Yes. You just need a piapro account. It's similar to the Snow Miku design contests, except music instead of design work. I've joined a couple of times myself. IIRC Snow Miku 2023 was overseas for reference. The main thing is that the entries are significantly higher compared to Miku Expo contests, so seeing anyone not from Japan place is very rare.

From what I know the only reason they haven't been updated is because they're just a low priority project for the company because even Miriam's voice provider has expressed interest in a new voicebank. They have very slowly been discontinuing some of their older products, but most of their products have newer versions, even if it’s not solely their character. Vocal synth wise the only one discontinued so far is Iroha V2, and either Miki or Yuki V2 might be the next but all of their V2’s have had updates at some point. Won’t go fully in-depth on what might go and stuff but main point is, if there is a product discontinuing it’ll at least have a new version or successor available. Unless it’s voiced by a child, it’ll be around for a long time.

I had seen that and I am actually pretty worried since I have been anticipating something like this. I had been hearing a lot about YouTube's AI moderation demonetizing animators falsely claiming their content is for children when it isn't and I had been thinking maybe it might hit the entire vocaloid community from all the animated videls. This is first case I heard of a messed up identifier though. It really is surprising ngl, I don't remember a gacha finishing their story unless they get forced to do so because of shutting down. I have no idea how it works but it feels a bit like a gamble since it seems like people got invested to these characters a lot and ending the story might make people leave but I guess it'sa calculated risk since they are doing this in their own terms. While a return to project diva would be nice there is no way SEGA is abandoning their most succesfull mobile game and cash cow just because they concluded the main story. Even if this game shuts down they would probably make another gacha as that's where the money is, high budget rhythm games have been dead for a while now. I think the most mainstream-big studio rhythm game we got in a while was Rhythm Heaven and that sold 1 million copies. I can't really predict how a new diva game would sell but I'm certain SEGA would price it at $70 because of their greed and later on blame the market for it performing under their expectations.

I mean, it’ll be like 8 years of runtime until the conclusion of the story, right? And that’s not counting the planned bonus stuff. It’s a longer run than I expected for this kind of game, honestly.

So this is a bit weird but apparently this guy named Kaito Takahashi (he might be popular within JP I just dont know him) who was part of a group decided to go solo now but the thing is he literally changed his artist title to "KAITO" from his full name so it's been causing quite a bit of discussions on JP twitter as there is already a KAITO within same industry and they are just using the same name without any changes like maybe using lower case or replacing a with @ etc.

I wasn't following it for a bit but looks like things got worse. a niconico based producer said they made their songs private because some fans were acting too unhinged for him. ngl there is a good chance some people just started trolling but I don't get privating your songs, this whole thing isn't even related to producers so why punish everyone else for some people going a bit too far? Weirdest thing I saw was Kaito fans in other countries searching up Kaito on google and uploading photos of which result comes up to show support, there was even a dude from fucking Iraq showing support to blue boy.

I wouldn't say its Takahashi's fault. I doubt he has too much say in how his image or music is marketed, that would be his agency's job.

It should also be noted that while Vocaloid is a very successful music subculture in Japan, it is still very much a subculture. Meaning, that it's very likely Johnny's didn't really research or care whether there would be a search engine clash with a Vocaloid associated with otaku culture. They might have to start tagging our KAITO with #vocaloid kaito or maybe even start using Kaito Shion again. Unless a lot of people have a shitfit over this significant enough to get one of the biggest music industry forces in Japan to reconsider their marketing. But i don't know if theres more otaku in Japan that care about that sort of thing than there are idol stans in Japan. I'd wager probably not.

V6 is pretty high up on the list of suspects I'd say because of all the recent Korean advertising this year. VoxFactory and VoiSona are equally likely. I don't know if ACE Supports Korean but I don't think it's on that list, especially with VoxFactory is more likely, being a competing software from Korea.

The only software I can't say is on the list is SynthV because of the ongoing lawsuit with ST Media. I think SBS would want to avoid that.

I know some folks might not want V6 but I do think in regards to further pushing the market, it might be an ideal case + it would mean Yamaha having to rework the engine again and I really want that new rework if we're getting a few more years of V6. This might make sense to post here instead of the odd synthesizer thread because of what it might be capable of. Some company just built a hardware vocal synthesizer that uses voice samples. The website has no information on it yet so price and release date unknown and I can't be sure if you can import samples beyond what it comes with which if it could be capable of that it would be pretty wild to see what people do with it because if it can have samples imported then that means any sample based voice bank might work on it.
