Any producers on this site? I've made stuff with both SynthV and Vocaloid. But I wanna hear what you've got.

 No.74

I've used utau and vocaloid a bit, I wanna try synthv but I'm too poor lmaoo

 No.77

I'm currently working on a song using Sonika. Will post the full thing when it's done.

 No.78

In the meantime here's something I made a while back. It's hard to write in English as ESL so the lyrics are not the best.

 No.79

ey this is good. if we memed sonika back into relevance it'd be hilarious. too bad she's a bitch to tune.

 No.82

>>79
When CircusP was Matt9five he used to use Sonika a lot, didn't he? Does he still use her? I haven't kept up with him since he like actually became a "proper" producer lmao

 No.83

>>82
I don't think he has used Sonika in decades. He has used recent engloids like Po-uta though.

 No.85

Damn….. aiSeNMa was probably my favorite song from him. I hope he starts using her again someday.

 No.104

Sonika is my favorite english voicebank so i'll continue using her. I know she's a pain in the ass to tune trust me i've done a lot of songs with her (most of which went unreleased), but out of all the english vbs she has my favorite voice and i feel like she has a lot of redeeming qualities.

The infamous Skype sound in her recordings that people always complain about isn't even a skype sound but loud reverb (she was likely recorded in some sort of house rather than a professional studio).

btw >>77 is done I was thinking of either making a music video or scheduling the single for release.

 No.275

There's a lack of prods here. 8chan's /miku/ had some but that place died with alongside 8chan.

 No.398

Sonikabros I'm still here. I deleted the previous song because it was garbage but i'm working on a new one. Here's a sneak peek: https://files.catbox.moe/y2rr05.mp3

I'm satisfied with the result so far so i might even have a music video for it done once it's finished

 No.407

Song's done. I intend on releasing it along with a music video. In the meantime i made a bluesky account to keep in touch with other people in the community.

I keep messing about with voicevox zundamon but I still haven't made anything…
also, I wish the software integrated with my DAW at all lol
would kill for rewire support or a vst that hosts it or something

it is pretty easy to use at least and zundamon sounds so cute
but I'm already not doing enough musically

I'd love to have a general on this site similar to /mu/ (4chan's not ours)'s /prod/.
>>78
I love this! even as someone who used to find most English Vocaloid music unlistenable
>>398
Love this one even more, reminds me of old Japanese vocasongs. I'm learning AviUtl and totally wouldn't mind making PVs for you (or others here) once I'm good.

>I'd love to have a general on this site similar to /mu/ (4chan's not ours)'s /prod/.
I guess this counts as a production general
>reminds me of old Japanese vocasongs
That was intentional, I even used the same synth from two faced lovers.
>wouldn't mind making PVs for you
Someone I know will be making the MV for that song you just heard but I'm open for something like that in the future, shoot me a DM on Bluesky if you have an account there: >>407

ive been fiddling around with synthv with eventual goal of putting lyrics to my songs using teto! but its been a gradual process and ive only been fooling around with the demo because synthv is too expensive at the moment and im too broke. Is there any way to set the piano roll to a certain scale?

>Zundamon has an English voicebank? that sounds fun. I wanted to try voicevox as well because Nurse Robot
nope lol, no English voicebank sadly, Japanese only (but it its capital-F free - the bank is free as in beer, the software is free as in FREEDOM)
you could do the katakanaized English route, I guess; it doesn't sound amazing but it's also not that bad
but my song is in Toki Pona since the phonemes line up really closely to Japanese

this is what I have so far, it's only like one pattern of music…
https://files.catbox.moe/75m0qb.mp3

this took an unreasonable time to make because I restarted like 5 times and while I don't think I'm going to restart, I don't know how I should continue it either and I know I did want to make something cutesier lol
maybe I'll try tomorrow to do more

…decided to keep going tonight while I had momentum, lol
https://files.catbox.moe/4oqj7h.mp3

I do wish I was clever enough to write lyrics that weren't basically "I have no idea what to write" and even if some of this is self-inflicted, I don't feel like I'd be writing more clever lyrics in eigo
like,
>mi sona ala e ni tan pakala mi; taso mi kalama e ni:
translates badly but it's
>I don't know this because I screwed up, but I'm singing this:
which loops back into itself, the second ni starts a continuation phrase against the start of it because I'm trying to be clever but I am also feeling incredibly un-clever at the same time.

I kinda wish I knew how to get the speech portion to sound better with this, I wish I had more pitch control with it, since I added straight speaking bits. I could probably edit it in post, which I'm already doing since the program doesn't like the fact that "a" in Toki Pona is a separate single word sound and it either makes a giant gap or tries to blend it against the surrounding words depending on how I try and fix it.

definitely did forget how much I liked making music though, I really needed to get back into this

I'm leaving the full song here. The person in charge of making the music video never got back to me and I have less than a dollar in my pocket to commission another artist to make it. On top of that I don't really have fun composing songs in this style so its best to leave it as an unreleased track. If you want to upload this on youtube or something go ahead I'll allow it. Sorry for disappointing you sonikabros. I promise I'll make more sonika songs in the future, perhaps under a different alias.
https://files.catbox.moe/9tjwnl.wav

unimportant details: gumi sings the lower vocals, the song's called "i will sing for you". i lost the txt file with the lyrics.

 No.805

These fake Mesmerizer lost media videos have been popping up in my recommended for a while now and while I love the overall art style of them it was driving me nuts that not a single one of them got the musical style of 2010s Vocaloid right or would use KAFU (who didn't exist in the early 2010's) as Neru's voice so I tried my best here by listening to a lot of OwataP, LamazeP & other producers from that era.

To be honest whenever i see something "silly" from the english side of the fandom it always comes off as a bit tryhardy. Rot For Clout comes to mind right now, although i will admit the song is very good production-wise. But don't let that discourage you it's probably the fact that i don't know Japanese that makes me not appreciate English lyrics as much.

Anyone know if VOCALOID2 can run well on Windows 10 + if it comes with the editor or not? I heard either Miku V2 or all V2 banks come with the editor and Sonika still seems to be available for sale here: https://zero-g.co.uk/products/sonika-vocaloid-2, along with being cheap for a Vocaloid and EXTREMELY cheap for a VST/VST plugin ($60 w/o tax!)

The best EN stuff is usually hidden because it doesn't have an attractive art style or because not much people care for EN songs. While the majority of the WVF is harassing Japanese producers and artists and preaching about morality, there's a few producers out there making good stuff. If you wanna find good EN songs just search your favorite loid on youtube and filter by upload date.

This is so embarassing but I’ve had FL Studio for probably over half a decade at this point yet have never made anything longer than 15–45 seconds, any tips? How did you all learn to go from loops to finished songs?

I bought a MIDI keyboard a while ago (and 2 of the keys are broken, rip) and it has drumpads (and all of them work unlike the keys luckily,) I don’t have money for piano lessons right now though orz. I have Melodics as well but not enough money for the subscription which means I’m limited to 5 minutes a day. Youtube tutorials seem to be of little help.

It goes on way too long and I can't figure out what to do vocally. The song is intended for a male character I based on Miki 7 years ago, but Hayden and Kevin are both fitting voice-wise and I'm leaning towards Hayden. I feel a bit bad because I also have a lot of rarely-used VBs including Miki V2, but this probably not going to fit any of them and I'm tired of my originals capping at 500 views as much as I'm scared of what popularity may bring.

This question is for those of you who have your music up on Spotify, iTunes, etc. What distributor do you use?

I've heard bad things about Distrokid, Antijoy, etc. Back in the day I would use Amuse (which is now paid) and Routenote which is free. Amuse was alright but they wouldn't let me submit very short songs such as album interludes. With Routenote I remember they wanted me to make useless changes to my cover artwork, for example I remember one of my singles had an album cover with noise and they rejected it based on that alone. Any suggestions?.

Been rec'd a distributor called CDBaby but from what I understand you gotta pay 10 dollars per single/album which means if I were to upload a single it'd cost 10 then if I drop the album it's 10 more, making it 20 dollars, which is lame. I'd rather pay 10 dollars yearly with the ability to cancel my subscription or something.

Don't use any Western ones right now. CDBaby, since they are heavily against AI and want nothing on it, even if it's a Vocal synth.

I haven't been able to get too much out of her, especially since she's been going through some shit, but I've been talking to Takoyaki since she gave a warning on Twitter. She's been writing an article, but to summarize everything we've discussed, Western distributors started using AI Vocal detection services. Some services might be okay with vocal synths, but because of these new detection services, it will take up more time, effort, and money just to distribute using a Western service.

For options, she said there were 2: either we all start transitioning to Japanese distribution services as long as they take non-JP bank info or PayPal, or an existing or new western distribution service starts making partnerships with vocal synth companies to make distribution more accessible for us. Especially since some companies only allow commercial use of their products through specific services.

The only one I know of that works for us is Big Up, and they are free, but hard to use. We're kinda screwed otherwise though.

Thanks.

I didn't sample POWER if that's what you're thinking, I just used the same drum loop.

That sucks major ass, especially when I have people telling me to put my music up on Spotify. I'll look into Big Up.

The English is so bad that I don't really understand what they're asking for here. Right now I only make music with Kasane Teto who apparently can't be featured(?), and I plan on using Sonika in the future, who isn't listed here. Any clue?.

The english is literally just google translate. If you run google translate on the site you get the same results. It's broken but what it's saying is you can only put Teto on as a featuring artist and not the sole artist. It's confusing.

Takoyaki Donuts. Smaller Western producer, but she also runs a blog I follow for vocal synth news. She's quite knowledgeable and has a small handful of industry contacts on the JP side.

What about Distrokid? I've seen some Vocaloid albums uploaded under it. I also doubt they would be able to detect Synth V stuff as "AI".

Was tuned out, DistroKid seems to be on the safer end of things atm however they do still scan and detect even SynthV AI as AI. Their terms are more lenient and in favour but also they can still 100% pose the same issues as other distributors if they do deem it.

Honestly the whole mess would be easily avoided if someone started a distributor specifically for overseas Vocaloid producers, make life significantly easier for everyone. Closest thing we got so far is that one new streaming platform project but that’s a single platform and they don’t distribute to others from the looks of things.

What do I do if I have a very strong idea of what I want lyrically & visually for a song but cannot come up with a melody? Every time I look at FL Studio I feel like my head is gonna explode. This isn't a "first original" situation but my ideas either come together within 72 hours or I can't string a competent melody together no matter how hard I try.

I'm the complete opposite. I'm good with melodies but cannot come up with lyrics.

I'm also voting a solid maybe. My lyrics are best when they're personal or otherwise mean a lot to me, which can be detrimental to collabs. I also really enjoy doing English with Japanese Vocaloids and always enjoy doing that, whether it be for covers or originals.

Producer anons do you have any experience with the distribution service CDBaby? I recently paid to have my single there but it still hasn't been delivered

Also if you're wondering I've tried Big Up already but they didn't want my music there for having the word "fuck" in it apparently. They kept telling me to correct stuff that had already been corrected before. Plus navigating a site in broken english is hard and it doesn't seem they support Vocaloids that aren't mainstream like Sonika.
