It's a different engine optimized for CVVC banks. It used to be the most HQ option out of the box, but now everyone's jumped to DiffSinger

Probably name recognition as well. Both of those engines seem to mainly be used by people who are already heavily into UTAU.

Well diffsinger is integrated into openutau itself which also plays a role. I'm surprised no one has made a standalone app for it.

Might be a controversial take but DV sounds so much better than UTAU. UTAU with Hifisampler kicks its ass though.

I've been looking into this and it's interesting how close it sounds to pre-V6 Vocaloid. Apparently you can make English voicebanks too, but i'd imagine it's a pain in the ass.

I've considered moving my vocaloid devkit project to deepvocal, following in the footsteps of ALYS lol. Not 100% though because I heard there's some issues with CC transitions that sometimes come down to just praying. More research to be done.
