Nah. Maybe back in the 10's but we're in the AI age now.

After many painful hours in Blender, learning how to make hair, learning how to export MMD models, asking friends for help with the textures, attempting to weight paint after 3 years without rigging, reading guides, asking AI for help translating Japanese words, and fucking around in PMX editor, my masterpiece is complete.

I bring you the Vocaloid meme to end all Vocaloid memes. The fanloid, the myth, the legend - Yukarietto / Concerned Yukari. And yes, this is my first MMD model EVER. She is a buggy little creature, so I don't recommend using poses/motions meant for other models. Now go and spread this little demon everywhere you can.

Feel free to make edits, or port it to other games/engines. I don't ask for credit but if you really gotta credit me, credit me as Snail.

We have a thread for finding lost USTs and VSQs on /leek/ so I decided to make one of these but for lost MMD motions, models, etc.

I'm looking for this low-poly Miku I found on Deviantart:
https://www.deviantart.com/alelokk/art/90-s-Miku-372259231
Pic is from 2013 and titled "90's Miku" which might or might not be the name of the model. Given that it is from 2013 I assume the model must have been made around the early 2010's. According to the description of this image, the creator is AndreehXD but their Deviantart page has been down for who knows how long.

 No.956

>>953
To put it simply, you make a copy of your base model and delete all of the bones/physics/rigid joints. Anything that's not the mesh basically.

Then you add your clothes or hair on top, fit and resize them. If there's, say, breasts poking out of the shirt, you don't need to bother with it right now, the main point is that it generally fits the body.

After this, you delete all of the body mesh from the material folder, leaving only your fitted clothes/hair. Then you save that model asnew and open your original model, then drag and drop your fitted clothes/hair on top, it's going to ask you if you want to open as new or "add", pick add, it will automatically merge the bones for you, so the clothes or hair move together with the body.

About earlier: if there's a bit of a body showing through, you usually just deal with it by deleting vertex of the parts that are poking through, so in that earlier example finding material for the torso and deleting the boobs.

A lot of the old MMD creators have either retired or moved onto more advanced software like Blender, Maya or even Koikatsu, series like the classic "Welcome to Vocaloid" are basically a relic of the past at this point and no one makes them anymore, MMD artists no longer share OC online except for Deviantart veterans. Even the "Genshin Impact dance videos" people claim to have dethroned Vocaloid MMD PVs seem to be on decline recently. Is the MikuMikuDance community dying?.

Oddly enough MMD still has a niche community of active and talented NSFW animators and modelers at Iwara. Which makes me wonder if there's some site like Iwara but SFW where people post their MMD content. Obviously not in the west. Sadly no one's willing to make a site like that here, but I wouldn't doubt that something like that exists in Japan.

Honestly... I'm amazed that Blender still doesn't come with preset animation-ready models for people to play around with. I was only able to actually navigate my way around the program for the first time as a kid when I imported a bunch of Nintendo models from TheModelsResource so I could actually play around with rendering, lighting, animation etc without having to jump the hurdle of making a fully fledged model myself. Having a model immediately at your disposal is such an intuitive way to learn that I always recommend beginners to grab something from that site to play around with before I'd ever recommend any donut tutorial.

Hi /mmd/,
I've been working on a fork of the MikuMikuOnline source code over the past moth to not only translate the UI into English, but to also make it faster, more stable, and eventually adding more features. I have finished the first full release of the client which includes a new title screen, loading bars, English UI, and a redesigned chat UI.
If you want to test, you can find the source and releases here:
https://github.com/figamin/MikuMikuOnline_wss-mod
Note that you will need Visual Studio 2010 in order to compile the game. I have included all the needed libraries in the repo.

I've been doing some experimentation with MMDBridge. While it doesn't officially support LightWave, I was able to import a Blender-friendly Alembic export. The only quirks I had to deal with were the camera being kinda screwed (fixed by importing the VMD into Blender and exporting a camera-only Alembic through it) and having to reassign all materials manually.

As if the recent news about UMG copyrighting random UTAU covers wasn't bad enough... A recent post I saw seems to show evidence that Deviantart appears to be collapsing. Now some of you might see Deviantart as the "cringy" art website from the 2000s with fetish art and traced art, but it's also home to hundreds if not thousands of MMD models, motions, etc (some of which come from abandoned accounts).

If we're really getting closer to a future in which Deviantart doesn't exist, go download your favorite model, your favorite motion, hell, even the weird fetish art if that's your thing. Save it on a hard drive or upload it to a site like the Internet Archive.
