>I'd never recommend Hazel's videos or her music to /jp/ (for several reasons)
Uh why? I like her videos and her music is kitschy goodness i enjoy. Reminds me of some old punk bands. Is there some lore I'm missing?

Anitubers in general kinda suck and i'd rather watch the show myself instead of having someone tell me what its about

I like the educational kind of anitubers who font just give opinions but try to teach you something. Or the ones who get all philosophical deep analysis but rarely post.

 No.505

>>501
>Is there some lore I'm missing?
No. It's just that contemporary 4chan is a cesspool with no moderation. I don't watch to trigger a political flamewar just for posting a video.
>>502
>Anitubers in general kinda suck
I agree, I don't watch most anime YouTubers; most of the time their videos are just boring plot summaries followed by banal opinions. I like Hazel because she does a lot of research and tends to cover more obscure topics, and I find her perspective interesting.

 No.506

>>505
One I watch is TheCynicClinic who oddly doesn't have many subscribers despite making videos for like a decade and actually puts research into them. Unless he is just taking content from someone else I am unaware of but I had not come across exact copies of his videos.

There also is an animator I like to watch Dong Chang who came from Canada but works in Japan so he's a lot easier to follow what he is saying on how the animation process works than someone you have to read subtitles for plus he had worked in Canada too so he can compare Western and Japanese animation methods.

I'm still mad about that one game having the eng release have both the release date and EOS be announced in the same post

Sunrise just hates money or something

 No.475

I'm gonna be honest with you i never played the games but I've been watching all the animes since 2014. I understand why people prefer IM@S but Love Live is what introduced me to idol anime so I have a soft spot for it still.

That decision killed the western fanbase imo. The games were the only way you could engage with LL in English and it's just gone. My interest in LL stopped after Liella was introduced so I could be wrong but Hasunosora seems to be popular in Japan.

As many of you know, Yoran Heling a.k.a Yorhel, the founder of the Visual Novel Database, has passed away on March 17th. No announcement had been made until now. Those of you who may not be entirely familiar with visual novels have probably stumbled upon his website through a VN called "Mirai no Kimi to, Subete no Uta ni", which made the rounds around the early 2010's and might be the most popular Vocaloid-related fan VN. Ultimately, though, VNDB was more than just a Visual Novel Database, as the title implies. It was a major contribution to otaku culture in general. Rest in peace, Yorhel.

I recently saw a thread on 4chan discussing the evolution of Japanese internet culture over the years. There were some interesting things said about 2channel/5channel (not to be confused with Futaba/2chan) and Futaba Channel/2chan.net.

Since this is the only imageboard out there with a Nihongo Culture board (rather than general Otaku Culture) I thought of importing this topic here.

Do you browse the Japanese internet? Do you feel like it has changed drastically or that some of its most important sites have fallen from grace?

I wouldn't be able to tell as I'm not Japanese but in terms of imageboards 4chan has definitely fallen from grace to the point where a lot of its users would prefer if it shut down (I know half of the /jp/ board would). I think 2channel and Futaba are also losing relevancy, its alternatives seem to be doing better.

 No.301

>>294
Someone a while back on 4/jp/ had mentioned that the Japanese moved to a new imageboard (can't remember the name right now) that requires a dicksword account to access it. It's still anonymous and functions the same as Futaba but to prevent spam and such you need a dicksword account.

Many years ago I had chance to work in the kadokawa herald for an international project based on a very famous dark fantasy writer, they had curiosity, real concrete interest and passion to embrace and to japanize something born in a different country. There are many difficulties in the common writing of such kinf of franchiese... the japaneses create emotional fresco fully different from the "europeans". But in time the Japan culture won the war for the global imaginary, only old generations can see that, the yooung people think that it was always like in the now.

 No.290

I support your only slightly coherent ramblings, but I can't help but laugh that you summoned Kadokawa, the blackest of black companies, in support of the amazingness Japanese culture.

More directly addressing your post, while I think it's true that Japanese cultural exports are having their most modern success, it's really mostly by accident. Conglomerates like Kadokawa in fact have been reticent to let Japanese culture expand while the internet has allowed global and unencumbered participation in cultures. Japan will benefit as we globally trend towards an even more visual culture, but they aren't the only winners and the tides can shift just as quickly as other players wise up. Look no further than J-pop's decay (beyond Vocaloid, a true subculture unencumbered by copyright and suits) while K-pop has eaten its lunch.

ITT: VocaDuo 2025 and beyond songs

>What is VocaDuo?

Chances are you've seen it on your feed but it is a contest where Utaites and VocalPs (ie vocalsynth producers) make songs together annually. It's relatively huge, mixing the techincal prowess of producers with actual singers

>Why isn't this in /leek/

Because it's only tangibly a Vocaloid contest with the vocaloid part missing, with the big focus being on the synthesis of producer and singer

Post songs and anything interesting you have come across, such as hidden gems, skits, etc. Discuss to your hearts content.

People don’t seem too excited about living in Japan due to the work culture, but working for a foreign company could make a difference. Daily life there looks so vibrant and dynamic, there’s always something to do and see!
