Even though I'm not super into shounen anime I'm pretty hyped for Yuki Kaji's loid, he seems decently popular too (≈12k followers, successful crowdfund + stretch goals reached, tweets usually get 500+ likes, one of his demos got like 20k views in one day iirc), I pray the hype doesn't die out once he's released like Sachiko.

Are there any popular male 'loids outside of Kaito and Len? I know Oliver and Piko used to be somewhat popular around the time of their release but the hype around them kinda died down in the late 2010's and these days i only see Len/Kaito content.

Long answer: Gakupo used to exist (crazy to look back on now I know, but Internet did recently hold a concert with him! He might've also gotten in VVV Music) I feel VY2 had his moment for a bit even if that's no longer the case, doesn't he have multiple songs in the Hall of Fame? Fanart of him also crosses my feed way more than I'd expect, without even searching. Fukase COULD have been one of the male loids people actually gave a fuck about but Yamaha had to Yamaha and fuck up his licensing. Also the randomest of loids, Ken, (the Japanese male that comes with V5 because I know there's a huge chance you don't even know who he is lol) got a song with 3 million views recently (

Gakupo has grown on me tbh. I used to not care for him at all but since i started listening to more male vsynth songs he's become one of my faves.

Avid KAITO enjoyer reporting in. I found him around 2011 although I've been dedicated for the past 8 or so years. I own his V3 as well as Asterian for SynthV. KAITO's V1 is especially beautiful in tone, I really hope to track down a copy I can afford one day. Honorable mentions to Matsudappoiyo & Killy Kyone for UTAU.
KAITO initially was just an interesting vocal which I'd tolerated. His voice felt a bit off-putting, and I thought his design was odd, but eventually he sunk his roots in my brain and grew like a funny little fungus. I've come to love him dearly after working with his software (& quirks) all these years.
Asterian's bass range and advanced features really filled in the gaps in what I wanted to be able to achieve with KAITO, but felt like pulling teeth to accomplish with my tuning skills when I was still actively working on covers.
I feel quite out of place in the community at large, as while I enjoy various female voicebanks (MEIKO particularly) I feel more drawn to the male or ambiguous vbs available. I like a vocal range which I can feel the resonance of and sing along to more easily. I've not really got any interest in waifu/husbandoism anymore.

That's respectable considering how everybody in the fandom sort of has a design over voice attitude to voicebanks. I've seen a couple Kaito fangirls who don't like his voice in fact.

Also for me it's Kazehiki, fucking adore his design but his soft voice is also satisfying to listen to. A shame he's so underrated.

It's not surprising to me, but still feels strange when people are only in it for the design. KAITO especially seems to attract criticism due to his nasal tone, which I admittedly found unpleasant at first. I've had the same experience with KAFU, her tonality was grating until I listened to her more. Now I've become somewhat fond of her.

Kazehiki is very nice! I've listened to his and Gekiyaku's UTAU VBs for some time, they complement each other nicely. His design and voice are both endearing
