How good is the moderation on here? I'm usually scared of going on imageboards because of pedo spammers but since Neru's creator felt comfortable hosting an AMA here maybe it's safe and well moderated? I know some of the other sites in the webring are not as well modded so I'm super cautious about any imageboard that isn't 4chan. Even lainchan hasn't been holding up as well as they used to.

I think this site is extremely moderated, but whether that's a good or a bad thing is up for you to decide. Back when 39chan launched there were CSEM bots spamming boards like /g/, but around the time Hioka hosted his first Q&A the staff implemented the oekaki captcha along with other anti spam measures and we haven't seen a single CSEM bot since. Most spam we get now is crossboarders being annoying faggots who can't adapt to the site's culture but usually they get banned within minutes.

We dont get any illegal spam

like this anon said, we haven't had to deal with that type of spam in years. as for how good the moderation is, i personally havent had any issues. but again, you need to be actually braindead to get banned of this site.

Like everyone else said already we don't get that spam anymore so if you fear you might stumble upon CSEM while browsing then you don't have to worry. It hasn't been an issue on 39chan since the captcha was implemented. That's not to say we don't get spam though, we sometimes get schizos from other boards disturbing the comfy nature of the site but we typically ban them within minutes or adapt our filters to automatically detect them every time they post. Raids might happen as this is an imageboard and we unfortunately live in the 2020's but we've got a shit ton of filters put in place to prevent them on top a bigger mod team, Anubis and the oekaki captcha which expires after a couple minutes so they never last too long plus usually come from a single IP/VPN service.

That being said though, I do suggest that you lurk before posting. You don't necessarily need to know about previous events, leekaloids and all that stuff, but do keep shit chill, on-topic and non-political, otherwise it's hammer time.

Active and good. /thread

Thanks for all the responses, yeah illegal material was my main concern. When I was looking into vocaloid history and looked into 2channel and futaba a while back, they definitely weren't doing enough to prevent it there, and I wont' be going back there again because of it.

>>876
That's for popping in too. Comforting to know mods are very active here.

You guys seems chill so I might come by more often.

39chan doesn't exactly play a big role in Vocaloid history like 2channel did, or at least not yet. We have our own equivalent to the VIPPERloids but they never took off outside of the site (though more people seem to be finding out about Toriko lately). And yes sometimes we have those AMAs but they're rare and almost always involve Japanese creators because the staff seem to be afraid of the Western community.

 No.880

>staff seem to be afraid of the Western community
Honestly i can't really blame them, the western fandom IS scary. And the average western VocaP (assuming they're aware of this site in the first place) probably thinks of us as some 4chan clone for vocaloid fandom rejects.

 No.881

>>880
I wouldn't see it that way tbh. A couple western producers do know about 39chan's existence and even post here, and some producers (Meaty-P) kinda owe their career to /leek/. You'd have to be really ignorant to think of 39chan as "4chan for vocaloid rejects".

>staff seem to be afraid of the Western community
This site actively promotes itself on Twitter to Vocaloid fans, I don't think it's afraid of anything.

 No.883

Considering this site's userbase overlaps with Utaforum, Vocaverse and for better or for worse, the subreddit, it does seem like part of the WVF respects 39chan or at least acknowledges it as its own thing. Which is nice.

I still wouldn't hold my breath for western producer interviews though.

>>882
SNS promotion can be risky considering the types of people you can attract but it seems to have worked out for both 39chan and Wapchan (not owned by Puzzle but still owned by one of the admins here)

I suggest changing your browser settings to turn off disk cache. I only use ram cache if any but often not that either. Also turn off page thumbnails sometimes is a good idea but likely is not needed if your browser properly deletes it later or only stores your favorites. I once found a folder containing thousands of page thumbnail images from websites I go to because in the past some old version of Firefox on macOS was permanently storing these. Helps reduce possibility of having something illegal stored on your computer without you knowing. I also suggest disabling link prefetch so your browser does not make calls to potentially illegal or malicious links without you even clicking them. Also set download location to always ask, this prevents automated downloads which is good to avoid malicious auto downloading of malware and whatnot. This is just the basics of least you can do for anyone browsing the internet.

It helps that the SNS pages aren’t huge in terms of post frequency or traffic. If someone with a large follower count prompted a surge of traffic it could be potentially dangerous.

The twitter intern sometimes reposts stuff made here and then it gets reposted by people who have never used the site, but the bluesky one is mostly quiet and only posts when there's a major update on the site itself (guessing they're run by two different people?)

 No.889

Most people who repost those memes and stuff will probably never visit the site anyway.

Wait how do you know it overlaps with those sites

because people have admitted to using those forums lol

I prefer it that way. Someone like Hioka or Canon is much more relevant to Vocaloid culture than a WVF producer.

I have downloads set to always ask, and the cache is set to clear on exit, but I'm not gonna fuck around in about:config (Firefox).

Your fortune: Outlook good

You sound like the Japanese fans that pretend a western fandom doesn't exist at all when it's just an insular perspective. There are arguably western producers active right now far more influential than Hioka ever was.

No complaints on my part, and I've never seen anyone post CSAM. Even so, if someone posts it, its likely a bot hosted in bumfuck Russia rather than an actual user. They target imageboards all the time.
The only bans I've seen here have been deserved but that's only the public ones, idk about private ones.

 No.896

I'll add this though. I've had friends be warned before for posting political content/derailing threads. Warnings are like temporary bans that can last between 5 minutes to an hour.

 No.897

>>893
Clearing on exist is probably okay enough but ideally I'd turn off disk cache or reduce the cache size to 0 in size. I turn it off entirely because sometimes bad caches make sites load wrong images and because when it goes to disk it reduces disk writes and I don't really see much improvement in page loading speed with cache on. Firefox config isn't that scary to mess with. I've done all sorts of modifications and you can reverse them all if you remember what ones you modified.
