I think it's more so that the bump limit is low (400) and the generals happen to be the most active threads on /leek/ ever since the /jp/ migration happened. Because even with low PPD (right now 39chan is at its lowest PPD in a long time) these threads still manage to hit the bump limit.

>>16400
Also there has been an influx of users the last few weeks before 39chan got temporarily killed. I'm not sure where they came from, but it's likely that they came from /jp/ seeing as how IAbro ended up here as well. I'm guessing that KAFU SV being leaked here brought more people to /leek/ and then these threads started becoming more active.

Producerbros what's the modern equivalent to Vocalistener? Obviously there is SV automatic tuning but I'd rather work with something that can convert my vocals into parameters that work on various vocal-synths.

>>16485
As much as I like the song I always associate with that "dark era" of Vocaloid where everyone thought Vocaloid was dying and every English song sounded like a GHOST knockoff

I think you can just export the file from SV and then use UtaFormatrix. It's what people do, I heard.

>>16499
>she predates AI by almost a decade.
AI itself predates the existence of Vocaloid. You're thinking of generative AI, which is the shiny new toy for balding boomer techbros.

>>16493
I kinda miss that era. A lot of Vocaloid's current problems stemmed by it in terms of community, but it was a lot less boring and a lot of my favorite songs came out then. I'm happy most producers that started then got their own style, even if a lot left.

>>16501
It wasn't too different from the current one tbh. Only difference is there was no SV Teto so you had MikuGumi instead, and GHOST ripoffs instead of Flavor Foley ripoffs.

GhLkOgMbAA….jpg - 23.21 KB (414x316)

Yeah, I was using that term in the mainstream sense. I don't think anyone was talking about AI much back then. Anyway, they just took out the L in Lia to get her name.

>>16482

>>16504
Goodbye Sengen too

>>16502
I feel like finding fans that knew about wholoids was also a lot easier, and people were more willing to use them in the West. I feel like Utsu-P was also at his peak, among other producers active then. I do NOT miss every comment section of a Western producer turning into a GHOST in-joke though.

p27945_p_v….jpg - 288.88 KB (960x1440)

>>16503
It wasn't common to talk about it but that's because the AI that did exist then is not the same AI we talk about today. The concept of robots that will do things for us has been around for decades atp though. Picrel is a movie from 2001.

I do think they chose IA as a nod to Artificial Intelligence + Lia's name. Though isn't she canonically an alien?.

>>16508
Wholoids are still popular among the EN fans and producers still use them from time to time even if Teto is the cool new thing now. But yes most newgens won't explore beyond the cryptonloids, it has always been like that.

>>16509
The AI of today did exist but as a science fiction concept
There were things like GAN for image gen and Cleverbot for text gen but it was really primitive and no one used them

>>16540
Same, but the difference between mid-20s people and teenagers couldn't be bigger. Even the early zoomers who use tiktok were raised on long-form video and whole novels.. I'm getting off topic though, point I'm trying to make is that short-form video has changed culture a lot just in the past 5 years and I don't blame IA's team for trying to conform.

>>16541
Still kinda dumb imo. When I think of a 30 second song I think of something like a radio jingle not something with this level of production.

I was today years old when I learned about Yukkuri Chabangeki, a series of videos about Touhou and their yukkuris and for some reason IA often appears in them due to some in joke. A famous uploader has IA as his avatar so she's something like a self insert for the uploader based on what I can find.
Just searching ゆっくり茶番劇 on Google will give you some IAs in the results.
Apparently there's some copyright drama around it, but I don't know the details. There's hardly any information about the series in English.
It's baffling and amusing to see IA in a completely unrelated area. Seems like the community is aware of who IA is for the most part too. I don't know if they actually listen to vocaloid though.

I like how he has two Haku figures. Linkin Park actually have their own nendoroid figures so maybe Haku owns them in her rented desolate apartment or something

>>17244
I feel like almost everyone if not everyone is aware of Vocaloid in Japan even if they don't listen to it.

As much as i like the recent remix of Melt, i keep coming back to this version. I can't tell what it is but there's something special about it that makes me miss being a kid.

>>17248
I think it's because the remix uses Vocalochanger so they had to lower the pitch of the song so the reference singer could hit the notes. Also the piano solo in the original is just better.

>>17243
Neru, Sakine and two Hakus
Safe to say he's a fan of the fanloids

I would assume that Miku over there is a phenomenon like Spiderman where even if you've never consumed anything related to Spiderman you still know the character.

Was a bit surprised when i found out that he was a producer

>>17265
I prefer her V3 design
Its too iconic at this point

>>16850
I'm surprised no one has ever thought of using her for shoegaze

>>16409
Not everyone is, but some charts i've seen on Kissu do point out that the board's losing activity. If i had to guess most of the anons from /jp/ went to Kissu. The Vocagen anons are lucky that 39chan exists so they have a place to discuss their niche but people from the other generals are not as lucky so I'm not sure where they went if they've left the site.

>>17269
I knew him before that song too, lol

Now i'm really curious how this ended up pissing off the entirety of China. I expected westerners to be the ones to make fuss about it on Twitter. But it turns out it ended up angering the Chinese?.

Look bro I have nothing against the producer (LOL) but I really hate how easy it is to bait this fandom. You can just make a song about Yuki singing about dick and in one day everybody will be talking about it because bad publicity is still publicity. THAT song was clearly made to generate controversy and it worked, so now it has 103,413 views.
There are so many other great producers out there struggling to get even 300 views.

>>17341
I honestly can't even blame LOL. He knew what he was doing and everything went as he planned. Vocaloid fans are really just that predictable.

>>17342
>>17341
The songs not even good or even somewhat catchy like mimukauwa or zako. Goldfish are smarter than vocatwt fans I swear. Bit of a shame seeing that china has these sorts of people though, but its inevitable given that there's an unironic billion of em

>>17343
It really feels like modern Vocaloid fans (not just Vocatwt) are the textbook definition of hate-watchers. I don't understand why they don't put the same amount of effort into blowing up songs they actually like, but that's assuming they even look for anything beyond what's currently popular with the Youtube algorithm. I guess that's why i like /rvr/ threads so much, there's always new, interesting stuff there and it's curated by people instead of machines.

>>17341
In theory, this is why the TOS exists... Most Vocaloid companies have the ability to DMCA you if you give their products too much bad publicity. Who knows if that will actually happen though.

>>17345
As far as I know the song doesn't break TOS but even if it did, when was the last time a song was taken down due to TOS?

>>17346
Dunno for sure since that usually happens in Japan. There was some song mocking Shinzo Abe's death a few years ago that got mass reported.
The TOS can apply to any sort of bad publicity, though. Like the time Crypton (seemingly) warned Akihiko Kondo over Twitter discourse.

>>17347
I wonder if that's why that one Oliver song, "Gay Sex", was taken down a few years ago. Or maybe people just mass reported it on Youtube.

Now that Zaako is a year old it’s insane in hindsight how that song out of all things was the catalyst. It was so tame but the word “hentai” set off so many people

>>17354
Zaako worsened the situation but imo it started with Rabbit Hole

>>17355
I mean more as in sexual content. The way people talked about it you think it would’ve been the most degenerate shit ever but it’s just a Nagatoro-styled song.

>>17355
I'll never forget the jp vocatwt post that was like "going from old deco songs to this is like watching someone dick down your high school sweetheart"

>>17358
I think that stems from various factors such as Channel being the animator of ZAKO and having previously animated a suggestive MV (Bouncy animation = Sexual), foreigners not understanding the "mesugaki" archetype too well and thinking it's inherently sexual, the bed creaking sample (which he has used before but people are hearing it in a different context here), the use of Kaai Yuki, etc. It was not meant as a creepy/disgusting/shock song but people are quick to overreact.

>>17360
also the "fish penis"

>>17300
Meh, i didn't even listen to it. I don't like songs that are made to bait people into giving it views. Getting popular off of controversial songs is a double edged sword because while you get popular people will always remember you as "the guy who made that song".

>>17341
I feel like the community itself also doesn't do much to promote small producers. There's some rare instances where some big western producer will say they liked a song from a small producer and it might get a bit of traction but again, it's rare.

>>17363
These days it feels like it's harder for human recommendations to matter in the first place, now that everyone relies on algorithms

>>17366
VocaDB and /rvr/ exist

>>17355
I could agree with this. That channel animation really changed the game. Even paved the way for the Mesmerizer era… I’m not a huge fan, but I find it hard to hate just since jt got so many people engaged.

There's many reasons small producers don't gain traction, but from what I've seen it's typically either not appealing to the algorithm (using a wholoid, still image with text, etc), or the producer got blackballed before they got their foot in the door. Western producers in particular talk a lot about who does what, especially in private.
>>17539
I love doing this. I see a low view song and usually get the urge to check it out, especially if it's not SynthV.

>>17550
I'm a producer who's friends with a couple western producers (albeit smaller ones). I'd say i'm way too irrelevant for big producers to even know my name, let alone be gossiped about. I could only really see the fact that i use this site being used against me, but even that is a stretch considering it's a lot tamer than vocatwt (slurs are banned lol) and people like Smith Hioka use it.

Unless you've done something controversial like what LOL did recently, I highly doubt the WVF will want your head on a stick. Don't scare the newbies.

>>17551
I'm speaking from experience, but I can also say the big producers forgave me awhile ago (not many of the other small ones from 2018-2022 though). I can't say the same for many others, but generally as long as you aren't openly professing to have controversial opinions or working with people who have a negative rep you're usually good. There's a bit of a stalking problem, though, often between small producers or a small producer towards a bigger producer. And its often kept under wraps until someone has a personal experience.

>>17557
I recall it being like that in the early to mid 2010s but i assumed things had changed huh

>>17558
Unfortunately, stalking and grudges do very much still happen, often to a more extreme extent than they used to, even though incidents are definitely rarer and most people probably don't have to worry if they keep to themselves.

Mayubro here. I honestly just see myself as a guy who makes music. I'm not chasing fame or success. I just make the kind of music i feel like this space lacks, and therefore, I end up making the type of music I would like to listen to. If i end up befriending some talented producers that's cool. If not it's not the end of the world. I've always kept my personal stuff and my producer stuff completely separate, because at the end of the day, as a producer I don't want to be seen as more than that: just a guy who makes music.

Also in case you're wondering i'm not a big producer myself.

>>17560
Basically what i'm trying to say here is that i'm fine being a complete nobody

>>17560
Historically speaking that's the absolute best way to go about it. Producers whose primary focus is fame tend to burn out hard and quit once the frustration hits its peak. Producers who don't separate their identity will often eventually get pushback even if harmless OR will get parasocial fans much faster than they would otherwise. That said, I don't think it's necessary to separate the two if the risks are understood. I'm looking forward to hearing what you make if you post it here!

I find it mildly amusing how a lot of people here seem to have connections with the "big producers".

>>17572
People over 18 are the elites of the vocaloid world

>>17574

Team 6x111 is very aware of my existence, though to my knowledge none are upset with me anymore

>>17572
It's not that surprising honestly. People tend to take advantage of the anonimity of IBs to talk about shit they normally wouldn't like whoever leaked KAFU SV here. There was an anon here who allegedly worked at Vocatone or at least had ties to them but you can't really prove that stuff so easily so some things you gotta take with a grain of salt.

>>17572
My dad works at Crypton. Luka V6 soon.

>>17558
As someone who’s had experienced the worst Vocatwt has to offer, I can verify what >>17557 >>17559 are saying. It’s a huge problem that even if you call it to attention, people are fsr more likely to side with the people giving you problems. I still experience stalking and harassment to this day, despite my own experiences going on for years and having not only addressed things multiple times but also changing.

It is extremely discouraging. I can only really hope for newer producers it gets better. I won’t air all my laundry here, I don’t think y’all need a trauma dump. What I will say is even if you run into these problems, if you keep going and push forward you will still get through. But maybe only use Twitter for promotion purposes for your own sanity lol

>>17599
We've had the same experience, then. I have one very dedicated stalker right now because I said that I liked their work. Their response was to falsely accuse me of several things, some far more severe than others, while harassing one of my friends even worse than me. They never said my name publicly despite the vaguepost so I'm gonna take a risk and not address it unless they make a Google Doc or something like they did to two of the biggest Western producers. I'm not sure if saying who I am is a good idea, but I will say I'm a Mikibro whose reputation proceeds me. I did a lot of stupid shit as a teenager, however I've long since mellowed out. 39chan is sort of like a safe haven free from drama and people who want nothing more than to drag people they dislike down. Is it too early to call Heat Abnormal a classic?

>>17631
You're allowed to call it one in 2032

>>17631
>released October 8, 2022
UTAU sounds old, SynthV sounds new. Heat Abnormal feels older than it actually is for that reason, or at least it does to me. Call it an instant classic I guess.

>>17675
It's not that it sounds old. It's a great song lyrically, musically and I feel like it has aged incredibly well compared to a lot of songs from that period. It's the closest thing to a modern "Meltdown", except I like Meltdown a lot better.

>>17675
It's hard for me to associate Rei with "old" just for the fact that she came out like 5 years ago and is extremely popular now

>>17676
>>17678
Oh I'm not disputing its quality, Heat Abnormal is an amazing song. The word I should have said is "timeless"; for a piece of art to still be culturally relevant outside of the context in which it was made is to be a classic; classics are by definition out of their original time. Adachi Rei is relatively new as far as vocal-synths go, but because of how her voice samples were created via additive synthesis, a very old technology when compared to generative AI, she feels out of time, like she's always been there somehow, waiting to be discovered. What I'm trying to say here is that I strongly believe that there are subjective qualities other than "old" and "good" that constitute something being feeling like a classic, and that timelessness is one of them.

>>17599
Twitter is useless for anything else

>>17786
It's alright for news

>>17787
I'd argue it's good for following jp and kr artists too, I just wanna see pretty art on my timeline and twt does that for me, its a pain to manage the algo tho

>>17788
I use it almost exclusively for Voca synth news, following artists and following new releases. That being said though, you'll always be fighting with the algorithm.

>>17608
WVF scares me sometimes honestly. I've seen so much P-bashing there. And if someone decides that you suck, everybody suddenly thinks that you suck.

>>17813

>>17818

>>17631
SHINDA HENSUU DE KURIKAESU

>>17813
People will also hold onto things you did many years ago even if the difference is night and day between who you were then and who you are now, and a lot of producers in the community are very two-faced. Popularity isn't a 'judge' on who's moral or not, but I notice that problem is far worse in the WVF among smaller producers. They're more likely to shittalk and actively try to drag down other small producers because they said the wrong thing 5 years ago or made a song that the other party hates. I refuse to set foot in most WVF spaces because the chance of me accidentally causing a problem just by being present makes me very uncomfortable. I've heard my stalker infiltrated a space I was very interested in joining so I'm giving it a wide berth, for example. Another thing I hate is that if you have a negative reputation, no matter why, people will refuse to give you any advice on improving your craft ever. I got advice for the first time in years in 2023, when I've been using Vocaloid since 2016. If they're even suspected of speaking to you, they can be attacked for it and avoided by association, and I don't think that's right.
It's been years since I've actively engaged with the Japanese community, but it was far calmer and the people in it were much nicer. I refuse to make a Twitter again or I'd engage either exclusively or mostly with them.

I think people will listen to anything that has Teto's name attached to it regardless of the quality because the Youtube algo pushes her hard. I'm a producer too and I've made a couple Teto songs that weren't exactly amazing yet they did incredibly well compared to everything else I've made.

>>17887
I might make the song I'm working on use Teto but the two bigger spots aren't gonna be her, I think Teto actually fits the song but forcing new fans to hear other Vocaloids is also nice. It's a trio, don't know what I'll do for the deep male vocal but probably either Liam, Big Al, or Kevin. The other vocal is Nekomura Iroha.
...Then the next song in the series I have more or less done asides from the PV will use Miki, Lily, and probably Yohioloid. Lily gets a super small part though just because I couldn't find a way to make her more prevalent.

>>17897
Big AL, he's great but barely relevant these days

>>17898
I think that'll work out since I plan to already use SV1 for Teto in order to manually tune, therefore meaning I'll be rendering in 3 separate programs which I think is really cool when people do that. I also found an old spreadsheet I made for a bunch of my characters 5 years ago and I explicitly put that I saw that one as Big Al, so I'm pretty excited to get the ball rolling on it.

>>17894
Not that I dislike Teto being popular (though not to this degree where there is too many outsiders starting to try to steamroll and astroturf the community) but YouTube's algorithm pisses me off. If you look at related videos for some Vocaloid or AMVs or visual artists (especially animators) or Vtubers etc and so on related stuff you get all this dumb outrage culture garbage in recommended videos because the algorithm is all about making people respond and stay on long as possible and arguing online is one of the best ways to do that so this is why the algorithm has a tendency to this and why it sometimes gets all sorts of videos taken down because it tries to draw in the people who watch them then report them instead of just downvoting it or saying to not recommend the channel.

What would it take to get more cyber-persecuted interest communities and personalities to move to Odysee or make a PeerTube instance with a bunch of different interests but some likmindedness so it wont suck like all other instances that go unused from so little videos on them. Either case to get away from the antifun trend that YouTube, X/Twitter and TikTok algorithms created so there can be more creative freedom? Niconico and Bilibili both seem to have low video resolution so they're not that great of choices unless that is just some technical issue I have.

Okay sorry, little rant over. I hope I made sense. I have not slept much.

>>16500
>AI itself predates the existence of Vocaloid. You're thinking of generative AI, which is the shiny new toy for balding boomer techbros.
Ironically it's not AI either. It's actually machine learning. AI is just the marketing term used.

>>17682
>additive synthesis
I didn't know it had a name for that. I'd have to look into it more since I didn't fully understand every step that was used to make Rei's voice when I had watched Missile39's video on the process.

>>16523
>what a shitty marketing stunt honestly. what's the point of edging us with these 30 second previews.
Previews especially using shorts are used to game the algorithm by having frequent uploads and views among other reasons it helps.

Damn i hate youtube shorts

Synthv autotuning is EVIL

>>17947
But someone can always go against the auto tuning selectively couldn't they? I havent gotten to using it so im not sure what it's like.

It's meh

Cute school friends singing together, but where is the full version?

>>17974
Wait for vocacolle (3-4 days)

>>17972
oh they premiered this at tetosonic of all places?

>>17976
Tsui ni hajimarimashita
VOCACOLLE desu!!

Candle Queen got removed off Youtube for whatever reason

>>18024
Didn't Ghost return a few days ago? Wtf

>>18025
Yeah, likely not a coincidence

>>18024
GHOST chose to delete it. I'm gonna take a wild guess and say they were having a personal moment again. This is not new behavior for them and is usually the result of them being distressed about something.

It's already archived anyway

>>18024
Not surprising sadly

>>18024
I mean... it is a GHOST song after all

Why do people delete their own songs anyway?

>>18065
They hate it, too personal, they were pressured or forced to by someone else or they don't like the attention.

>>18065
The primary reason is usually harassment or disliking it but the former seems more common. I think Candle Queen was deleted because Ghost and Lauren hate each other now.

Anybody got this new teto album in flac? I can't find it on soulseek

https://youtube.com/watch?v=K_t6yq6D6xc

Speaking of Western producers deleting their songs, does anyone else remember WILDFIRE!! by Circrush? Extremely good song and I’m sad it got deleted

>>18251
Circrush was godlike, i miss that duo but i understand why they broke up. I wonder if they're still on bad terms to this day.

>>18251
I remember discovering FOOLISH in the recommended under that song when watching YouTube back in the day. Kinda funny looking back.

>>18251
I miss the duo but now that both of them are retired it hurts even more

>>18258
Only Circus is retired. Crusher still makes music but mostly uses her real vocals now instead of Vocaloid.

>>18251
This song is in my top 5 of all time for sure

>>18308
Me again, just remembered
>>18251
The song also got a very brief shoutout in Better Off Worse just a few years ago so CircusP still acknowledges it atleast

Have the decency to sage if you're gonna post in this thread. Also crossies are a cancer.

>>18805
Holy shit that thread is abysmal. /jp/ cross-boarders must be using like a million filters, I don't know how else you can stomach reading that garbage. You're a braver Mikudayo than I.

>>18823
Every time i go there I'm thankful for this site because dear fucking god, every thread since 2024 has been constant dramafagging and discussion of literally anything but Vocaloid. Kissubros were right.

>>18825
Shit, forgot to sage

Just don't get baited. I never filter anything.

I worry about your mental state. Even just reading that stuff cannot be good for you long-term. Just take care of yourself.

>>18840
Not that anon but I'm not gonna leave 4chan until it shuts down. The /jp/ threads are indeed unreadable though. But i just stopped using that board.

>>18840
It's ok, I'll be that one rambling old man in your neighborhood.

To Anons/Mikudayos complaining about the /jp/ thread: when was the last time you posted something effortful there?
If you think there are no good posts there, it implies you also don't post anything good there.

>>18846
The last time I effortposted was before the hack last April. Since then I’ve been posting here instead. It’s much better and I rarely go back.
Either way, in the absence of moderation, an increase in non-shit posts won’t fix a shit thread.

>>18846
Why would complaining about how bad the thread on /jp/ is mean that I have a responsibility to fix it? I'd rather just post here.

>>18846
Let's fix /jp/ together!

>>18846
I try to post music whenever i find something interesting but it gets flooded with /pol/shit immediately. If I'm in a Vocaloid thread I'm there to talk about the music and the characters not if (insert producer here) takes it up the ass.

>>18846
I have not been on /jp/ since the Tetofag incident last year. The vocaloid threads were good a couple years ago but after 2024 every new thread devolves into: A) people falling for obvious bait, B) anons shitting on popular producers/songs, C) anons discussing what's between (insert western producer)'s legs or D) all of them, instead of actually talking about the music.

/a/ is okayish, and I still a few altchans like Wap.

>>18846
I'm not a /jp/ user
