Know what? This thread made me curious about "newgens" on the Japanese side of the fandom. Are they treated the same as in the west?. I know that they at least have similar views on what we call "mesmerizerkuso" with some producers such as Atena mocking it and the Japanese side of Twitter having discussions about what constitutes kuso. Apparently Konton Boogie is one of those songs that's seen as "kuso" on the JP side of the fandom.

i also don't really mind the informative videos or video essays when the information they provide is correct given they do throw in some interesting facts here and there and they can be useful for newgen fans. my only real issue with them is when they spread blatant misinformation and/or force their opinion about a song they dislike in a video that has nothing to do with it
(cough) rabbit hole (cough) mimukawa nice try (cough) pretty much every song about death/murder (cough). producer bashing in general is fucking stupid and one of my biggest issues with the western vocaloid community in general.
as for suwawako, i don't hate him like most of the WVF seems to. the dude has /jp/ roots i believe, which i respect, but he clearly got into vocaloid after mesmerizer and it shows. he should continue making videos about things he does know about like touhou.

>>12670Im going to be real. I was never that big of a Vocaloid fan. I was more of a Touhou fan, so I saw Vocaloid stuff from time to time, and I even used UTAU before (Teto and Ritsu) just to try it out for my acoustic guitar covers. Vocaloid wasn't really my main focus until recently, when I started hearing SV Teto and got amazed by how she sounded. I also wasn't a big fan of the robotic, high-pitched sounds back then. And now i've become a fan by pretty much consuming newgen content and going down the rabbit hole that is this vocaloid scene
No.12674
>>12671I was already a fan in the early 2010's but it was in 2019 that it became my main obsession. Inabakumori pulled me back in with Lost Umbrella and I was just happy to hear Kaai Yuki in something that wasn't a horror song for once.

Not that there’s no purpose for native engloids. Solaria is a great example of what a popular native engloid can look like. I just think the niche is different, maybe more angled towards professional musicians. To me there’s no reason the flagship Vocaloid character in the English-speaking fandom needs to be a native english speaker.
