Hello everyone. We're having a Miku Day event for 39chan. It's going to be a Cytube stream where everyone can share their favorite Vocaloid songs. The stream will start on March 9th at 10:00 PM UTC (6:00 PM EDT).

The rules are the following:
1- Songs must be /leek/ related (vocal synth based). Songs made with speech synthesis software like Voiceroid are fine too.
2- Add one song at a time if possible. I'm going to add a whole playlist so that we have enough songs for a while, but you'll be able to add new songs at the top of the playlist that will play right after the current song.
3- 39chan rules apply.

I'll post the link shortly before starting the event.
Since this is the first Cytube event I'm making for 39chan, I am going to leave this thread open for suggestions and emote submissions for the room if you have any.

I added the NND script to the room, but I don't think it's working on my end.

Sorry for the late reply, but that is correct. We're having two more streams: one for Miku's birthday and one for 39chan's anniversary.

Hey /leek/, I had an idea for a compilation album called Cover Your Faves (or "/leek/ covers your faves").

>So what does this consist of?

Exactly what's on the title, you grab a song you like - Vocaloid or not, and make a cover of it with your favorite vocal-synth. But here's the catch, all submissions must use completely original tracks. If you're making a cover of ECHO for example, you can't use Crusher-P's instrumental, you gotta use your own.
Drawfags can submit their own covers for the album.
>How many songs will there be?
Ideally between 6-10. It depends on how many people submit entries?
>Is there a deadline?
The plan is to get the album out this year. So you have the entire year to work on your entries.

Damn, this sounds fun as hell but
A. Most of my favorite songs have way more complex instrumentals than I can reliably recreate, HOWEVER
B. I have remade instrumentals from scratch in the past. Infrequently and most are unfinished WIPs, but I know I can do it.
C. I don't have access to my computer until July
If I had Miki and FL Studio plus the time and drive to do it, I could absolutely see myself contributing. Covers are very fun to make, especially the tuning part.
This isn't for the project, but a bit before I was getting my computer repaired, I decided to remake one of my covers from scratch with Liam because I got SV2
https://files.catbox.moe/nghr4a.mp3
I could probably tune way better than this but I'm not super used to SV2 yet. And if I was making a cover with Miki (though I have several other legal VBs) I'd use her V2 instead of her SV2, since that's my favorite version of her bank. Depends on if the song I would choose would cooperate with her. If I choose to contribute.

I originally did intend to run my own MediaWiki instance (installed Docker and everything,) however I unfortunately do not have the funds or programming knowledge at the moment. My laptop is also very low-end (lacks a GPU I believe?) Crowdfunding is totally an option in the future, and a multiple people still were interested in using Miraheze as a temporary solution (I wouldn’t have made it otherwise.)
I would also eventually like to become self-hosted in the future so we don’t have to worry about anyone else’s rules. (Isn’t it too early to self-host anyway? There’s like two articles lol)

While I also believe while their Content Policy has issues it’s much better than Fandom’s, which is quite literally trying to force everyone to be as marketable to children and investors as possible. Miraheze at least lets us document NSFW that doesn’t involve things like rape or lolishota while Fandom doesn’t.

 No.6911

>>6862
You would rather be self-hosting early than having to worry about a large migration. Sort of brings me to the point again that if that so much effort is being expended on a migration, it would have been more consequential than just jumping to another a free hosting provider. Miraheze today is not Miraheze tomorrow, and the uncertainty of that concern could have been avoided with your own instance. Obviously I am speaking to a minority concern, if this is where volunteers want to go, but it also informs that I probably won't contribute for reasons similar to why I avoided contributing on Fandom. Most of my energy will probably remain with VocaDB.

Alright, /leek/ has proven that they're capable of making and not finishing an UTAU, but due to popular demand let's have another thread for the "fakeloid" project mentioned in that very same thread.

As we already know, it's impossible for filthy 39chan gaijin to fake a VOCALOID the same way VIPPERs did Teto, Tei, Ruko and the rest. But it's entirely possible to fake a voicebank for another engine like SV, V6, Cevio and Voisona (though the latter two would likely not gain much notoriety if carried out by westerners).

One of the ideas raised in the original thread was to create an RVC or Diffsinger based on an anon's voice.

I genuinely believe this might not be that hard to pull off. 39ch isn't a huge site so it's not like many people would snitch on us and making an AI voicebank these days is piss easy.

Thoughts?.

April 1st is over but TORIKO's actual voicebank is being worked on. I got in contact with her voice provider, she's working on the actual DS voicebank so I guess at this point "VoxSoft" can be considered a team. I'll probably host the finished voicebank on the existing VoxSoft website once it's finished (assuming it'll be finished this year because the site will go down in 2026) then after that I guess someone could add it to the TCC page where Sena is currently being hosted.

One of the biggest what-ifs in history is what would've happened if Crypton had never made products for Vocaloid.

>CFM never gets into Vocaloid, as a result Meiko and Kaito don't exist - obviously this means no Miku either, and like Zero-G, the company would be known for sample CDs instead of Vocaloid

>Miku essentially popularized Vocaloid so in a world without Miku the software would likely be a niche thing that only a few Japanese people know about
>Vocaloid not reaching Japan means that UTAU is never made
>Gakupo, GUMI, Sonika, Kaai Yuki and other "mascot" voicebanks are never created
>In this timeline it's possible thar Vocaloid is actually seen as the serious vocal synthesis tool it was originally meant to be, therefore more big name producers in the music industry end up using it

Unfortunately it might be impossible because I hear SV’s devkit is ridiculously expensive, as much as 5× more than Vocaloid’s (https://x.com/Minstrel4/status/1376582693920591872, https://x.com/colstone6/status/1821101787174334729, a Maghni AI dev said the same but I can’t find the tweet) although Canon could maybe crowdfund? I feel it’d be a hit especially since Teto already has one. Normally I prefer concatenative but SV Ritsu, Ruko, and Gahata sound nice. It’d be awesome to reunite all the Vippers on SV.

>Vocaloid would be almost never used at all
Not really. I think it would've been used, just not in the same way as it is used now. Keep in mind that when Vocaloid came out it was the best vocal synthesis engine in the market. So it would likely have been used more than Cantor, Lala and other vsynths which became forgotten with V1's release. If you want to imagine how Vocaloid would've been used in a timeline where Miku doesn't exist just listen to Light + Shade by Mike Oldfield which was made in 2005 (pre-Miku) and uses MIRIAM/Lola.

I'm mostly into instrumental electronic music myself, but over the last few years I developed a certain taste for vocaloid music. I have no idea about community alignment though. So I wanted to ask if this particular kind of stuff that I especially enjoy - mostly idm/drill-n-bass/glitch/uk-garage adjacent vocaloids - is actually considered proper vocaloid music in the community. One thing I noticed is stuff like this never really gets anywhere near as popular as simple pop songs. So what's your opinion about this kind of stuff?

I was reading old articles about Hatsune Miku earlier and a lot of journalist boomers who are completely unfamiliar with the concept of a vocalsynth or otaku culture seem to view her as this 1984 AI dystopia thing that will replace human singers.

What's the best way to explain Vocaloid to a person like this?.

>we will probably absolutely see long dead vocalists revived by the labels that own their back catalog
They actually have done this with Vocaloid already, before AI was a thing

Yeah they even resurrected Hibari Misora with AI as far back as the VOCALOID3 era, way before the Spongebob cover meme people.
Although it was done with consent from the families (wasn't Ueki-loid commissioned, actually?) so I don't think it's that bad imo.

Didn't even notice that LOL
Ironically I think they used the same or similar software in V6, I'm dying to know why it sounds so fuckin' bad in comparison
