>>6723Eh, he's arguably the least annoying person I've seen on the western side of the community. The fact that he has adapted to this site's culture instead of bitching about it and trying to get it shut down gives me the impression that he's a chill dude.

>>6726I mean 39chan was quite literally made as a drama-free alternative to the /jp/ threads on 4chan and originally had a "fuck off if you come from other sites" attitude so people from vocatwt have to adapt and not start shit if they wanna be here. I don't know who this Majin guy is but if he isn't being annoying I welcome him. Besides we've sort of been in the public eye since the Q&A with Ritsu's voice provider, a few western producers use the site now.

So many Vocaloid producers said they felt “married” to Miku during the 20th anniversary celebration and Syudou says he only uses Miku because using anyone else feels like cheating (the Kafu songs could have been commissions and I can’t recall him using any other Vocaloids. This might be the source:
https://x.com/tikandame/status/1364143787535073285)
I’m pretty sure it’s the norm in the Eastern side of the fandom. It explains why 90% of songs are Miku and the only male Vocaloid people really care about is Len. (Don’t mean this in a negative way) LamazeP also had a breakdown over Akihiko Kondo and decided to marry Una instead, but that’s probably less suprising as he’s more open with his waifuism. He also regularly thirsted after Teto as GojimajiP. Giga and Reol are also some obvious shotacon husbandofags.
Satsuki ga Tenkomori is another one that doesn’t get mentioned often, he’s an open shotacon and Ton Ton Mae even is an oneeshota song.

Is it me or the best western producers are the ones that don't get any recognition
No.7887
>>7886100%
They're the most creative too when it comes to musical styles
No.7890
>>7886I agree! Although, there's usually numerous reasons for them to lack popularity, ranging from using wholoids, to just not getting traction from YouTube's terrible algorithm, to not uploading much, to (unfortunately) /g/-tier off topic bad behavior. I'd wager most Sonika producers are the first two categories.
No.7891
>>7890Nah, in the WVF if you want to get big you gotta promote your music on socials and pray that someone who's relatively popular like Majin or a big western producer like Mono finds your work and reposts it. The music using wholoids has nothing to do with popularity considering how big Vimalion loids have gotten recently and the fact that a song using POPY was charting not long ago.
No.7892
>>7891Good point, the most common person I see promoting songs is Vane Lily and other people from that general producer circle (Rice, Jamie Page, occasionally R.I.P, Weevildoing, and Carbon Monoxide). Songs that group does not promote have a much higher chance of flopping unless you're using SynthV or Miku.
No.7893
I'd say it depends on more than just self promotion. I would not call my recent Teto song popular but I did notice that it's been doing numbers. I've also noticed that the YouTube algo seems to really like it, putting it in people's Vocaloid related mixes. And it seems to have been reposted on other sites like Reddit and VocaDB as well. That can help boosting its views.
One thing I notice often is that a lot of producers tend to publish songs with little to no experience and it's easy to spot that they're just getting started. For example there was a Vocaloid song I listened to recently where the mixing was poor and I could tell that they were using the default FL Studio drums. Again, this is not a bad thing: you're just getting started and we all gotta start somewhere. But the more notable your lack of experience is the more likely your song is to flop.
Ultimately I think the first song you ever compose regardless of whether it uses Vocaloid or not is bound to suck because you're just getting started. I've been making music since 2016 and have played in bands so while I'm not entirely proud of my music (I've grown to hate "A letter from..." admittedly, hence why my style has been transitioning into this shoegaze/trip hop thing recently) I at least have a grasp on all that stuff.
Catchy choruses and memorable music videos help a ton too but I haven't bothered with the latter yet.
No.7894
>>7893you should promote other people's music too
No.7897
>>7894I do not consider myself a big producer so I don't think I have much of an impact, but I do repost new songs made by producer friends or unpopular stuff that I hear and like.
Hopefully that changes eventually. I feel like I've got something new to bring to the table and if it succeeds I plan to shed light on smaller producers. I have faith in the western Vocaloid scene.
No.7899
>>7893Yeah, I made a pretty...messily mixed song with Piko last year that got about 600 views. I've been making originals since 2019 (and fucking with FL Studio since 2018) but I've been a bit slow at learning it due to repeated burnouts and discovering I love tuning more than anything, leading to mostly covers being made.
I know I suck at music but it's more about the love of the process for me.

>>7894Honestly, it's better to leave promoting others to the song promo accounts.
Admittedly, they are losing a bit of traction these days, but unless you have a huge following and the ability to easily promote others' music, it's really only practical to promote your own and maybe your friends.
The western community needs so many things tbh, we're just lacking a lot.

>>7978Interesting that they'd still let you keep your copy of UNI V1. I don't use SV so I thought they had an auto-update feature like Steam and they could patch the voicebank that way.
No.7987
>>7985It still lets you use any old versions you have installed, so there's not much they could do short of bringing in Dreamtonics
No.7988
>>7985They could do that in theory basically disabling it from your account, but it would put ST Media already in a worst spot than they already are. ST Media wouldn't be able to easily deal with so many customers demanding refunds because they can't use the product they purchased anymore and it would be anti-consumer to just keep people who haven't violated the terms of service to just up and take it away.
It's important to keep in mind this could still change. It's not the final decision from the court after all, there's still the main proceedings.
