As you may have noticed, 39chan has been offline for nearly two days. This decision was made following a series of threads, completely unaffiliated with us, that were mass-advertising 39chan on other sites. Initially, we chose to ignore this activity, but it continued to bring some of the least desirable users onto the site and bring more traffic than this site is meant to handle in the first place. That being said there are no plans to shut down 39chan forever, we'll continue listening to our users and making sure that this space can live long enough for this community you and I are part of to have a place to express themselves.
In response to community feedback, we have decided to implement several important changes and take additional measures to prevent unwanted users from posting. We will also be enforcing our moderation policies more strictly than before. Gossip and drama threads are now completely prohibited across the entire website, regardless of board; /g/ is no longer an exception. Existing threads regarding community drama or gossip will be completely wiped from the site if they still exist. If you see drama/gossip threads or posts, report them. Discussions regarding "tourists", "westoids", etc are also no longer allowed for the time being. If you don't like what you see on 39chan, the door is open for you to leave. Perhaps you'll find a more welcoming place out there.
Additionally, the CAPTCHA has been slightly modified to include randomized noise in the images. To compensate for this change, the expiration cookie now lasts longer.
