It's Tianyi's world and we're just living in it
>>
Japan has Miku. China has Tianyi. Korea has SeeU. What do we have??.
>>
>>17957
Sonika silly
>>
>>17959
Sonika was meant to be that but CircusP was the only person who cared about her
>>
>>17959
I don't think that's the case sadly. Oliver was more popular, although not enough for him to be seen as the face of EN vocaloids.
>>
>>17957
Korea also has UNI
>>
>>17964
Closest one I can think of would probably be be Solaria even though she’s SynthV
>>
>>17957
and Spanishbros have Maika
>>
>>17968
I feel like Maika was more popular among the English community as weird as that sounds. They used her more than the Spanish.
>>
I don't think the EN community has a defining Vocaloid at all. Sonika was marketed as such but failed miserably and ZG gave up after V4's cancellation. Oliver was certainly popular with the fujos but by the early 2020's half of the community had forgotten about him (although Maghni AI could change this). The Synth Vs are all wholoids even if they have one or two popular songs, not to mention their designs which don't typically appeal to the average Vocaloid weeb.
>>
>>18001
There was also Fukase but he looks like he was designed in a lab to appeal to the Tumblr Danganronpa fans of that era, even back then people mocked his design. Also, his terms and conditions.
>>
>>18001
I'm shocked there aren't more vocaloids marketed to fujos given the success of relatively mid voicebanks like Oliver and Fukase.
>>
>>18003
The type of fujo those characters were made for kinda doesn't exist anymore
>>
>>18004
This pretty much. The only characters I see being marketed to fujos these days are from Audiologie.
>>
Fukase was made for the Tumblr fujos and Oliver was literally based on Ciel Phantomhive so you can guess the type of fan he was made for.
>>
>>18007
he was made for me

Your fortune: Outlook good
>>
"Tianyi is my wife" -Some group of Chinese men
>>
>>17957
English Teto, lmao
>>
>>18045
She's just a Japanese voicebank that has English support but yeah i guess SV Teto sort of is the closest thing we have to that
>>
>>18045
>>18055
GUMI was the go to for English before Teto SV since she sounds most natural pronunciation. I think Oliver had been the most popular English only VB but seems he's not used these days.
>>
>>18061
Oliver was perfect. He had a moe art style and a very mascot like design.
>>
>>18004
I refuse to believe this
>>18061
>>18064
His design is very strong, but his voice isn’t flexible enough to be used across genres. Very soft and niche voice. That he had a fanbase anyway is a testament to how good the design is.
I didn’t like Fukase but you could say the same thing about his terms of service.
>>
>>18004
They very do much exist, it’s just that they get a lot of pushback that they either hide it or stick to their own groups. Kinda like how Len thirsting was out in the open a decade ago, but now if someone were to do so people would reply with “he’s 14”
>>
>>18070
That's true. Might be part of why Oliver songs stopped popping up because it would have stagnated.
>>
>>18071
I don’t know, I don’t think a shota is needed to appeal to fujos. To me the biggest gap is in the ikemen space. The ones we have just aren’t that strong or don’t lean into it that much.
>>
>>18073
I don't think there's a lack of ikemen voicebanks nowadays, but the audience for male voicebanks in general is seriously lagging behind. People aren't using them as much now that the average casual fan thinks Vocaloid = anime girls.
Then again, I'm saying this after Nilfruits picked up an ikemen for the first time
>>
>>18074
Maybe there needs to be more cutesy male voices?
>>
>>18075
We did get one this year but it's on an engine no one uses. Kazehiki also exists but I'm not sure why he's so unpopular, his design is great.
>>
https://youtube.com/watch?v=E6qpNV7QPfg YouTube
>>18076
Kaze has a decent fandom in Japan for what it's worth. I guess the western fandom is no longer getting teens obsessed with teenage boys? That's pretty weird to think about.
>>
>>18077
I'd say there's still demand for bishounen type characters since I saw people being excited for Hitsuji Mio when he was announced. But at the same time it's like they ignore them once they actually come out. I doubt anyone in the WVF is going to care about Hitsuji Mio when he releases.
>>
>>18073
I agree with that, I was just saying that there are still plenty of fujos who gravitate towards shota or “shota-like” characters, but it’s more frowned upon by the community (and nowadays what constitutes shota completely depends on who you’re talking to). The only recent character that I’ve seen appeal to fujos is Frimomen but he has quite a bit of fudanshi fans too.
>>
>>18080
I dont think these virtue signalers really are part of the community, it's just result of social media algorithms making even the most niche thing mainstream exposed and stir up drama from nothing.

I realized I don't listen to much from the Chinese side of Vocaloid. Recommend me some Tianyi songs or whatever Chinese stuff you like.

ilem's songs are classics
>>
I wonder why more people don't try to brute force Chinese VBs like Tianyi into Engrish. It seems like they'd have more phonemes to work with for pronunciation than Japanese
>>
>>35190
Never tried but you're giving me ideas. I remember that back in the day people used Sonika to sing in Chinese and she's an English voicebank, so it would be cool to try the opposite.
>>
>>35190
I was curious what this would sound like since i've never really thought about it and I found a chinglish cover of ECHO
https://www.bilibili.com/video/BV13s411z7Ge [Embed]

It's actually really understandable
>>
>>35194
I actually spent today looking for covers too and I found this really clear sounding rotten girl cover
https://soundcloud.com/sweets0sweet/ai-luo-tianyi-english-confessions-of-a-rotten-girl-sawtowne-cover
I don't know if ACE just happens to have multilang function though since I've never used it
>>
>>17957
Old post is old but Oliver and Eleanor. We have them... or had...
>>
>>35205
Yeah i think ACE does have Chinese Japanese and English
https://www.bilibili.com/video/BV1TY411L7fD [Embed]

Here's another one with Vocaloid, the uploader made it as a prank to showcase her English pronunciation
>>
>>35194
Man, I love Chinglish, Konglish and Engrish covers. We need more of this. I miss old engrish USTs.
>>
>>35235
Man, ACE is really starting to sound appealing. I've been wanting to pick up a Tianyi to use for Chinese/Eng stuff and even based on what I've seen on VocaDB ACE seems to be the most popular VB option right now. But I've heard ACE is on a downward spiral so I'm really tentative to touch it
>>
>>35243
ACE as a vocal synth engine is fine. The reason its so hated is because its full of unnecessary AI kuso. But honestly, you should expect AI kuso from any Chinese vocal-synth.
>>
>>35210
Come to think about it yeah. Both Oliver and Eleanor were the most popular English specific loids at one point and both were discontinued. Now we have Teto but she's JP>EN so i don't count her.
>>
>>35253
Solaria might be in 2nd place now that Eleanor is discontinued though. She's been kind of forgotten while Solaria is still being used.
>>
>>35246
AI seems to be popular in China
>>
>>35210
Nope, we have Eleanor back now
