So... low-pitched Rin or high-pitched Miku for Neru?

 No.14132

Low pitch Kafu

 No.14140

Used to prefer low-pitch Rin, but can't imagine her as anything other than high-pitched Miku now since the only new neru exposure I got for years was OwataP.

 No.14142

I think low pitched Rin suits her more than high pitched Miku considering she's grumpy and a bit of a hothead

 No.17497

Given that I dislike Mesmerizer, I'm surprised that if this version came on, I wouldn't turn it off. Maybe it doesn't count as vocal-synth, but cellphone beeps as Neru's "voice" always felt right to me. I wonder if the beeps could be integrated in a way that she could sing while still sounding like a phone, perhaps by recording a voice coming out of a phone speaker while mixing in some dial tones.

I had always wished that she got a voice of her own. She could have been the first Adachi Rei but with dial tones. Perhaps being a pitchloid makes more sense to keep the connection with Miku clearer though. Smith Hioka-san if you ever see this please respond if you had considered this before.

This might not be the answer you were hoping for, but until very recently, I felt that I didn't have the authority to decide anything regarding Akita Neru's voice.

To begin with, even though her outfit is based on Hatsune Miku, I didn't intend to create a "Vocaloid" (vocal synth) character at the time. I considered her to be more of a "gijinka" (personification) character.

Later, when people started using pitch manipulation to give her a voice, I decided it was best to leave that to the creators' imagination, so I avoided commenting on it myself.
Above all, as the person who drew her, I honestly didn't have a concrete image of what her voice should sound like.
So, for me, whether it was a "pitchloid" voice or the dial tones heard in "Triple Baka," I saw them both as valid ways to express Neru. I didn't see one as superior to the other.

I am, of course, conscious of her connection to Miku, but I never felt her voice had to be based on Miku's. This is because Akita Neru is treated strictly as a visual work (in legal terms, an "artistic work").

Sorry for the long reply, but to answer your question about whether I had considered a mechanical voice concept: the answer is that I never actually had a plan to make her into a singing software in the first place.

 No.27595

Not that i'm aware of. Hioka has said this many times, but Neru was never meant to have a voice in the first place, she was intended as a gijinka/personification of the Miku censorship drama from back in the day. So he's never given her a "canon voice".

I'd say NEO is the first attempt at giving her an actual voice but even with Smith Hioka's approval it's still a non canon voice and fanmade on top of that.

If Neru were to appear in a game, I would know about it long before the official announcement.
Naturally, that is because for such a project to move forward officially, both CFM and I would need to agree to grant the license.

So for several months, or even more than a year, I would have to shut the curtains in my room, live in fear that someone might be listening in, suffer from nightmares every night, and spend my days in lonely silence...

Well, that part is a joke, but I would absolutely never leak anything to the outside.

If I truly had no idea that Neru was going to appear until it was announced to the public, that would be a “surprise” for me in a rather bad sense.
Basically, I do not reject offers that have cleared CFM’s standards, but even so, we would still need to confirm and discuss it as a procedural issue.

That said, even if something like that were to happen, I do not think it would turn into a public accusation or dispute. And very fortunately, no such trouble has ever happened so far.

As far as I know, one of the oldest Vocaloid producers was Masa-P. He was born in 1933—93 years ago.

To put 1933 into perspective, Adolf Hitler’s cabinet was formed in Germany at the end of January, Franklin D. Roosevelt was inaugurated as the 32nd president of the United States, and the original King Kong was released that same year.

He uploaded his first song, “Hana wa Kazarenai,” to Nico Nico Douga in 2012, when he was 79 years old.

He was a professional composer who had been active since the 1960s under the name Masao Saiki. His song “Nagasaki wa Kyō mo Ame Datta,” released in 1969, remains extremely well known among generations who remember that era.

You can listen to the song here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EKQfa2MpvOc

Sadly, he passed away in 2022, but the wonderful Vocaloid songs he left behind can still be heard today. You can listen to several of them in this YouTube playlist:

https://youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_m1i8lAEXNQDJ1Bmd8SRAaHBQDge2ETQwI

I recommend listening through all of them, but my personal favorites are “Yofuke no Lullaby,” “Kanashimi no Córdoba,” “Hana no Nai Heya,” and “Koi wa 1970.”

I knew that Vocaloid was popular with the newer generations but I never expected it to resonate with any generation before the Millennials.

There's a lot of unique sounding Vocaloid stuff that never seems to leave the depths of NicoNico or even YouTube. I wish there was a proper way to discover small producers aside from VocaDB and events like Vocacolle/Vocagathering.

We have threads for that but they've been kinda inactive as of late

Nendoroid have a Neru/Haku announcement for July 23. It's likely new figs but I'm hoping its related to Starry Party.

Why is Haku more expensive

 No.31488

>>31468
That Haku has optional bonus faceplates. They both have 2 listings, with and without the bonus.

 No.31493

>>31488
Those more expensive listings come with all the faces, but you can also just buy them directly, two at a time if you don't want them all here

I never knew there was official art outside of his DeviantArt. It's unbelievably cool, he has a really unique style. I'll go ahead and believe that Neru really does own a pug now.

Well Gelbooru just collects art people found on other sites so it makes sense for it to have much of his older work. Personally i'm pleased with how much Nero art there is.

I wonder if his 2channel artwork was ever archived. 4chan has its own archive sites run by users but Japan has different views regarding media preservation so i wonder if anything like that even exists.
