Japan has Miku. China has Tianyi. Korea has SeeU. What do we have??.

>>17959Sonika was meant to be that but CircusP was the only person who cared about her
No.17964
>>17959I don't think that's the case sadly. Oliver was more popular, although not enough for him to be seen as the face of EN vocaloids.

No.17978
>>17968I feel like Maika was more popular among the English community as weird as that sounds. They used her more than the Spanish.
No.18001
I don't think the EN community has a defining Vocaloid at all. Sonika was marketed as such but failed miserably and ZG gave up after V4's cancellation. Oliver was certainly popular with the fujos but by the early 2020's half of the community had forgotten about him (although Maghni AI could change this). The Synth Vs are all wholoids even if they have one or two popular songs, not to mention their designs which don't typically appeal to the average Vocaloid weeb.
No.18002
>>18001There was also Fukase but he looks like he was designed in a lab to appeal to the Tumblr Danganronpa fans of that era, even back then people mocked his design. Also, his terms and conditions.
No.18003
>>18001I'm shocked there aren't more vocaloids marketed to fujos given the success of relatively mid voicebanks like Oliver and Fukase.
No.18004
>>18003The type of fujo those characters were made for kinda doesn't exist anymore
No.18005
>>18004This pretty much. The only characters I see being marketed to fujos these days are from Audiologie.
No.18007
Fukase was made for the Tumblr fujos and Oliver was literally based on Ciel Phantomhive so you can guess the type of fan he was made for.

No.18055
>>18045She's just a Japanese voicebank that has English support but yeah i guess SV Teto sort of is the closest thing we have to that
No.18061
>>18045>>18055GUMI was the go to for English before Teto SV since she sounds most natural pronunciation. I think Oliver had been the most popular English only VB but seems he's not used these days.
No.18064
>>18061Oliver was perfect. He had a moe art style and a very mascot like design.
No.18070
>>18004I refuse to believe this
>>18061>>18064His design is very strong, but his voice isn’t flexible enough to be used across genres. Very soft and niche voice. That he had a fanbase anyway is a testament to how good the design is.
I didn’t like Fukase but you could say the same thing about his terms of service.
No.18071
>>18004They very do much exist, it’s just that they get a lot of pushback that they either hide it or stick to their own groups. Kinda like how Len thirsting was out in the open a decade ago, but now if someone were to do so people would reply with “he’s 14”
No.18072
>>18070That's true. Might be part of why Oliver songs stopped popping up because it would have stagnated.
No.18073
>>18071I don’t know, I don’t think a shota is needed to appeal to fujos. To me the biggest gap is in the ikemen space. The ones we have just aren’t that strong or don’t lean into it that much.
No.18074
>>18073I don't think there's a lack of ikemen voicebanks nowadays, but the audience for male voicebanks in general is seriously lagging behind. People aren't using them as much now that the average casual fan thinks Vocaloid = anime girls.
Then again, I'm saying this after Nilfruits picked up an ikemen for the first time
No.18075
>>18074Maybe there needs to be more cutesy male voices?
No.18076
>>18075We did get one this year but it's on an engine no one uses. Kazehiki also exists but I'm not sure why he's so unpopular, his design is great.
No.18078
>>18077I'd say there's still demand for bishounen type characters since I saw people being excited for Hitsuji Mio when he was announced. But at the same time it's like they ignore them once they actually come out. I doubt anyone in the WVF is going to care about Hitsuji Mio when he releases.
No.18080
>>18073I agree with that, I was just saying that there are still plenty of fujos who gravitate towards shota or “shota-like” characters, but it’s more frowned upon by the community (and nowadays what constitutes shota completely depends on who you’re talking to). The only recent character that I’ve seen appeal to fujos is Frimomen but he has quite a bit of fudanshi fans too.
No.18081
>>18080I dont think these virtue signalers really are part of the community, it's just result of social media algorithms making even the most niche thing mainstream exposed and stir up drama from nothing.
