Supposedly there was an actual error with Maika’s sales. Idk if they had ran out of stock briefly or if something else happened, but Yamaha had to take down the page so she wouldn’t keep selling until it was fixed.
All I can say was I was told if she went down, that was it, and as result I called it too quickly too. As funny as it was, it was really just a perfect storm for panic.

Iirc Maika’s been used under the name Chloe(?) in Voicemod.
Much of the information about the engine itself has since gone unarchived following the acquisition. Of course with that information you can tell why Voicemod acquired the company in the first place.

Last I checked there’s still voicemod’s own demo but I’m not sure if that since changed. I’m not sure if the old voiceful demos work but I do believe archives of voctro’s old site and pages relating to voiceful exist via wayback machine. You can also just listen to any old ditty.it video that exists as well since it uses the engine. Not sure of the vb used tho.

One major complaint i remember about the Spanish vocaloids back in the day was that they all had European Spanish accents. To Spanish speakers the difference between European Spanish and Latin American Spanish is a bit similar to American English and British English. So imagine if all the English Vocaloids had British accents, it'd be something like that. In fact, I think one of the reasons LUAN and LUCIA were never released (aside from companies not wanting to pick them up) was because people bitched about the accent.
