Niconico services to be restricted outside Japan Mikudayo Thu, Oct 10, 2024, 02:57 PM No.24

Start archiving those MMD models you like because they won't be accessible soon.

People on 4chan's /jp/ are reporting that this is already taking place. I'm in South America and videos are still viewable, can any EU/NA anons confirm?.

I can confirm that I can't access Niconico Seiga, even with my account set to Japan's region. You now need a Japanese IP address to access it.

Nicopedia was blocked last month and now 403s overseas. Seiga is of course still restricted, as are videos with certain tags. Beyond blocking watching videos broadly, the only thing left for them to block at this point that anyone might care about would be Live (which they did very briefly when they site came back in 2024).
