Know what? This thread made me curious about "newgens" on the Japanese side of the fandom. Are they treated the same as in the west?. I know that they at least have similar views on what we call "mesmerizerkuso" with some producers such as Atena mocking it and the Japanese side of Twitter having discussions about what constitutes kuso. Apparently Konton Boogie is one of those songs that's seen as "kuso" on the JP side of the fandom.

i personally don't care for them at all though every once in a while i'll use one of their vids as background noise.

i also don't really mind the informative videos or video essays when the information they provide is correct given they do throw in some interesting facts here and there and they can be useful for newgen fans. my only real issue with them is when they spread blatant misinformation and/or force their opinion about a song they dislike in a video that has nothing to do with it (cough) rabbit hole (cough) mimukawa nice try (cough) pretty much every song about death/murder (cough). producer bashing in general is fucking stupid and one of my biggest issues with the western vocaloid community in general.

as for suwawako, i don't hate him like most of the WVF seems to. the dude has /jp/ roots i believe, which i respect, but he clearly got into vocaloid after mesmerizer and it shows. he should continue making videos about things he does know about like touhou.

I guess my thought is that the JP characters that already reached memetic status in the west can be the “english Miku” once they have easy-to-use EN voicebanks. I think you could describe SV Teto as an english Miku. V6 Miku could really breach containment though.
Not that there’s no purpose for native engloids. Solaria is a great example of what a popular native engloid can look like. I just think the niche is different, maybe more angled towards professional musicians. To me there’s no reason the flagship Vocaloid character in the English-speaking fandom needs to be a native english speaker.

This is my issue with Tetofags. The majority do not care about UTAU, Vocaloid or Vocal Synth culture in general. They just like the red meme girl because its cool to like her. I'd be devastated if the same happened to Gumi.

This might have changed with V6 but I think it's Bruno and Clara, with Clara slightly less popular than Bruno. They got overshadowed hard by Maika, who actually uses a different reclist than them.

 No.12908

To be honest I’d like to see Rin/Len V6. Ideally with a tone more similar to their default V2 banks rather than Power appends.

 No.12916

>>12905
If you're from Spain or even Latin America the Voctro Labs vocaloids are well known. Obviously Maika is the most popular but Bruno and Clara were well received too.

I want Luka V6 but I know they'll find a way to fuck it up like they did V4 and SP

 No.12921

>>12917
V2 engine noise was doing some heavy lifting for Luka’s unique timbre. I wonder if they could re-introduce some of her thick low sound if they worked closely enough with Yamaha

 No.12922

>>12921
Miku v6 is probably trained on audios from the NT era so realistically they could make a Luka v6 that sounds like v2 by training her on audios from the v2 era. The result would be a smoother v2.
