Vocaloid Medley announced a fan made Teto concert in New York. This is the same company behind the Teto concert that took place in Argentina recently and is in charge of IA:R's first concert (also in Argentina) this year.

The concert takes place in September. No date has been revealed yet.

It’s a little fast-paced and honestly a bit dirty, but it’s fine for a trip. Travel options are good. This venue is only a ~20 minute walk from Penn Station. The move is to come up for a nice lunch somewhere and head out after the event.

I have half a heart to go, but after all the other associated effort/expense with an NYC overnight trip, I don’t think I should lol

60 for a concert doesn't seem like much
>>
Honestly VIP pack seems like a really good deal. Like, even without the extra merch bag stuff, tote bag itself + lightstick and a front seat should make up for the difference.
>>
>>2573
555 is a really small venue, seated too. Dunno about these penlights but usually those smart sticks are pretty flimsy. Still a good value I think, but worth setting expectations.
Bought GA for Friday on my end.

Just saw a pic of the interior, damn, you weren't kidding it is tiny
>>
Size seems fine for a fan concert
How many people typically attend those?
>>
>>2579

It depends but yeah, these are the venue sizes I would expect for most fan stuff especially considering they are not even using Miku in this and doing it in a city that is mostly untested for fan concerts. They seem to moving a good amount of tickets for now tho, saturday one already sold out so they added another date.

Vocafest is one of the bigger fan event organizers and even they usually go for no more than 300-400 people for a single show in cons which is understandable. Fan events just staying with small venues they can guarantee to sell out is almost always better than trying to go bigger and taking risks as one bad show can easily destroy or at least cripple everything they've built.
>>
>>2576
Teto Live in Japan also had a tiny venue but idk if it was this small

They just added a new Chile date for Teto Live and created an account for Chile related events on Instagram. I think Voca Medley will possibly expand into the rest of Latin America very soon with Venezuela and Uruguay being the next possibly countries considering they've already done concerts there.
>>
>>2628
Good for them but is this even legal? I mean i'm not complaining, the more people get to experience Vocaloid concerts the better and i'd definitely go if i had the chance, but wouldn't operating like this land them in legal trouble?
>>
>>2628
UK is possible too

>>2629
No idea. I think it's a grey area but I also haven't given it much thought.
>>
>>2629
That's what I was thinking too but there is also Vocafest which probably operating under similar conditions and they have been doing fine so far.I doubt twindrill or at least Crypton never heard of these fan events so they either got permission with a private mail to keep doing what they are doing or Crypton/Twindrill simply doesn't care.

I just hope it doesn't turn out to be a "Crypton/Twindrill was never aware" case. It would be sad to see Vocamedley or Vocafest randomly announcing they got a cease and desist letter one morning.
>>
>>2632
Not sure about Crypton or Twindrill but I at least know that they have 1ST PLACE's permission. They're even sponsoring the Argentina show themselves.

That being said if my prediction is correct they'll slowly expand these to Venezuela, Uruguay and the UK where they've already had some success and then possibly other European countries if there's a god.
>>
>>2633
You'll get your IA concert Europeanon. Believe in IA-chan.
>>
>>2634
I'm not even European myself lol, I just feel bad for the Europeanons here who were hoping for the return of IA in that other thread.
>>
>>2633
I really hope they keep expanding. If they find success in rest of LATAM maybe it also pushes Crypton a bit more to take the risk and do an expo there. Not that I think it would fail if they did but it's kinda sad to me they get nothing despite having a sizable and dedicated fanbase.

(Since Portugal got an EU expo date this year, I want to be a bit delusional and hope Brazil with rest of LATAM is next for expo)
>>
>>2628
Europe next please
>>
>>2628
How is it that they've done Venezuela and Uruguay but not Brazil?
>>
>>2640
If i had to guess it's because Brazil already has fanmade Vocaloid concerts. Venezuela and Uruguay basically have never had a fanmade Vocaloid concert ever until Vocaloid Medley showed up.
>>
>>2641
So they basically saw the opportunity and took it kek, i gotta respect that
I'm really hoping they expand to more European countries though, especially Italy
>>
>>2575
Never been to 555 but i've been in small seated venues before and yeah, they're not great. But it's Teto, how can i say no to Teto.

Fan concerts have come a long way, especially with the increase in demand within the last few years most of them now have some kind of merch for their shows. This is the merch list for a fan concert I went in Houston last year, I think they also did a show this year but sadly I couldn't go.

(All of these fan concert merch also makes expo merch prices this year a lot more sad)
>>
>>2629
There is a tremendous precedent for fan lives being done at cost in Japan. Crypton generally considers that behavior non-commercial if you register with them on Piapro, even if you charge a nominal fee for tickets. I don't get a tremendous feeling this is that profitable for anyone but it, like most grey areas with Crypton, is something they prefer to avoid confronting unless they absolutely have to due to past confrontations.
>>
>>2651
I wonder how close we are to fan concerts that are on par with Miku Expo. I think VM could pull it off with a good venue and someone in charge of the special effects. They already have a band and holograms which is the most important part.

Japanese fan concerts already beat MikuExpo in quality years ago
>>
>>2658
man why did they stop doing choparties?
>>
>>2628
I wonder if they'll do more US locations or just New York
>>
>>2653
Depends on the venue but I think they can do great stuff if they focus on concert quality and immersion rather than venue size.

One of the main shortcomings of expo is it tries to hit too many venues in less than 1 month and those venues differ in size a lot so something that barely fits in one venues can look lacking in big arenas. For example for EU expo, they both have the UK and Frances 3rd largest arenas and a 5-6k capacity venue within the same tour this year. If they changed how expo worked completely and focused on 1-2 major cities we could probably had at least MM or Lawson levels of concerts but they sell shit ton of tickets with the current model so why bother?
>>
>>2661
Their visuals are reminiscent of earlier MikuExpos but they absolutely have the potential to go further
>>
>>2661
It’s a tradeoff for sure. I’m sure they might get even worse feedback if there were only 1-2 stops in the country.. I don’t know if I’d go cross country and I’m a superfan
>>
I'd go to a VM concert but I think I'll wait for more locations. I don't live near New York.

>>2659

>>
>>2775

>>
>>2823
Success of NYC one should motivate them to do so. I think it can fully (or mostly) sell out all 3 days at this point. Sunday show is also about to sell out so it only leaves friday.

As cool as it is to see a Teto concert in the states, the footage I've seen from the IA concert in Argentina left me wanting to see her live. When was the last time they did an IA show before this?.

To those who have been to VM concerts. Are they really that high quality like people say?. What makes them any different from the ones we often have at cons?.

It doesn't even have to be just for concert. We can just decide on a meetup time around the time when the concert ends and anyone interested around the area can come.
>>
https://youtube.com/watch?v=Txtvx25lAKU YouTube
>>3013
Yea. I went to the single concert they did around 2024 in Montevideo back when they were only known in Latin America and went by "Virtual Stars" rather than Vocaloid Medley.
>Are they really that high quality like people say?
Their motions are entirely mocapped from actual dancers and the models are made from scratch by some guy named Agustin Sanchez who you might've seen around Twitter. Overall, yes they're very high quality.
>What makes them any different from the ones we often have at cons?.
Take this with a grain of salt because the concert I went to was the first and only Vocaloid fan-event ever hosted in the country and since then there haven't been any unless you include cosplayer groups which are a whole different thing. Their shows are known for using holograms rather than LEDs and having live bands and dancers (neither were present at the one I went to but I assume it was to cut on travel costs, still had lots of fun tho).

Vidrel is from the event I went to. Sorry for vertical, it's one of the only ones i could find.

The ones I remember are
>2 songs featuring the guest character, not sure what they were
>Teto Territory
>Fukkireta
>You Look So Cool! (not sure if title is correct? but I love the song, it’s another vintage one)
>Hitomania
>Igaku
>Daidaidaidaikirai
>Triple Baka
>Mesmerizer
>Regret Rock
>Yarara
>Intense Voice of Hatsune Miku (cover)
>Love is War (cover, rearranged)
>Culture (cover)
>Liar Dancer
>Override
>Tetoris
>Birdbrain
>Song of the Eared Robot (closer, slow mix)
And there are some I don’t remember. I think the entire show was about an hour and a half. Tough to cover everything in that much time, but I think the showrunners did a great job, and the production value was surprisingly good.
>>
>>3196
also Doomer
>>
>>3196
No Machine Love? I'm surprised
>>
>>3198
I don’t know the song super well so I might’ve not remembered it. There was some kind of mashup early in the set that might have incorporated some lyrics from it. Some songs were abridged to squeeze more in
>>
>>3193
Real solid, very nice mix of old and new songs as was stated earlier. I was right up front and the hologram effect was pretty good (looks like one transparent screen front projected and then a solid screen behind rear projected)
The mae.exe character had a few good songs as well, happy to see the producer get her up there in front of a crowd
>>
>>3196
Looks good, thank you dayo.
>>
So did anyone show up? Stickers status?
>>
>>3196
Decent
>>
>>3202
Something I've observed when giving them out to people unfamiliar with the site is that they almost always take the dayo one because they don't recognize the leekaloids
>>
>>3204
That's to be expected. Most people don't even know this site exists and if they do i highly doubt they'd care for our UTAUs. Dayo is recognizable even to the most normie fan.
>>
>>3204
Add a shop to 39chan and sell the stickers and cards there, for those in Europe, Australia and Latin America
>>
I hope that after Teto in Chile we get IA in US and EU.
>>
Sunday dayo how was the show?
>>
now that its over. how does it compare to mikuexpo?. people were saying that its the same level of quality a few threads ago.
>>
>>3213
I'm curious if the setlist was any different from saturday
>>
>>3214
the models looked closer to project DIVA style (specifically future tone).
>>
>>3214
Hologram was cool, I don't know how the official one was but LED is definitely a lot more sharper. Models were a bit more 3d compared to LED with no background but details are harder to make out, also colors doesn't pop out as much so I would still prefer the LED but this was a fan concert in the end and I would day it was really good one.

One big advantage of this was having a lot of the recent songs tho, for someone who is not willing to go to JP this might have been the only way to see songs like mesmerizer or PPPP. They aren't my favorites but hearing people next to you scream "tung tung tung sahur" at PPPP is an epic experience.
>>
>>3214
As a fan team, they have a little more flexibility with the material, so they can do stuff like add talkloid gags in between the songs and do remixes. >>3217 has an accurate take on the image quality, although personally I had no preference vs. LED.
If you somehow did something like this on a similar scale as Expo (venue size, people lining up for hours) the experience would be similar despite some differences in the show. It is kind of like a con.
>>
I was expecting setlist to be a lot more Synth V Teto sided but both tetos got a good amount of songs. Also closing with "song of the eary robot" and using both tetos was great move imo.

They also said whole thing is gonna be uploaded on youtube as it was the last show.
>>
>>3214
Never been to Miku Expo and missed out on the hologram era. But the models and animations (they're motion captured i think?) for VM's holograms are very good quality and could easily pass off as official material. Video quality like the other anon said is a bit hit or miss though i personally would take the hologram over LED. The band also made the whole show better and it makes me wish more vocaloid fan concerts had bands.
>>
>>3221
Samefagging here but venue is smaller than the average Expo venue, you can see it in the pics posted above.
I think it could have benefited from having a bigger venue and maybe some sort of "cage" (i don't know what to call it) where the band is more visible but at the same time isn't the main focus.
>>
So essentially, it was TETOEC but in New York and with a band. Nice.
>>
>>3222
I guess they wanted to play it a bit safe since it was their first show here, also it might be harder to find a venue that agrees to do something like this without a proven audience. If they had 2 shows in total rather than 6 I think they could have filled out a place with 750 seats or something close to that since this place got 160 seats. It was still fun tho, I just want to see the footage to check if people were actually chanting in some songs or was it the bass tricking my ears.
>>
>>3224
My guess is they'll upload it on youtube after a week or two. There's some videos on their Instagram stories and idk if they've expired by now.
>>
Seems to have been a success so i'd be surprised if they don't return. And like the rest of the anons, I'm hoping for IA
>>
>>3226
I think they might also try another city before returning to NYC which would be cool ngl.
>>
>>3227
Did you read this somewhere or just speculation?
>>
>>3228
just speculating, we will probably hear something about their next location a bit before Chile show if they announce it like before. Also checked the Chile venue to see how big it is and it has around 400 seats but they are only doing a single day there rather than 3.

I wonder if they can reach out to some decently sized and funded con to organize something like this in the future for NA:

Probably because they are a Latin American group and they already do a ton of concerts there
>>

Sunday recording posted on their dicksword (not official)
(most of it isn't portrait)
>>
>>3236
So they DID play Machine Love
>>
>>3236
Jesus christ this is ridiculously high quality for what it is
>>
>>3238
That's VocaMedley for ya. I wonder if other fan events will follow in adding a live band, mocap animations and custom models.
>>
>>3236
Looks very fun, were you in the crowd there?
>>
I didn't say anything to him but I saw Kio at the event. Also official upload when?.
>>
>>3241
who
>>
>>3242
He's referring to the MMD animator. He posts on /mmd/ sometimes.
>>
>>3240
He was at the 7pm show I believe

>>3245
Was Mae.exe just Miku? Sounds like the English Miku voicebank in this song
>>
>>3245
Birdbrain sounds so much better with live drums
>>
>>3248
yeah this performance made me appreciate birdbrain a lot more tbh. looks fun as fuck live.
>>
>>3247
I think the singing voice is Miku but the speech is a real person
>>
>>3003
did anything come out of this
>>
>>3250
>>3247
It is Miku
>>
>>3251
I guess no. A con or some another event is probably a better place to organize a meetup as for concerts, people usually come a bit before show starts and don't hang around for too long after it ends unless it's miku expo. Maybe we can actually do something organized for next Miku day like some JP folks do but need to know how many of us dayos are actually living close to each other.
>>
I really wonder how much money goes into something like this
>>
>>3260
If what google says is true, venue they used costs around $2-3k for single show. Setup probably costs at least $500 too considering their projector was above avg. Cryptonand Twindrill seem to be ok with these type of events but at least for fan concerts, they don't seem to allow profiting from the whole thing. Making back the costs of production should be fine but no profits. I don't think they would have a way to enforce that outside JP tho.
>>
>>3267
There's also mocap costs
>>
>>3268
Are basic Video->Motion tools good enough for this level of production these days?
>>
>>3269
They use actual mocap suits. I can't recall the name of the video right now because it was in Spanish but there was a BTS of how they make the motions for Vocaloid Medley and they use the real thing, not Video->Motion AI.
>>
https://youtube.com/watch?v=u6EFXkjnthc YouTube
>>3270
Nevermind its in English and i found it
>>
>>3271
That's a lot of fuckin work for a fan concert. Argentina i kneel.
>>
>>3271
Oh it actually is the professional kind of Mocap. That's pretty crazy.
Even crazier that it came from Argentina of all places, isn't Argentina notoriously expensive?.
>>
>>3276
Suddenly that ridiculous theory about VM being funded by the government makes sense lol
>>
>>3287
I'll believe it when they do TETOEXPO at the Hammerstein Ballroom.
>>
>>3259
it did but it was just the same people from otakon
>>
>>3271
Must be really high budget if they're doing the professional kind of motion capture and hiring actual dancers to do it.
>>
Doubt we have much people here from latin america but is anyone going to Teto in Chilr
>>
>>3304
Same guest as NYC (Mae) will be there. No mention of band or Peko-P so i assume it'll just be the hologram.
>>
>>3245
Why does Birdbrain sound so much better with actual instruments?
>>
>>3304
I am from latin america but unfortunately i am from paraguay so i doubt we will ever get anything. There has never been any fan vocaloid concerts here, and our neighbor countries have waaay better cons.

yzyx and crusher in 2026. i want to go to chile now.

This is something my 12 year old self would have loved

I mean this positively of course, I love Crusher and Teto
>>
>>3346
Wow
>>
As much as I like VM, I wish they'd just announce all the countries they'll go to in one post instead of doing it separately because I always get my hopes up thinking they'll return here only to be disappointed a week later when it turns out to be yet another Argentina concert.
>>
>>3354
It's a group from Argentina
Don't be surprised that a majority of their concerts take place there
>>
>>3354
I doubt they can plan much further than whatever is immediately upcoming, both logistically and financially.
>>
Is anyone going to Teto Live Chile
>>
>>3360
i wish man
gotta wait until they announce a concert for my country, which seems unlikely but not impossible

Any clue if they will do east Asia tours in the future? I am from Korea but VM is the best fan made concert i've ever seen

I would say give it time. They still have a quite a few countries to cover in Latin America still, such as Peru. And they haven't properly expanded throughout Europe yet.
>>
>>3400 Only SA/NA and the UK for now :lukaspin:
