>>8368True. I feel like SynthV is different just because most VBs lack the power of Vocaloids unless you distort them to high hell, but as far as Vocaloids go I've seen Miki metal, Bruno electronic, Maika, Gumi, VFlower, & Miku in just about every genre, Big Al & Gakupo in almost everything deep enough. The only ones I haven't seen in most genres are the ones with less users overall, like Mirai Komachi.

>>8379I think it’s the prominent lower eyelid. The artist is replicating that makeup trend that makes your eyes look bigger, but on an anime character it looks more like eyebags or something. That and the grey eyes. I kind of like it on teto since it makes her look more mature.

No.8398
>>8396As much as I wanted it and how happy I am about this, I’m typically super pessimisstic about things like this and assumed he wouldn’t. There are tons of people who make Vocaloid rap yet only a few people use Yi Xi and I never see anyone use Eri/D-Lin/Ritchy, barely anyone used Prima and most of her uses are outside of her intended genre. Tonio was mostly used for memes and most uses of Yi Xi also aren’t her intended genre. TAK is Korean but prefers using Miku to SeeU or Uni back when they were available to purchase, and he probably won’t be using Uni even after she gets re-released. Despite the Musical Isotopes having a rap vocal (Haru), I see way more people use Kafu for rap as well.
These producers probably know not using Miku/Teto/Insert Popularloid Here will cost them tons of views, even if said Vocaloid fits their genre better and will make production easier than using Miku. This isn’t to say that using Miku, Teto, or other popular Vocaloids is bad though, they’re popular for a reason.
Maybe this is a sign things are changing though? Since Giga also has used Galenaia, and the Japanese fandom says they also have MikuTeto fatigue (Either that or Eclipsed Sounds just secretly commissioned Utsu lol.)

>>8413Would definitely agree when it comes to other Vocaloids (who gives a fuck about Allen) but SynthV (and Cevio & Voisona) have an actual rap feature, and rap is more similar to speech/a separate vocal technique than singing so it gives them the upper hand
You have to be veryyy skilled to make Vocaloid rap/opera/metal growl or scream, I think that’s just more of a “Giga is a tuning god” thing lol (and Utsu in the case of Vocaloid metal), I really hope Yamaha tries to better implement extended vocal techniques like SynthV one day, especially seeing how popular the ES vocals are even with normies and Japanese producers who typically stick to their favorite loids.
I feel Vocaloids all sing the same way without tuning, so marketing them for separate genres is pretty much pointless

We will likely be okay, all things considered. If I've learned something from the last event it's that outsiders who come here are typically respectful of our site's culture and leave once the Q&A is over. The ones who stick around aren't troublemakers either, for example that guy making 3D Ritsu renders seems to have adapted well. Bad posts/threads here also get deleted/banned or locked so once again, I don't think the Twitter crowd will be much of an issue. Like we do with most people who come here, if they behave, they can stay.

These are typically held by renting small- to mid-size conference rooms or industrial exhibition facilities. The venue for “Intane Square” is one such site—the Kawasaki City Industrial Promotion Hall, which has exhibition areas, meeting rooms, and a small hall. The photos show scenes from past doujin events, taken from the facility’s blog. Because facilities like this exist in many regional cities, small- to mid-scale only events held nearby are a real boon for people living outside the major metropolitan areas.
At these events, half of a folding banquet table counts as one space (booth), and the total number of spaces varies widely—from around 50 to several hundred. Some popular genres exceed 500 spaces, while extremely niche, volunteer-run events can have fewer than 25.
Most only events are organized around a specific title, but some genres are niche to a degree that baffles outsiders. I’ve actually seen an only event devoted exclusively to nameless background characters from The Idolmaster…

Water the Roses was just okay. I liked Static and Weiward Romance, but the only one I absolutely love was Butcher Vanity.

>>9759I feel the same way about a lot of modern Vocaloid (especially western Vocaloid). No disrespect to the producers of course, they do their best, but a lot of it just isn't for me. The only recent producers I really like are TAK, Atena and Iyowa.
No.9765
>>9764Ironically, I feel that way about both the Western and Japanese community, finding myself listening to songs from between 2012 and 2019 the most, with some smaller Western producers interspersed and the occasional notable Western producer I actually like, such as R.I.P, I usually like Vane too but they're preoccupied with Flavor Foley. I miss Team 6x111 but that's never coming back, and even then while I like a lot of GHOST's newer songs, you could feel their exhaustion in how most of it sounded similar or lower effort before they retired. Recently I've been listening to a lot of Sweet Revenge. As far as Japanese producers go, I like some newer ones like Atena but I've recently found myself listening to a lot of Joruzin, Utsu-P, and Machigerita. I unfortunately am not as big a fan of TAK or Iyowa as most people here and I feel like that adds to the boomer feeling.
No.9766
>>9765>>9764This kind of change was neccessary for Vocaloid to remain relevant for a modern audience. It's just the kind of music that resonates with the main target demographic these days. I personally don't really mind the new direction, Weathergirl really resonates with me on a deeper level. But I do find myself wishing we could get more stuff like Wildfire or Typewriter.
I will say I feel like AI autotuning the songs makes them feel way less unique. Sure a lot of the old stuff sounds way jankier, but it feels like it gave the songs in general more soul.
No.9767
>>9766True enough, for me the GHOST copycat era resonated with me most despite discovering Vocaloid in 2013 and my first GHOST song being Foolish in 2014. I feel like my taste in music is fairly outdated in all regards, though. I don't necessarily mind SynthV but I wish people would use parameters at the minimum and I've seen multiple producers using untuned Miku in originals now, which hasn't been a wide scale problem since either around or before I was a fan. That's one issue, but I'm also really not into how everything sounds so similar instrumentally either. It's one thing to have a style, even the GHOST clones of old had notable differences in their style. There's some producers where if you held them side by side now, I couldn't tell other than (perhaps) the art style or the vsynths used.
No.9773
>>9765I'm kinda just tired of the fast paced songs with cool music videos that feel like they're made to go viral. Which probably feels hypocritical considering I mentioned TAK, Iyowa and Atena who all do this, but TAK and Atena at least bring their own unique take on it and Iyowa makes some really weird dissonant experimental jazz that I've never heard before. But man I kinda wish we would just go back to still images and guitars (like niki). There's a few producers still doing this but they barely get any views.
No.9774
>>9773That's just the new meta unfortunately
You need a catchy fast paced song and an animated MV to go viral
Iyowa's a smart guy, his music has always sounded the same but he used to make still image MVs, he now animates them so as you'd expect his stuff blew up
No.9776
>>9774There's a couple producers who aren't very fond of this meta like Atena who criticized it while adhering to it at the same time lol
No.9788
>>9773Absolutely. I also feel like when you're being unique song wise, having a still image is a nice tradeoff. I've found myself listening to a lot of producers under 5k recently because they're usually more guaranteed to have a lot of effort put in, even if it occasionally isn't my thing.

I don't expect anything to come out of this but if someone here is actually willing to make it happen: get a team, because it's a huge pain in the ass. A single person can't do this.
You need a motion graphics guy, a really good animator or someone with access to mocap
(there's this argentinian group that does fan concerts and they use real mocap from dancers), and an entire team of people with all the necessary equipment: think projectors, that transparent fabric, speakers, etc. The reason you'd need a lot of people across the country/countries is so that different states/countries can have the same experience without you having to travel across the entire continent with the equipment.
Additionally you'd also have to get in contact with people who work with convention events to ask if you could host the concert there, or rent out a venue yourself.
Maybe I'm mistaken and there's an easier way to do this but if you're serious about it that's one way you can go about it I guess.
Here's footage of some recent fanconcerts for reference:

>>9851I probably worded this weirdly so I apologize (ESL-kun). But basically what I'm trying to say is that if some anon in... let's say, Canada, has all the equipment and another anon in Los Angeles does too, there's no need to travel from one place to another. Or at least that's how I see it.
