Let's have a thread for Rei. Not the A.I. Voice or UTAU voicebanks but the actual robot that Missile is creating.

I do hope Missile39 has improved in his skills since the Miku bot he made. She felt too much just like a simple animatronic. I'm only noticing small things that seem to be done better with Rei, nothing major yet.
No.17741
>>17739It's difficult to make a humanoid bipedal robot especially at the height Rei is raising her centre of gravity. I figured a way around it quite a while back though. The trick is use the bird walk a lot of robots use but do it using the ankles then you don't need backwards bending knees. So in other words forefoot walking. Rei can't do this even if she were programmed to because the lack of proper foot flexibility. Your gif from MaSiRo Project they don't even walk they are on wheels hidden under their dresses. Of course there are ways to cheat at this such as using a walking staff for a third leg support. Also giving wider hips for a wider foot stance would provide more side to side support. There is also the whole thing where robots tend to be extremely noisy even for small movements from their actuators since most are noisy.

>>18457No, I just have very minimal experience in programming and as little in electronics where my soldering skills suck and have had enough interest in robotics I researched how I would do it if I could have the money, time and focus to learn. Basically the better choice for anything interacting with a human is soft robotics or some kind of hybrid.

No.26329

Imagine if Rei could actually move
No.26391
>>26379It can be done by an individual without being rich but most are made more like 152 cm tall at most to reduce surface area parts. It is not much worse coat wise than figure collecting I imagine but depends on design choices.
>>26384Looking at her design and what I gathered from my curiosity on robotics she wont likely be able to walk unsupported since i consider trying. She is relatively tall, thin and looks top heavy which would complicate everything. Had he given her wider hips that would have helped some or maybe an internal gyroscopic balancer which is uncommon in robots with legs i assume. So poor Rei will be wheelchair bound and strung up on support wires. She also is noisy moving because the actuators. It is easier to do bird legged bipedal which is more the norm in robots.
No.26397

>>26391ever heard of wheeled / vacuum bases? But yes, with current electric motors, cooling solutions, and if
>>3231 is accurate, I don't think that unsupported walking is very feasible for the current iteration of Rei. I believe her legs could withstand her weight otherwise.
>internal gyroscopic balancer which is uncommon in robots with legs i assume.Inertial measurement units are very common in robots, and even more in humanoids. They are relatvely cheap and offer very good and fast feedback. In combination with force feedback on individual joints it's possible to balance almost anything. How well it would balance in reality depends on the robot's center of mass, motor position, their immediate maximal torque, and control latency. Rei's motors look absolutely tiny to what they ought to move.
>>26379You can go and buy yourself a fully prebuilt walking overkill Chinese humanoid robot for $21k after tax. Definitely not cheap but not more expensive than collecting cars or dressing up dolls.
>>26392>inb4 wheelchair rei fanarthear me out: she's in a wheelchair but can spread her legs and be lift-hugged with her legs wrapping around the partner
No.26399
>>26397>ever heard of wheeled / vacuum bases? Yeah but it feels totally different from walking. Kind of a cheat.
>cooling solutionsThere was a team in Japan that built a sweating robot as a cooling system which is interesting approach
>Rei's motors look absolutely tiny to what they ought to move. They seem not very strong. If I was making a robot I would go for electro reactive materials that imitate muscles or use a rope system.
>Inertial measurement units are very common in robots, and even more in humanoidsI meant a device that spins to create stability. It usually is more done on wheels so I am not sure how much it would help.
