I've been wanting to buy some physical vocaloid albums, any suggestions? Preferably stuff that isn't extremely expensive like Unhappy Refrain (which is a godlike album but almost every site sells it for more than 100 dollars). Also general thread for physical stuff. Post vinyls, cds, cassettes, etc.

I can’t show any of my recommendations atm but when it comes to buying secondhand at least, keep an eye out for people selling multiple CDs in one go. I’ve seen a good few go up with a bunch and it usually is cheaper than buying one.

Just curious but is there such thing as a Vocaloid "enhanced CD"?. For those who are unaware an enhanced CD has bonus content when you put it in your PC. Jar of Flies by Alice in Chains (not Vocaloid btw) for example has its own software with interviews, info about the band and some music videos if you put the disc in your PC.

I think that format died around the mid to late 2000's which coincides with the rise of Miku and Vocaloid.

While I like physical media I still take issue with how CDs can scratch seemingly on their own. Technically you can repair them though it is like fixing the scratches on a car headlight you have to resurface the CD which is scary since it means taking sandpaper to it and messing it up even more and moving down to finer grits till you get a smooth glossy surface but not go too deep that you hit the data layer. I heard you have to stroke outward too to avoid going direction disc is read.

I've never had my cds get scratched like that. Whenever they skip its usually due to dust and i can just clean them with water. I'm more scared of cracking the case even slightly, which has happened before, than scratching the actual CD.
