Do you guys actually use other chans? How do feel comfortable in an environment (Chan sites) where this is a prevalent issue? Is it just compartmentalization to deal with it?
Or do most of you only use 39chan and no others?
Even seeing Neru ties back into this negative association trigger now, :( (Neru—>Smith->39chan->Friends of 39chan->other poorly moderated sites with csem). This is basically OCD taking something I love and weaponizing it against me.
Anyways, any kind thoughts or insights would be really helpful. I love you guys, I’m just really goin through it right now.

>>971That's not 39chan or even Hioka's problem so I don't know why you're making it seem like it is.
Yes, that stuff does get spammed on Imageboards and Forums quite often but it's often not even done by real humans and instead bot farms, and on sites that aren't protected by captchas or other anti-spam methods. The Project DIVA forum for example doesn't get CSEM but it does get porn spam.
Wapchan and 39chan use Anubis which is sort of like Cloudflare. I've never heard of this Mootxico thing but I'd assume it doesn't have the same level of protection/moderation.
No.973
>>972Also places like 2channel and Futaba Channel which were the origin sites for many of the Fanloids and VIPPERLOIDs got that type of spam as well. It's unfortunately inevitable if you don't protect your site.

>>971huh, is neurotically freaking out about loose associations to things that upset you an OCD thing? i had this exact issue like a year ago where i was like (online community i was in -> other community that slowly grew increasingly adjacent to it -> personal traumatising online stuff that happened kinda around that fandom) and went into a several month long freakout over it. just kinda assumed i was being stupid for no reason. i always used words like contaminate and unsafe too and everyone always just thought i was overreacting.
>>973i dont think anon is dogging on the site, i think theyre just airing out some personal stuff in a neutral tone.
No.976
>>971What you're mentioning are bots. Because unfortunately, yes, we have gotten to a point where people are coding bots that spam CSEM on any website that allows you to make posts. This isn't even an Imageboard or Forum exclusive problem, even Twitter is dealing with stuff like this. I've seen some nasty shit spammed by bots under innocent meme tweets for example.
But either way, the sites on the "Friends of 39chan" section mostly don't have this issue because they're well moderated. 39chan, Hikari, Wap, Kissu and Holotower have their own ways of dealing with the spam and have been successful at it. Other imageboards, not so much.
No.977
>>971Neither 39min or Hioka are responsible for what gets posted on other sites. I don't want to make you even more paranoid but realistically any website without decent moderation is prone to illegal spam. The only reason it's harder to see on social media sites like Reddit, Facebook and Twitter is because they have a trillion AIs scanning your content.

And yeah I’m not digging on 39 at all, as I said this place itself is very safe.
>>976Yeah Xitter is somehow actually worse than image boards at this point. Probably because their mod staff was absolutely gutted. I won’t touch that place anymore aside from reading a linked tweet.
I think in case of Xitter it feels less contamination by association because I feel like the vast majority of people on there are completely unaware of that happening on there since ownership changed.

>>977Does 39chan use AI to scan for spam as well? Been using this site for ages and have never seen anything illegal other than threads about piracy and pocaloid lol.
No.981
>>980We scan your content for malicious keywords or links but we don't use AI models for it. Just tons of scripting and regex.
We actually have an automod, in fact, but since our site rarely receives spam we don't have a single ban on our banlist done by the automod yet.If i'm not mistaken, 39chan originally launched in a very unmoderated state and without filters, CloudFlare or any type of firewalls, so it was prone to getting that type of spam. But right after the Canon interview various methods of preventing that stuff were implemented and nowadays the only spam we really get is from crossboarders who think they're funny on rare occasions. It's safe to use 39chan even if you've never used an imageboard before.

>>971We're affiliated with Wapchan because it's a neat website and the owner is staff on 39chan. But I have no control over who Wapchan decides to associate with, that's up to the owner. And even then I doubt that Mootxico's staff allows that crap, it's spam, and it gets posted on multiple imageboard sites that lack the levels of moderation we have.
Typically I only affiliate with sites I know are safe to browse, and that might be relevant to the average 39chan poster. As an example, vtubers and Vocaloid sort of go hand in hand (Uiroid and #kzn exist are two examples) so we're affiliated with Holotower. The "websites we like" section is more like a "websites i'd like to partner with if i could" kind of thing.

>>979A bit unrelated but i hate how much of the internet is centralized on Twitter these days. It's almost as if you're missing out on everything by not having Twitter.
Want to keep track of new releases by your favorite producers? Go on Twitter. Want to keep track of any kind of Vocaloid news? Go on Twitter. Want to look at art? Go on Twitter, and if you're lucky enough the artist might also have a Pixiv or a Misskey.

i have it mildly, my OCD thoughts are also the kind where you have to triple-check the file you attached to your work email JUST IN CASE you accidentally somehow attached real-life gay porn even if you have no such thing on your computer
and POCD which, while scary at times, is actually relatively easy to deal with once you practice treating it>>971>Do you guys actually use other chans?had been using 4chan since 2011 or so but stopped using it in the past year after finally reaching my limit with incompetent moderation. i only use holotower and 39chan now
i've been RELATIVELY lucky in that i've never (at least that i'm aware of) seen CSAM online, or if i have then i don't remember it/i looked away quickly enough for it to not scar me

I only use 39chan nowadays. I used to frequent the Vocaloid generals on /jp/ but they've been becoming progressively lower quality and Tetofag (the guy who says "shitgu" and posts legit CSEM, not drawn porn but the real deal) was the last straw for me.

Tetofag ran a bunch of the people there off the site.

I never saw anything like that or human gore posting or animal abuse posting here or anything along those lines. Not even seen ordinary live porn here either. The board is pretty tame. If anything gets past current antibot system I have some possible solutions.

>>970In the early days of wapchan, I was looser with who I allowed as site friends, and a while ago I removed all of the NSFW ones, but the admin of mootxico asked me to put their link back and when I checked the site last it did not have any of this sort of spam (I havent checked that site in years honestly and just wanted to be diplomatic). In the future it would be more helpful to me if you just emailed me directly about these sort of issues rather than put it on blast

Sadly this is the fate of most altchans, especially those that don't prioritize their moderation.
Like everyone has said in this thread, pretty much every chan site gets hit with that type of spam unless you have filters and other ways of preventing it. I'm just glad that both wapchan and 39chan at least do something about it.

Increased dopaminergic activity causes an increased sense of importance since it is thought dopamine is what makes us pay attention to what matters so too much signaling and it can cause a sense of enthusiasm (though this likely is a downstream effect I assume) or drawing connections where there is none or very little which leads to delusions because it feels so important.

unfortunately, pretty much everywhere gets spammed with this shit
I know the folks over at denpachan gave up on being anonymous access over it and became a forum instead, and they didn't even have image posting. It was just constant and hard to deal with when you don't have a large staff.
I go on sites with a fairly large (and international, so they're on at all hours of the day) moderation staff that still have the problem, it just gets deleted within five minutes (often more like five seconds) instead of staying up for five hours while the admins are asleep/at work.
