Anons... I'm excited about the QnA in a few days. I expected the first guest to be a random small western producer, or at the very least some small JP producer who hasn't had a song in SEKAI.
But it ended up being the voice provider for Ritsu. I thought 39chan was still too small to have such a big name as the first QnA guest.

Interesting that the Ui Ojisan song has been getting a hate on the Japanese side of the fandom.
Although in this case it doesn't seem to be based on the content on the lyrics but rather the fact that they see it as trend-chasing and "created to go viral on TikTok and Youtube". One of them said "Why do Mimukauwa and Zaako get praise but this crosses the line?".
Very interesting considering it's usually the gaijins that are annoying about this stuff.

It was popular enough to have concerts by 2009, but I'd argue that today it's a lot more popular thanks to Project Sekai and the various songs that became popular at the beginning of the decade. The songs from back then: Meltdown, Rolling Girl, World is Mine, etc. I don't think they were being made to go viral as they don't have the elements we constantly see in modern Vocaloid songs.

The Q&A had me thinking about how different it seems to be a JP-side vocaloid fan vs. EN-side. I think a lot of us expect ourselves to be listeners, illustrators, vocalists, and voice configurers all in one since we have this feeling of needing to build a creative EN community from scratch. On the other hand I was blown away by the level of unique activity in the original Ritsu creation thread even in the pre-2012 era. It seems more OK in that situation to not cover all fandom niches, although there are some exceptions.
It makes me feel even more strongly that the core reason why the EN side is less creatively productive isn’t for lack of effort or enthusiasm, just that those pieces aren’t coordinated. To me that’s part of why websites like this are so valuable.
Also we should all record in the nude.
No.6322
>>6321There have been English Vocaloid forums before 39chan like Vocaloid Otaku, Vocaloidism, Vocaverse, etc. I'm not a new gen but never engaged with the community until the 2020's so I'm curious if anything similar to the VIPPERLOIDs has come out of them before. Or are we the first to have anything remotely similar to them?.
No.6323
>>6322Not to my knowledge. Although it’s mostly individually-produced UTAU, I’d count utaforum as a pretty good community and notable resource.. there’s a reason why westerners make so many utau covers.
As I recall, some of vocaverse’s most active discussion topics is new voicebank releases, and that could have contributed to VB releases/variety as a relatively high priority for EN fans as well
No.6324

>>6321To be fair though, 39chan is probably the first site of its kind. I don't think anyone has thought to make a 100% Vocaloid themed imageboard. There was iichan in the 2000's which had both UTAU and Vocaloid boards but it wasn't like this site at all. I would say it was closer to the /jp/ threads from back then (not the current ones).
Either way I do love that this site thrives on original content. I have not seen this much OC come out of an imageboard since pre-Hiro 4chan.

That said, Lily originals as well as covers are extra rare. You'd expect her to be used more since vocal wise she's very similar to Piko and can probably be used in place of him for legaloids or producers looking to monetize their work. Unfortunately, I think it'd take a song with her gaining traction before anyone really notices her again.

I thought up a bunch of VSynth's potential favorite games. In order of how they came to me:
>Yi Xi
Rimworld. Probably self-explanatory, but she'd really love making cannibal colonies with Ideology.
>Namine Ritsu
Either Hearts of Iron 4 or also Rimworld. Except, instead of a cannibal colony, he'd probably prefer raiding his neighbors until he conquers the entire planet or dies trying.
>Yohioloid
Either CS:GO, Modern Warfare 3, or Team Fortress 2. If he's playing TF2 he's absolutely botting.
>Sonika
Jet Set Radio Future. Also probably the original and maybe even Kirby.
>Len
Fortnite
>Rin
Probably Splatoon
>Miku
Project Diva seems obvious, however I can just as easily see her really liking Beat Saber
>Ryuto/Gachapoid
My heart tells me Minecraft.
>Lily
Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines. She'd like Jeanette
>Flower
Also VtMB, but she'd prefer Damsel
>Fukase
FNAF, probably Sister Location
>Leon
I think it'd be funny if he really liked Space Cadet Pinball of all things
>Meiko
Sims 3, she'd make her Sim get drunk at dive bars every night.
>Ruko
Cyberpunk, if not Cyberpunk then Baldur's Gate. She likes RPGs with nice character creation.
>Kaito
FFXIV. Something tells me he and Gakupo really like the Balmung Quicksands. Plays a Midlander
>Gakupo
FFXIV as well. Plays a Viera
>Miriam
ESO grandma, owns a guild and regularly interacts with it after retirement. Probably made an addon or two.
>Sukone Tei
I can see her liking Among Us. She's a terrible impostor. If Len is playing, she will never kill him, but targets players around him. If there's multiple impostors, she will rat them if they kill Len.
>Big Al and Sweet Ann
Both love New Vegas, especially the atmosphere of it. Big Al in particular is really fond of it.
