Not big into FF but an Iroha song is an Iroha song and I had to check it out. Its pretty good.

I agree. Honestly, even though in a pragmatic sense I was supposed to be the target audience for Ego Renegade Boy, I think streetcat ended up being the more resonant and emotionally powerful song and just ended up being a lot more viscerally relatable. Probably mostly because it's not as gimmick focused

Nothing against the producers involved but i don't really get the appeal of Flavor Foley outside of the voicebank gimmick

I don't either. I used to be a big THaB fan though, so I think a big part of the issue I have is that the genre(s) of music they go for really, REALLY aren't for me rather than a lack of talent. I can't think of a single song Jamie Page has made on her own that I enjoy. She clearly has talent, but her work isn't my thing, and as a result that bleeds into Flavor Foley and I find most of the songs "just fine" at best aside from a couple examples.

I like most of their songs a lot, but i will admit i prefer their older songs in general. I do have this thing where they will release a new song and i'll listen to it once and think it's not so great, then i'll notice that it actually stays on my mind, like an earworm. I actually tend to listen to it a lot a few days after. I didn't think Ego Renegade Boy was that great though, but i like streetcat a lot.

That being said i can see why it's not everyone's cup of tea. The themes, presentation and melody is all very newgen imo. If you're an older fan, it's probably quite different than what you're used to and what got you into Vocaloid initially. I didn't get into Vocaloid listening to this kind of stuff, but i still find it to be enjoyable though.

They are also some of the most popular western producers, so they're important to the western scene, which i think is good. It's nice to see stuff moving in the west.

That kind of is the main appeal of their music for me tbh and I'm fine with that. I like seeing FF songs like a really elaborate music demo project in a sense, it's just nice to know theres a music group who will always be there to make high production value English songs of lesser utilized voicebanks. It's easy to be enthusiastic enough about that on it's on merits when you're a niche voicebank autist

To give them credit they did it with Yi Xi but I do wish they were able to pull it off again. I was a bit disappointed that their two other most popular songs just ended up being Miku and Teto respectively even if it's to be expected

Even if I only like a couple FF songs, I am genuinely excited to see which vocal they choose and if it is Chis-A I'm going to be very happy because it's a new software to the group. I disliked the mixing (but to be honest, a lot of Flavor Foley songs have rough sounding mixing) and thought the melody was a bit too upbeat for my tastes, but I'm not exactly their target audience considering a lot of my favorite producers are known for rock and metalcore. I adored the PV and tuning though.

I am excited for the new album. Though it’s definitely a bit of a mix for me minus the new reprises.

On the FLAVOR FOLEY website, looks like there's 3 new Roundtable Reprise songs being teased for the album release. Seems like it'll be mostly male loids? Top one could be ANRI though

Personally, I loathed the tuning on Spoken For the most, simply because it sounded mostly untuned. I get that's the point but I've never liked Jamie Page's use of Teto so sadly that was an uphill battle from the start.

I always found like me disliking the majority of Flavor Foley's discography made me an extreme minority. The only ones I like are Butcher Vanity, Static, Weiward Romance, and Ego Renegade Boy, and of those as much as I loved ERB I got over it pretty fast beyond feeling seen because every other song about the same subject I know of was either transfem-based or was offputting to me (in my personal opinion as a trans guy, I don't mind people who like other songs about it at all especially if they feel like they can relate to it!), and with Weiward Romance it's not something I'd really go out of my way to listen to. Only Butcher Vanity and Static are ones I've looped for a super long time because I love them. Spoken For isn't the absolute worst to me because I still feel a bigger distaste for Streetcat, but there's certain elements I actually really like about Spoken For such as its PV and the general theming of it. I think my big gripe is I don't like how Teto is tuned and the more generic instrumental meant to sound easy to listen to. Considering I'm an avid listener of Western Vocaloid and have been since at least 2014, I think I just prefer my songs to sound chaotic to the point of almost making my ears bleed. Which is probably why I love Butcher Vanity and Static. They're nowhere near the level of dickswordance I'm used to, but Flavor Foley took advantage of the more chaotic elements and made the song flow with them.

I wonder if they'll do that "one voicebank per song" gimmick again for the next album. I admit i really like it.
