chii tomero (地位トメロ) was the first UTAUloid that was created outside of japan, and also the first american UTAUloid. legendmaker12, also known as gregory austin, created and voiced him, and nowadays he is the president of vocatone! he's actively working on the upcoming singing synthesizer maghni AI.

DAY TWO:
did you know that back in 2018 we were supposed to get a trilingual VOCALOID named zing? this character originally came from a mobile rhythm game called zion. she was originally announced in 2017, but we didn't got much from her after it. she would have been capable of singing in mandarin, japanese and english.

this cancelled voicebank is known for having a fake demo song sung poorly by an anonymous person, which lead to people thinking she was a hoax. and to make it even crazier, the last post on her character twitter account was an april fool's joke saying she would have an AV debut soon.

as of today, zion's game server provider got bankrupt in 2020, which caused the game to close its doors. it is very unlikely there's a chance about releasing zing as a vocaloid/vsynth to this day

known UTAUloid ryone yami was initially based on the obscure 4chan meme "ecstasy A.K.A. darks", their previous name was also known as zetsuchoukan yami. you could say their initial concept was a yaoified meme. people don't do any yaoificated memes for UTAUloids nowadays

turning existing characters into a vocaloid parody was common at the time. one example that inspired several derivative characters or parodies was kazune miku (和音ミク), a parody of kamichama karin's character kujou kazune. this parody was created by the author of the manga herself, koge donbo.

There's a collection of albums under the name MUSIC✕STUDY PROJECT published by Gakken Plus which is basically a bunch of songs for Japanese students to listen and study to. Each album has its own theme, may it be Japanese history, world history, science, etc. All the songs are genuinely masterpieces and I implore anons to listen to them. ボカロで覚える高校世界史 is the best album of them all in my opinion. Oh shit someone else knows about this! There's a song by とあ that's just about the post-Napoleonic period up to the First World War. As a massive fan of とあ and a history buff, it was surprisingly enjoyable. (plus there's this song https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TMUwzEzTdYk for Japanese students studying English which is really cute)

Also, there's a song by ELECTROCUTICA that covers the European culture through the classical period to the Renaissance which still has that classic ELECTROCUTICA feel to it.

The entirety of that project is just amazing.

considering she would be conceptualized by the same project as erusalem, it seems she would be related to her. erusalem was one of the latest VIPPERloids that were released, and she would be one made for the act of raising awareness to conflicts in the middle east.

The video actually used to just say "Miku English" early on. It was changed to say "Vocaloid 3" after the subsequent release and reveal.

I wouldn't say it's necessarily incorrect as everything from the V2 beta was moved to her V3 bank, but ya, the uploader changed the video title early on.

I remember seeing this video all those years ago and being excited. Miku V3 English still remains my favourite of her 2 English banks. Her darker tone is just so lovely. I would have loved to have played around with the V2 beta if it was ever made public back then.

speaking of extracted samples, did you know MAYU's samples were word-based? while most vocaloids have samples similar to those of an UTAU CVVC reclist (although thinly spliced), MAYU's samples were based in words and phrases, such as "ohayo", for example.

She’s average JP bank size. So under a gig. Chinese and English banks I’m pretty sure are the biggest.

As much as the samples are words rather than individual sounds/phonetics, the difference really was just the recording method. As long as you’re able to get all the necessary sounds need it, you can still chop it up and configure it.

It’s a little more common to see this with English banks since the sounds necessary for Japanese are much simpler.

I would be willing to say that any Crypton owned voicebank outside of MeiKai and the CV series is dead. There's no way they'd make something new, right?.

 No.15910

>>15883
I wouldn’t say never. I do see them eventually creating a new bank but under 2 conditions; to add something fresh to the current cast of characters that isn’t just a new design and after all of the current cast at the very least has been released on NT.

Even so with those conditions in mind there’s still others to kind of think about. I don’t think project if would ever come back for example and CV04, assuming the likely case it was voiced by Yuki Kaji previously, if worked on again would need to restart from scratch. Essentially these projects if they came back would not have the same identity to put it short.

So not impossible but I don’t think we’ll see anything new-new for at least a good few years.
