This is a cover of Nine Inch Nails but still worth sharing. I wish ASTROPHYSICS became a Vocaloid producer, he has insane potential and could be one of the first Vocaloid synthpop/industrial producers in god knows how long but it seems like Vocaloid is just a side thing for him and i respect that.

I was a Miu Sakamoto fan before i knew about MEW so i find it funny she had a voicebank at some point. Still does, i dont think she's discontinued, but from what i've seen no one uses it.

Again, it's an english cover of Meltdown with Sonika.

>>2252
Please make an original song i'm begging you this is one of the few sonika songs i've heard where the tuning doesn't suck and original songs are the one thing sonika lacks.

oyasumeat pls.
save sonik.

>>2252
I wanna make an original some day but i'm a bit messy when it comes to structuring songs. Usually i come up with a cool sounding melody for the verses but can't think of anything for the choruses, and when it comes to writing lyrics i am a complete disaster (ESL). This kills my motivation every time and i don't know how to get better. But i'll find a way, for SONiKA.

>>13953
To be fair the Vocaloid general on /jp/ is about as slow as this site but I'm only saying this because it's the only thread on that site I actively check, I stopped caring for the rest of /jp/.

>>13957
The /jp/ thread is slower

>>13958
Is it? I thought both 39chan and the /jp/ were equally slow. Every time I check the jay there's about 5-10 new posts and it's the same here.

>>13959
the /jp/ thread*

>>13959
the /jp/ thread started 4 days ago and currently has 117 replies. /leek/ has had 119 posts on monday alone

>>13961
>>13959
Anons, I meant the latency. Sometimes it takes ages to load stuff for me. Right now the connection is good though.

>>13961
Don't want to derail this thread but the reason 39chan is faster and gets 100+ posts per day is because topics are divided into multiple threads here. That's why the general seems so inactive compared to /jp/'s, it's because the other threads are getting more posts.

>>13963

I notice I tend to prefer covers where they recreate the instrumentation instead of using the original. I love how Astrophysics changed the lyrics so that instead of the song being sung by someone pining for the model, the song is sung from the model's perspective; it works really well for Miku. I think the music video is also a visual pun; the song is about a human model for commercial products, but in the video, Miku is depicted as a 3D model.

>I wish ASTROPHYSICS became a Vocaloid producer, he has insane potential and could be one of the first Vocaloid synthpop/industrial producers in god knows how long but it seems like Vocaloid is just a side thing for him and i respect that.
I think he would start making more original stuff with loids if he knew more producers and voicebanks that would fit his style he has for his original work while not being better done by a human voice and maybe if he was aware a lot of producers do human vocals too so it wouldn't get him pressured to make just that.

While i do like his covers I am not sure why he hasnt done more original stuff with any VB

I might be out of step with the broader community, but I actually prefer covers to originals. I think there's a ton of untapped potential in taking music that we already know is good and adapting it to suit the unique qualities of vocalsynths. I'm far less interested in covers of songs where the original was already by another voicebank, or where the original instrumental is used. Not to cast shade, but I find embedded far more interesting than something like this:

https://youtube.com/watch?v=K9fQ2jRT6oE [Embed]

>>19810
To me it is more a novelty since it is difficult to fully take in a cover unless you heard the cover before or very close to the original or if you arent a fan of the original version. I get what you mean though. Now makes me wonder what a cover of Paranoid Android would sound like with TT as main vocals and Rei as the spoken lines with some musical changes.

>To me, covers of human originals are more of a novelty since it is difficult to fully take in a cover, unless you've heard the original before, or something very close to the original, or if you aren't a fan of the original version. [edited for clarity]
I disagree, I've enjoyed covers of songs that I'd never heard the originals to. I then went and listened to the original version to gain a better appreciation of the cover. One of the reasons that I hold Ctrl Ult Delete/Beau Jordan in such high esteem is the ways in which he messed with the genre of the songs he covered by changing the instrumentation. Embedded was originally a rock song:

>>19828
Yes some covers when it is a quite different rendition can be very good but dont get to see that too often from many it seems and my music tastes shift around a lot time to time.

This is the only vocal-synth original that I know of that is not on Astrophysics' YouTube channel:

Yeah I do wish more cover artists would recreate the instrumental. In the past, people would cover songs with Miku, often as a joke, and most of those were not very good. Nowadays people use SynthV Teto more sincerely, which tends to be a lot more listenable, but despite that, I still prefer Miku.

No idea. Their last activity that I know of is this YouTube post. Hopefully they're alright wherever they are.

I've been listening to this cover album. I don't have strong feelings about Yellow Magic Orchestra, but I love Miku, and I like the faster tempos and more modern production, so I mostly prefer this to the originals. The only questionable change that I can think of was removing the spoken word vocals from 中国女 (La Femme Chinoise), but that was probably because they were in French.

>>23596
As much as I love Rei and NIN I am not sure Closer was the best choice for her voice how it was used. I would have increased the tempo and made her pitchier if I was doing it.

I think her voice works well with industrial music

Doesn't sound bad. Just needs to be more whispery.

>>25346
v6 is pretty limiting tbh

>>25347
>>25352
I couldn't get a good balance with the air parameter. Difference between 99 to 100 (max) is insane. 100 sounds nice but it is way too whispery, so I just used it for some parts. 99 however, sounds insanely distorted and still doesn't feel whispery enough, so in the end I just dropped it down a notch to a level where I feel like the distortion isn't too noticeable. I'm sure the pitch bends matter more, but I'm too unskilled for that lol.
