Does anybody have any archives from when Teto SV was released and the time period in which Mesmerizer really took off?
I know 39chan itself was created just a few months after Mesmerizer released so sadly there's no archive of that but i guess the discussions about its repercussions will give people from the future an insight into what people thought of them in 2025 (>>1585)

No.14111
>>13971Those are strong words, maybe she was one of the most flexible but I was never that thrilled to see her in another Jin song.. might be biased since I associate her with the ~2012 drop in popularity of vocaloid mascot characters vs. OCs.
No.14113
>>14111The OC stuff was less common in the early 2010s tho
No.14118
>>14111IA enjoyed a small window of the mascot era. Some of her early songs (like 2012-2014) feature her in the PV. In some cases she's even formed as the basis for the OC like in Heisei Project and Six Trillion Years, something like the Evillious Chronicles.
The real drop was around 2015 which was brought up by an utaite lamenting this in a video (Coleena summarized the whole thing here:
https://papercoleena.tumblr.com/post/123558413480). Nanahoshi Orchestra actually made a song in reference to that utaite's sentiment.
To associate her with the decline is a bit unfair, granted Kagerou Project was one of the major reasons for the decline in mascot culture, but she was simply caught in the crossfire. The fact that 1st Place tries really hard nowadays to market a character for her makes it seem like the whole thing was an accident and they're trying to recover from it.

No.20880
>>20867Obviously the concern is overstated but this wasn't an entirely uncommon perspective. Arguably much of the reason Vocaloid exited its "golden age" around 2013-2014 is because sentiment like this boiled over to the point of being self-fulfilling. Bandwagoners attached themselves Vocaloid, it stopped being trendy, and interest trailed off. It's worth keeping this in mind for any cultural trend that appears to have unstoppable momentum online.

No.20923
>>20922I disagree, i feel like pirate producers will become more respected in the community (the Western one at least, because Japan hates them) due to AIbros. Pirate producers might not pay for Vocaloid but they at least make covers and originals. AIbros just put draw a Miku face on their turd and go "Yeah this is a vocaloid song". Not to mention they're completely blacklisted from sites like VocaDB and if you're caught using shit like Suno your career is over.

>>21221>early hitsI mean, what do you expect? The old songs are still popular even with the newgens. It's the same thing that happens with 90s bands that fill their setlists with all their 90s singles. People consider them timeless classics.
But i get your point, I think there's a couple songs I'd consider classics from this era but ironically none of them involve the cryptonloids outside of Miku (and even then they're usually duets).

>>21246It's really fun, in my experience. The more intimate scale instead of sitting in a dome fish bowl or a multi-floor arena is like getting a little bit of Mikufes or early Mikupa flavor. Half the fun of these events are doing the calls and it's better to have a crowd that knows them well instead of a large crowd that knows them somewhat or not at all.
No.21256
>>21253Did you go to Teto Live? (The actual concert not the DJ event). I saw footage of it and the room looked very small and crowded, which is usually uncomfortable.
No.21259
>>21256I was, though I was also at Teto Sonic. Japan lives aren't really made for comfort to begin with so I don't really pay much mind to more than view angles and sound, and if the drink tickets are rip-off (some have started charging extra for more than water). Duo Music Exchange is definitely small and not usually used for idol style performances, big floor columns as well. The junkiness is sort of why I forge the comparison to Mikufes at all even though Studio Coast was a much nicer venue (RIP), but what I really appreciated most about Teto Live was that the band had equal presence to Teto.
You'll probably find this year's more agreeable. Zepp Shinjuku is actually one of the better Zepps in terms of sound staging and has kusoed floors, so it's not total flatlands at usual junk like Makuhari. Just sort of a bog standard box. The fact that they did move up to a Zepp though means they must have been really confident about attendance.
