are white haired and gray haired voicebanks DOOMED? Mikudayo Wed, Jul 2, 2025, 07:21 PM No.7120

VOCALOID
>piko: dead
>yanhe: made out of a hurry, weirdest creation story
>maika: so good she never received an update and she's dead
>gekiyaku: her UTAU voicebank is better
>lorra: cancelled since years ago

VoiSona:
>tamaki: hated by westerners

Synthesizer V:
>eleanor: might be dead, we don't know if she's alive

OTHERS
>alter/ego's daisy: dead
>alter/ego's NATA: shortly discontinued due to legal reasons, very dead
>VOICEVOX's WHITECUL: decently popular character in japan, has a troubled V6 development (her funds got stolen)

the rest of white/gray haired 'loids are plain out forgotten and wholoids are a normal occurrence.

flower and KAFU escaped the curse, and kizuna akari too (her TTS voicebanks are highly popular in japan).
are white/gray haired 'loids destined to fail?

Mikudayo Wed, Jul 2, 2025, 07:23 PM No.7121

KAFU had her 15 minutes of fame at least

I feel like most of them are explainable, like Piko's company expecting easy cash and abandoning him because he wasn't Miku. Unfortunate, but not unexpected. Gekiyaku and Piko are probably the most gut-punchy ones on here for me.

How is his oto broken???? I’ve made a cover with him and it worked fine

The default resampler (and i think a couple others) crash when rendering stuff with him and Tunelab doesn't even recognize his oto.ini when you load him.

>>7162
oh shit, that is really broken. sorry anon, i'll have to see if i can fix that at all.

(it's also a shame that's a trend because white hair is the sexiest thing ever)

Out of all of Voctro Labs' voicebanks she's the one that isn't discontinued yet (unless that has changed recently and i'm not aware). What sucks is the complete lack of content there is with her as a result of her being Spanish.

Mikudayo Fri, Jul 4, 2025, 08:56 PM No.7200

>>7196
The funny thing about Maika is that since Spanish and Japanese are similar you can make her sing in nearly perfect Japanese but I'm not sure why no one has done that before

Mikudayo Fri, Jul 4, 2025, 11:27 PM No.7206

>>7196
>>7200
it's not like she doesn't have a najillion phonemes to facilitate her singing in many languages... as i've seen people make her plenty of times...

>flower and KAFU escaped the curse
Uiroid too technically, she has a #1 song right now if you check Vocaloard. I'd be really disappointed if she became an one hit wonder.

Mikudayo Tue, Jul 8, 2025, 06:59 PM No.7406

Did Piko actually flop or is it a myth? So many people seem to want to get their hands on him after he got discontinued

Mikudayo Tue, Jul 8, 2025, 07:06 PM No.7408

>>7406
No it was because the voicebank sold out and they had no plans for an update

Mikudayo Tue, Jul 8, 2025, 08:11 PM No.7411

>>7406
Piko was definitely a bottom tier Japanese V2, I'd guess second worst selling (since gachapoid exists). He got a huge bump from the memesquad thing but I think Sony had already given up on him by then.

Mikudayo Tue, Jul 8, 2025, 08:12 PM No.7412

>>7411
Of course Gachapoid is the worst selling loid

Mikudayo Tue, Jul 8, 2025, 08:22 PM No.7416

I had the idea that Piko was as popular as Gakupo, especially considering he's voiced by none other than the utaite Piko and his design feels like it was made to appeal to the fujos.

I wouldn't say Luka is doing so badly. All cryptonloids except Meiko seem to be doing well, the algorithm just happens to favor Miku and Teto instead. I'd be willing to bet that they're doing better on sites like NicoNicoDouga and BiliBili than Youtube.
