If you already have a V6 it is actually possible to get V7 for free lol. They dont like V6 at all.

More than just the vocoder, there's additional features from VXB, especially the research version, that carried over. There's a new attack slider and singing styles now operates more like how they did in the VXB research version AKA more similar to SynthV's Vocal modes.

Will upgrading even improve older banks? I am hoping at least the AI banks get some improvement universally. Otherwise, there's almost no reason to upgrade besides getting it to work with new V7 banks.
