..feels, sounds, and looks like some random utaite and not my cute denpa loli..

I prefer UTAU Teto to SV Teto. I like how SV sounds but her pitch is lower (that probably has something to do with the voice provider aging though) and has too much vibrato.

I never liked ECHO and I kind of don't get why it gets so much praise… there's nothing about it that stands out to me, except I guess the PV?

>>859
For me it's mainly because it's one of those songs that make me want to jump and sing my heart out. I grew up listening to it so I know the lyrics from start to finish. I think the reason it's popular is both because of the PV and because it was released at the peak of the "edgy" era of Vocaloid. Calalini had come out 2 years earlier and Wysteria had come out the same year.

Not much of an unpopular opinion but i dislike "Miku oo ee oo". I respect Anamanaguchi as a band but that song screams "I was forced to write this" and Miku's EN voicebank sounds really bad.

The only people i've seen who can make EN Miku sound good are SAWTOWNE and CircusP.

>>860
That's totally fair, I think my issue is that I was in high school when it came out, and it was like "why is this song so simple?". It makes more sense as the kind of thing that you'd watch when you're a kid first getting into Vocaloid. There's definitely a lot of songs I like because they're really nostalgic.

i think i understand why someone wouldn't like english/non-asian-language vocaloid songs, but i think a lot of it is because they only look at the most popular shit. a lot of getting popular is about appealing to edgy 13 year olds rather than making good or unique music - or it's just about making the most boring sounding electronic pop music imaginable (though i do understand this has the widest appeal). good producers get overshadowed a lot by the crap… just searching "synthv original" and sorting by upload date gives some pretty good results

also don't get me wrong i like edgy music but i want it to come from an actual place in someone's heart rather than just 'there are bodies on da wall and i am eating rats in my silly bowl' as lyrics

I got into CircusP through Creepy Toast so y'know…..
I was a dumb kiddo in middle school (or possibly just entering high school) and thought it was the most awesome thing idk what was wrong with me lmao

>>864
To be fair Circus is probably the best out of the older, popular english vocaPs so not a bad introduction. I still dig iNSaNiTY and aiSeNMa.

>>863
I feel this, I'd be really interested in English song recs for legit underrated stuff. There's a lot more producers now compared to when it was like, five people who all knew each other

I love the SP banks..Meiko, Luka, and Kaito could use some work but the other 3 sound good to me, kinda like what I wish NT sounded like

>>868
The kagamines are hard to fuck up

I really hate when people draw Adachi Rei without joints.

I think vidrel should be displayed in a museum

I really like cevio's engine noise, it makes KAFU and RIME sound cuter.

It's really annoying when a producer makes a song that gets really popular and then starts to make every song afterwards similar to that one.

It just hit me that next year Miku will be turning 18. Not the character but the actual voicebank.

Sometimes i feel like i'm too old to enjoy Vocaloid, especially when now the fandom consists almost entirely of PJSK kids, but it comforts me to see people way older than me in their 30's and 40's still go to Miku related events and enjoy the songs as much as i do.

I like Pearto.

No i don't use twitter or reddit.

https://youtube.com/watch?v=uB_jQ8H2Yeg

I've mentioned this to a couple of friends before but i see KLY/Issen Kounen as a celebration of not just Vocaloid but also Vocaloid culture. Good that the original version of it was added to PJSK recently but i never want to hear a human cover of this, not even by utaites.

>>859
Well, for starters, the era of ENGloid ECHO belongs to was remarkable for having many producers who were for the most part unskilled, underage and only attracted other English speakers from within the fandom itself. The two best English producers back then were Crusher and Circus and they just so happened to form a duo at the time called "CIRCRUSH" which made ECHO. For the time it was a really well produced song from the English side of the Vocaloid community, the music video is iconic and so is the song's chrous so it ended up becoming a hit in both the EN/JP sides with some popular producers and utaites covering and remixing the song (most notably Giga/REOL).

The CIRCRUSH duo lasted about 2 years because they had a fight but I can't recall the details. Most people attribute the song to just Crusher but Circus did the mastering and tuning.

f49a3bc1a6….jpg - 378.27 KB (3508x2480)

To this day i still hate myself for moving accounts on both Steam/Pisscord and losing contact with both beat_shobon (I actually knew him when he was involved in the YTPMV/OTOMAD scene) and Wur as a result.

Though Wur isn't a super popular guy so in that regard he's more approachable. A bit hard to befriend tho.

I kinda hate how nowadays a song's popularity primarily depends on how appealing the music video is. Butcher Vanity being the biggest example i can think of. Not that the song itself is bad but let's be honest, the only reason an engloid song managed to become that popular in the current year is because of the music video. Most engloid producers are still stuck in 2013 and use static images/drawings for their songs.

I'm gonna be murdered for this one but Mimukauwa Nice Try isn't that great. Loli Miku is very cool and i gotta give it props for pissing children and tourists off but the song itself is probably N_u's most boring to date.

>>1004
Nah I liked it and agree, the Zundamon song was way better

>>1004
Agreed. It just feels like it was made to bait people into making animation memes or whatever, their other songs are so much better.

At least it gave us that cute 39neko design.

>It just feels like it was made to bait people into making animation memes
This is the fate of any recent vocaloid song with a music video, look at lagtrain, kyu kurarin, rabbit hole and mesmerizer. I wouldn't say it's a bad thing though, unless the song is sexual because it'll just make kids shit their diapers and act like hyper religious moms. Animation memes have been around since the Flipnote era if not earlier.

>>970
How did you even meet beat? he seems like a really private guy

>>1011
tbf this is a lot of modern vocaloid PVs

>>1155
I am an artist before a website manager (I did the artwork featured on the frontpage as of January 2025) so i have basically looked up to Wur for as long as i can remember, i've also dabbled in NSFW artwork before so that's how we met, and he just so happens to be friends with Beat. Again, lost contact with them both, so contacting them again when they probably don't even remember me is hopeless so i'm not even gonna bother. Also i was already familiar with Beat's work before he was a producer because aside from an artist i was also heavily involved in the OTOMAD scene circa 2015-2018, which Beat also belonged to around that time - you probably recognize him for doing the audio for some of Mowtendoo's videos and i believe he also contributed to Siivagunner around that time although i never really followed that channel so i could be wrong.

I don't like how a lot of modern vocaloid songs feel like they're specifically made to go viral, especially after Mesmerizer. You've got these earworms with animated PVs and dances featuring Miku or Teto (or both) and every time I hear them they just feel so forced.

>>1182
I love the flashy PVs that come with them especially Monitoring, but I am the zoomer that those PVs are baiting so I’m biased w

>>1190
I'm a zoomer myself, never said i didnt like them, just that they feel kinda forced and made to go viral. This was probably a thing before but its especially noticeable post-Mesmerizer.

>>1155
I seriously read this as "How did you beat your meat?" and was confused.

Also the idea of Beat using 39ch is really funny to me. I highly doubt any popular vocaPs use this site really. Barely anyone knows about this place which just adds to its charm. It truly is a safe haven for the vocaboomers.

i hope it doesn't sound bad as i don't mean to offend (it's a question), but i don't know why the current community considers ruko as bigender or intersex. is it because they want to disassociate her status from a fantasy nsfw term?

that is my confession, that i never understood that decision, and excuse my ignorance

>>1532
If you mean futanari then yeah you'd be correct

>>1533

yes, i do mean the sudden change from futanari to intersex/bigender

>>1534
I'm pretty sure it's coz futanari is under the umbrella of intersex, having a peen + vagina makes u intersex unless its thru surgery. even lesser things like having hirsutism can make u be considered intersex

>>1532
>is it because they want to disassociate her status from a fantasy nsfw term?
Yes, along with erasing the VIPPERs’ history entirely.

__hatsune_….jpg - 121.98 KB (850x1093)

my controversial confession: the miku x luka scandal during the pandemic was fabricated to make people ship miku x rin.
although miku x rin is a popular ship, it doesn't have the popularity that miku x luka has.
so, they added the typical anti excuse that "their age gap is too much", so they decided to do what they call gaslighting, so that people would ship miku x rin instead, especially since several people came out saying to ship miku x rin and luka x meiko instead, however in the case of luka x meiko it was not as influential as it was in the case of miku x rin.
after this situation, people calmed down and thought better of this issue, and slowly the miku x luka ship came up again in the west, so i feel like this whole situation was suspicious. i will always remember it as the moment when everyone decided to ship miku x rin.

https://youtube.com/watch?v=wIMhsHlTLso

I *really* like the second demo here (Demo Phrase R), even if others don't. It sounds similar in quality to V4X to me honestly. If people want a realistic Piapro character voicebank, Teto SV already exists. Especially since Teto SV doesn't sound super moe/loli/high-pitched by default which is one of people's main complaints about NT. She even supports English too, what else could you possibly want?

My confession is that i kinda liked Luka SP. It was bad yes but not terrible, she is very much listenable.

And her fans are just like Teto fans they just listen to 2 songs. repeat the same unfunny memes and claim that she is underrated. My opinion might change if she ever get a good voicebank, untill then she still a industry plant that was relevant for 2 years

I love a lot of songs using her but I'm sick to death of TetoSV sounding exactly the same

>>8048
Her timbre is fine, but the default crazy vibrato on every note is busted. One of the main advantages of concatenative engines is that they won’t fuck up the pitch unless they’re told. With SV the purpose of tuning isn’t typically to increase realism, it’s to increase consistency.. opposite of concatenative.

i actually really like ojisan style text, it's been stuck in my head since it released.

I like SV Teto tomboyish and mature voice more then the cute UTAU, Even tho is not as powerful as UTAU the SV give more contrast when paired with other VBs other then that AI VBs are more welcoming to people who are not into vocaloids to get used to it

I really hate how adachi rei is treated like the 4th utau sister, she has no right to even be near any of the others, a complete newcomer(2019) who took years to become relevant(2022 or 23)

941e7fdff7….png - 1326.39 KB (2000x1200)

>>8584
I don't blame them honestly. Rei is the only UTAU in years to get this big. The vipperloids have all been forgotten with exception of Teto who's the go-to voicebank for most producers now thanks to SV. I really wish other UTAU would take off. Tabane Roze had potential. But it really is up to the producers, and they typically don't use UTAU for anything other than covers.

I know its weird to post here as a confession post, but even if it doesn't reflect the current quality of my work whatsoever, I'm extremely nostalgic for it.
